Her harsh words

They both talked for a long time and it didn't seem like there wasn't much of a difference between them. Grace couldn't study at all that day but she was a lot happier than usual for two reasons, first, her crush finally talked to her, and second, she just made a friend after a long time. She laughed a lot with her and Ava found her cute and innocent.

"Why do you do so many part-time jobs?" Ava asked her as they were leaving the store.

"To make a living." She replied straight away.

"Don't your parents give you money?" Ava asked and found it a little strange.

"No, but they do ask for it sometimes." Grace said and had a smile on her face.

Ava stopped walking after hearing this, she was shocked after knowing the amount of pressure she had to bear.

"And why do you study so much?" Ava asked her with a blank face.

"So that I can get a scholarship." She replied as she turned around. Ava was a little awkward for she didn't know how to react now. Grace noticed it and smiled.

"You don't have to worry, it's way too normal for me." Grace said and turned back.

"Who's worried?" Ava said and started laughing to end the serious atmosphere. "I...I mean it's your life and you can do whatever the hell you want with it. I don't even care about it..." She said with an awkward smile on her face as she scratched the back of her head. Grace was a little hurt by her words because they sounded similar to what she said in her dream but still smiled at her.

"I'm going back now." She said with a soft smile and walked away quietly because she wanted to run away from the bitter reality.

Ava was standing there quietly and was regretting that she said those words and made her run away. She groaned in frustration and banged her feet on the floor. She asked herself why her brain always stopped working in such serious situations and she always says something stupid.

Grace reached her house after some time and was kinda frustrated at herself for having walked away so suddenly. She thought that it was so rude but she just wanted to escape from that awkward situation and not face the truth, for this was her habit. Her words sounded a bit harsh to her but she still regretted what she did next.

"Grace, what the hell were you thinking?" She said to herself as she removed her jacket.

"She's not the same as you, nothing will happen, you'll just be the secret admirer and nothing else. You're just her one friend in a thousand, don't get your hopes too high." She looked at herself in the mirror as she talked to herself. She sighed deeply and was kinda happy to have spent her evening with her. She decided to stay away from her, to prevent her feelings from going overboard and making a stupid move. She changed her clothes and decided to do her work.

The next day, Ava was waiting for her at the entrance of the college to apologize to her. Grace arrived after some time and was shocked to see her and felt a little unfortunate, for she had decided to avoid her but she was the first person she saw. She walked slowly and was thinking of avoiding her but she called out her name.

"Grace, I have to talk to you about something." She said as she ran up to her and her voice was a lot softer than before.

"W...what?" Grace stuttered.

"I just wanted to apologize..." Ava said and suddenly all her gang members arrived there in a car and honked loudly to get her attention.

"Hey, Ava, what's up?" Emily asked as she got off the car and hugged her.

"Hey, you're teasing this nerd again?" Harry said as he noticed Grace standing beside her.

"Well, we'll be happy to join..." Elijah, another one of their friend, added and stepped forward towards her.

Grace was embarrassed and awkward in that situation and ran away from there without saying anything. Ava stopped them from chasing her and was confused about what she was supposed to do now. Grace avoided her afterward and didn't even come in her sight the whole day but she still got hold of her. As Grace was walked up the stairs, someone grabbed her hand and pushed her against the wall.

"Why the hell are you avoiding me?" Ava asked as she came closer to her.

"I'm not." Grace denied her accusation and looked away.

"Grace stop lying, you ran away as soon as you saw me for the whole day." Grace was kind of embarrassed for she was wrong. But deep down she knew that if she got closer to her she'll lose control of her feeling and will make Ava hate her in the end.

"I'm not." She lied again and tried to get away from her again.

"Stop running away." Ava shouted and pushed her against the wall again.

"Stop, you're hurting me." Grace cried, Ava felt bad for acting so impulsive but it felt as if she had no control of herself, things were happening on their own and she couldn't stop herself from going towards her.

"Fine, then talk to me whenever you're ready." Ava said in a frustrated tone and walked away.

Grace was left all alone in the stairway and felt like crying for pushing her away. She took a deep breath and wiped away the tears that formed in her eyes and went on with what she was doing. Ava didn't bother her the rest of the day but kept staring at her which made her feel uncomfortable but she couldn't complain about it.

Her classes came to an end and she walked out of the college gate. Ava was watching her and noticed a guy standing at the gate. He was wearing blue jeans and a black leather jacket with a white t-shirt underneath it. She saw him walk towards Grace and she surprised at seeing him. Ava was shocked when that guy stepped forward and hugged Grace and she seemed to hug him back. Ava felt frustrated for persuing after her when she wasn't even interested in her.
