"Hey, who do you think you are, huh?" A girl shouted as she pushed Grace towards the wall, making her bang against it. She was wearing ragged clothes and looked like a punk. She had two other girls beside her. Grace looked terrified and she had a few bruises on her body and her face because they had tripped her on the stairs and kicked her. Her clothes were a bit torn and had a little blood on them from the wounds that she got.
"You wear such poor clothes, who do you think you are to disobey me, bitch?" She shouted at her and rose her hand to slap her in the face for the second time. She was so angry because Grace had disagreed to do their project for she had to go to her job quickly.
Grace closed her eyes tightly for she was kinda afraid now. But nothing happened, she slowly opened her eyes a few seconds later and saw Ava standing in front of her. She had held that girl's hand back and thus prevented her from hitting Grace. Ava was the one who usually bullied Grace but she couldn't understand why she stopped them, shouldn't she be happy to see her get hurt. Ava shook away that girl's hand and stared at her with anger in her eyes.
"Ava, we're on the same side, we both hate her so why cause this useless drama." That girl suggested with a friendly smile.
"Who said I hated her?" Ava asked as she tilted her head and that girl and Grace both got confused.
"You always bully her? It means you don't like her." She asked and lifted an eyebrow.
"I just like to tease her, I never said I hated her." Ava replied and tripped that girl. "But I do hate when people touch something that's mine." She said and her expressions became dark and she kicked that girl just like she did earlier with Grace.
Grace was shocked by Ava's words and flinched when she turned towards her. Ava banged her hand at the wall and stared into her eyes.
"Did you...?" Grace mumbled slowly.
"What?" Ava asked her loudly and she flinched.
"Did you mean what you just said?" Grace asked slowly and looked up at her.
Ava just stared at her and then busted into laughter. Grace was confused at her reaction.
"You believed me?" She asked as she controlled her laughter. Grace looked at her with confused eyes.
"I don't care whatever the hell happens to you, you die or you live. I just can't bear to lose my plaything to someone else. Who the hell would even take interest in you, nerd?" She said and looked emotionless.
Tears started rolling down Grace's eyes without her even realizing and she lowered her head, for she didn't want Ava to see her in that state. But her tears didn't seem to move Ava at all and she left with a smile on her face. The tears didn't seem to stop and her vision became blurry, she fell on her knees and suddenly she felt a strong pain in her chest. It had been two years since she like her secretly but she still didn't notice her. Her heartbeat raced and she couldn't understand what was happening to her. Her breathing became unstable and she felt like someone was strangling her, she struggled to breathe properly and took deep breaths.
She let out a scream and opened her eyes, the ceiling was the same as the one she saw every morning, she looked around and found herself in her room. Her breathing was unstable and her heartbeat was still fast. She was covered in sweat. She couldn't believe what a dream could do to her. But a part of her was relieved that it's as just a dream cause, in reality, Ava just walked away without saying a word to her. This reality was way better than her painful dream.
She took a deep breath to calm herself down and then looked at the clock. It was almost time to wake up, so she got out of bed and got ready for college. The house was empty as usual and this loneliness was calming to her for there was no one to stop her from dreaming, from thinking of the 'girl' that she liked.
She left for college later without having breakfast and on her way she saw Ava, wearing ragged jeans and a jacket over a black t-shirt. Her hair was short and she had put them up with a cap. She looked as pretty as she ever did. Her long lashes and brown eyes capturing every beautiful thing around her. Grace was mesmerized by her beauty for a second, it had been two years since she met her but it still felt like she was seeing her for the first time.
Ava glanced towards her and Grace quickly looked away. She didn't want to be found staring at her so she ran to her class quickly. Grace had long dark blonde hair and hazel colored eyes, which she covered with her glasses. Her hair was kept in a bun and she wore a hoodie with jeans. No one noticed how pretty she was. Well, she also liked to hide behind the shadows away from everyone's eyes.
The classes went on for a long while and as it ended she rushed out of the room and towards the exit, for she was almost ready for her part-time job. She didn't look at her way properly and bumped into someone and unfortunately, it was Ava. Unfortunately, because she would bully her again and she'll get late for her job, again. Grace bowed in apology without even looking who it was.
"Hey, nerd."A voice said and Grace flinched as she heard it for she realized it was Ava.
"Been a long since I saw you last." She added and her gang blocked her way completely.
"Must be busy studying." Emily, Ava's best friend added as she laughed at Grace along with the others.
"Why don't you do our work as well?" Harry, Emily's boyfriend said as he took away her books and the other members just laughed at her.
"Can you please let me go?" Grace mumbled slowly.
"What did you say?" Ava asked as she stepped closer to her. Her hears raced and she stepped back.
"Can you let me go? I...I'm late for work..." She said hesitantly.
"I will if you let me know where you work," Ava said and her demand confused Grace but she answered her anyways that she worked at a cafe.
"See you soon, nerd," Ava whispered in her ear as she left along with the others after giving back her stuff.
Her ears began to get red and she covered them as rushed to her work. What was Ava planning to do was all she thought about on her way.
It had been a year since Cora and Grace had started dating and since the last time they had seen Ava but they still sometimes talked to her. Grace did talk to the trio as well. Emily and Harry were planning to move in together soon. And as for Elijah, he had a boyfriend. Yup, a boyfriend. After college he got a job in a company and started working there, a coworker of his got a crush on him and chased after him and Elijah soon realized that he was bi and started dating him. They both live together now.As for the single squad, Lia and Austin, they tried dating each other and it worked out for they couldn't date anyone else because of their tight schedules but they had the same job so it worked out. Grace and Cora were obviously still dating and Grace was soon going to graduate from college. As for Grace's squad, they still went around complaining about things and Grace had a lot of fun with them. Although Cora didn't like them because Grace loved to hang out with them and thu
There was complete silence in that room for a few seconds and Grace was starting to get anxious for William hadn't said anything. He smiled after some time and looked at her. "There is no doubt that she loves you so much and has changed so much, just for you." He said and smiled softly, which he rarely did. "I do think it is partially our fault that's she's this way (anxious and insecure) and I'm guilty of that. I promised my wife to give my children the best life but I think I ruined it. So if there is a way to amend it, I'll surely do it."Grace smiled and was relieved that everything worked out in the end. Alisa was happy for them and hugged Grace while Oliver was confused but accepted them after digestion of the whole situation.William called Cora inside after that and she was confused to see everyone so happy."You chose the right girl, brat," William told her and she smiled and was relieved."Thanks, grandpa." She said and was on the verge o
They entered the mansion and the guard guided them to where Cora's family was waiting for her. Three people were sitting in that room, her mom, wearing a red dress and looking like an older version of Cora; her father and grandfather wearing formal, looking similar in looks, the way they sat, and the cold expressions. Grace was quite scared of meeting them. She knew that her parents had accepted them but it was only her mom, her dad was just cooperating for he feared that Cora would leave the country and he wouldn't have an heir. Gabe sat silently in the corner, he also didn't like his dad much cause he wasn't even given a chance after he was involved in the accident. Mr. Oliver Abel just put a title of useless on him and pretty much threw him out of the company.Cora took a deep breath and entered the room, holding Grace's hand for she didn't want to run away anymore, she wanted to face her fear and show them who she was, whether they accepted her or not.Grace was re
It was raining heavily, the weather was slowly getting colder and people started going back to their homes. Some were enjoying the rain, getting wet and dancing on the roads. Some were complaining about the weather while others were enjoying it, feeling at peace as if the rain washed away all the negativity. While some were reminded of the dark past and were crying, the rain accompanying their tears.Ava was still sitting in the cafe, alone but was at ease for she had finally moved on. She was able to get out of her lies and accept reality. Unknowingly, Grace had helped her free away from her past. Ava decided to change herself and become a better person. After thinking for a long time, she took a deep breath and she called her father and told him that she was coming back. Her father was surprised and asked if everything was alright. She replied positively and further told him that she would try to be a better daughter this time. He was relieved and happy; deep down he thanke
"But everything happens for the good. I'm happy with who I am now; I can accept myself as I am and I am loving myself which I never did before." Grace said and looked at Ava, her eyes were a little gentler. Ava started to feel more comfortable. "It's better to just move on. Let's just believe that we were just strangers who accidentally crossed paths and it all led to all this chaos. But I don't hate it, I don't blame you either. Cause it was because of all that that I met someone special and who makes me feel like I deserved to be loved, who has made all of my insecurities vanish." She started smiling without even realizing it. Ava noticed it and realized that she had already lost her and there's no use in trying to get her back for it would just hurt them more. The room was filled with silence again but there was no tension anymore. They were relieved for they had told each other everything they wanted. In that silence, Grace found her answer. It was love that she felt towa
Ava was standing right in front of her, holding a bouquet; looked at her as if Grace was her everything as if she had finally found her other half. Grace was startled by what had happened but the very next second she glared at her in anger. She was reminded of all those horrible things that Ava had done to her. Ava was confused to see that sight; it seemed as if something had changed as if the person in front of her was a complete stranger. Grace took a deep breath and walked towards the car, ignoring Ava completely for she didn't want to talk to her, she didn't want all that pain back, she had to protect herself this time.Grace sat inside the car and slammed the door. Cora was getting more anxious every second, but she didn't say anything and just firmly held her hand. Grace squeezed her hand lightly and rested her head on Cora's shoulder."I'm okay," Grace said and Cora smiled faintly. They went back to the mansion and everything became normal in no time caus
