SHAWN

“Oh my God! What happened, Shawny!!!”

Miranda’s scream pierced the air the second I stepped into the living room.

She was sitting with my mother; they seemed to have been deep in a conversation I was too rattled to care about. I couldn’t even muster the patience for her fussing as she jumped to her feet and hurried over, her hands fluttering over my face, my arms, and my jaw.

I bit down the urge to bark at her to get away—to just leave me alone.

“Shawn, were you in a fight?” my mother a

  • Too Late To Want Me Back, Ex-Husband!   Board Meeting

SHAWNThe interview went well, I believed so anyway, as there was nothing else I could do but hope. It had been hard fighting such true, damning evidence, but I was banking on the good name we have built for some years in the public’s eye. That, together with the hacking into our company’s servers, made a good collaboration—a story that some evil people, not pleased with our success, were after us. Of course, that didn’t stop some shareholders from pulling their shares, nor did it stop the loss we were incurring as a company, but it could allow us to breathe and float for a while while we ran around trying to repair the damages. Although I’m not sure how much we could cover without the input of men like S.N., and other investors…We needed investors, a truckload of them, if I was going to pull this off. If only Elara had told me about her true heritage… I sighed and ruffled my hair in frustration, the strands feeling brittle between my fingers. If only… then her brothers alone co

ELARA“You look beautiful, El…” Liam’s voice was thick with blatant admiration and relief. I turned from the mirror to find my fourth brother leaning against the doorpost. He was already dressed in a sharp, forest-green three-piece suit, hands slotted into his pockets as he appraised me. He was supposed to have left with Julian for the Lindays’ mansion to retrieve my belongings, as I had a board meeting to attend in an hour.I smiled bashfully. “Thanks, Liam. Julian isn’t ready?”He snorted. “You know how he is about his face and clothes.” He shook his head in mock exasperation. “We’re just going for a pickup, for God's sake, not to meet the President.”I chuckled, returning my attention to the mirror to apply the finishing touches to my makeup. “You know how he is…”“Unfortunately.” He stepped into the room properly, his presence calming. “Are you sure you want to do this alone? Dominic can come along, or even Mason…”I patted my thigh, turning this way and that to check the angle

SHAWN“Fuck!!” I screamed in sheer frustration, kicking the dresser hard. My red tie has refused to stick around my neck the way Elara usually did it. Worse, every fumbled attempt at the knot forced me to face the reality again—that she had upped and left me, without a single thought on who would fill her role. But no one could now, could they? I admitted that truth to myself, my face a scowled mask as I tried to knot the tie again. My phone buzzed on the stand, but I didn't reach for it. I had answered enough calls in the hours following the release of our dirty linen in public to last me a lifetime. I had no urge to subject myself to that this early, not when I had an interview to prepare for and the board meeting at noon. No, I had no time for more calls. Yet… the stupid tie wouldn't just knot the way I wanted it to. I gritted my teeth and flung it away from my neck in anger, breathing in and out harshly. Elara. I shut my eyes, trying to rein in the fury, but it wasn’t help

Every unimaginable, evil thing that had transpired today felt like a huge weight on my shoulders. I stepped back, wrenching myself out of Miranda’s reach. She looked affronted, her eyes welling up.“Shawny…”“Not now, Miranda. I want to be left alone,” I stated bleakly.I walked away, heading for the stairs.“Shawny—”I didn't give her a response, though the name made my skin

  • Too Late To Want Me Back, Ex-Husband!   Best Man

ELARABy all checks, Killian was the best man for the job of a husband. The fact that he was already my betrothed only made the transition easier. Yet, for some reason, I felt that his streak of unpredictability—even in business—might be an alarming thing. That, and the strange effect his presence seemed to have on me. I curbed the latter thought immediately, chalking it up to being bereft of affection for so long that any attention at all seemed to push my buttons. Yes, that had to be it.I watched him stroll toward the door with my brothers following close behind. I knew he would be able to convince the media of our union just as quickly; he was a traditional male, eager to assert boundaries and play the protective bear. I wouldn't complain, mostly because I knew it would drive Shawn absolutely insane. The mere thought of it brought a smile to my lips.I got to my feet and followed them outside to witness the drama. In the large compound, Shawn was ranting, flanked by two police

  • Too Late To Want Me Back, Ex-Husband!   Bethrothed

KILLIANShe didn’t recognize me. Damn if that didn’t hurt in a way, but I’ve always prided myself on being a patient man. I will wait until she remembers me—until she sees me as more than just Shawn’s rival. Shawn Lindays. For five years, I’ve watched from the sidelines as he treated my treasure like something with no use. I’ve controlled the urge to snap his neck in every business meeting we attended, to storm into his house and drag my betrothed away, to cut off the hands he used to cheat on her—those, and his prick. For five years, I had borne the pain nonchalantly. But now, no more. It was good that she had finally come to know her value, although I’m quite curious as to how that happened. Either way, I’m done waiting on the sidelines. And Shawn… He will sign those divorce papers by the time I’m done with him. Already fate was against him, with his business beginning to crumble. I had thought the Vikings were behind it at first, but Dominic claimed they had no part in it.

ELARA My eyes started to water again as I watched my remaining brothers, Connor and Julian, step into the room. They hurried to my bedside just like my father and my other three brothers had in my previous room, before they ordered my relocation to this private space. “Ela…” Julian murmured, lea

SHAWN“Where is the patient that stayed in this room last night, even till this morning?”I asked one of the nurses I saw walking down the hallway, after I had checked Room B17 and saw the bed empty. At first, fear had eroded my senses, swamping me so much I couldn’t breathe the first few seconds,

SHAWNIt was Cassius’s dry chuckle that finally broke the heavy silence in the room.“Well, I’ll be damned,” he muttered, the words thick with cynical amusement. Another of those grating laughs escaped his lips before he finally met my gaze—one that darted pointedly from my face to the torn divorce

  • Too Late To Want Me Back, Ex-Husband!   On His Knees II

ELARAI bit down the urge to ask Julian to quit the dramatics of calling this stranger "brother-in-law." The man looked familiar, but I didn't have time to place him because I saw, with immense pleasure, Shawn blanching. A better idea to deal with him began to form—one to tide me over before the t
