~ Aria's POV ~

I stood in front of the mirror and inhaled slowly, grateful that no one had been hurt and that my secret hadn’t been exposed. I was able to control myself from hurting Lucian, but I was scared that I wouldn't be able to control myself when it happened again.

"Why can't you both agree with each other? I'm the one suffering here," I whispered in a low voice, staring at my reflection in the mirror.

"You both and a part of me. No matter who fights for dominance, I am always going to be a Vamwolf," I added.

"It's difficult to accept. I want to be in control," a voice said in my head.

I smiled. A real, shaky smile because my wolf had actually spoken to me. I had been waiting for this: a chance to reach her and to reason with her instead of having her erupt in anger.

"I'm also a vampire. You can't change that. Can't you at least be the one to surrender?" I asked, hoping she'd reply, but my smile dropped when she didn’t. She went quiet like she always does, waiting for me to ge

~ Aria's POV ~"Maybe the full moon thing doesn't work on you, which is why you didn't shift into a wolf last night," Lucian suggested."Yeah… maybe. You should worry about not shifting into a wolf, Skylight. What's important is knowing how to be stable when you snap," Raven said, rubbing my shoulders."Exactly." Thorne nodded in agreement. "That's what I keep telling her, but she won't listen."After I didn't transform into a wolf last night, I had been worried about it, wondering why I wasn't like the rest of the werewolves who had seen and gotten used to their wolves."What if I don't have a wolf?" I asked, letting my worries be known to them."That's not impossible, Bunny. It whispered to you that I was your mate, and the same applied to my wolf too. It wouldn't have been possible if you didn't have a wolf. I'm sure you'll shift at the perfect time," Thorne smiled at me.I was about to state another worry when we heard a loud scream from the woods. We were all taking a walk, but a

~ Aria's POV ~I stood by the window in my room, staring into the quiet darkness outside, but my mind was anything but calm. The innocent human who was murdered… her face wouldn’t leave me alone. And neither could the memory of what Lucian and Sybille had done to that man.I wasn't trying to be ungrateful. I was grateful to them. At least with what they did, he wouldn't point fingers at me... but still, I felt like they had done the same thing to me.Even now, I still couldn’t remember why I had gone to Sybille’s house that day. Or how Lucian had claimed we’d had sex. The more I thought about it, the more impossible it seemed. There was no way I would forget something like that. No way.If my instincts were correct, then why did he wipe my memory of that day? What did I say, or perhaps what did he say that made him wipe my memory?"Can't sleep?" Callista asked when she tossed around and found me standing by the window.I turned to her and shook my head with a little smile. She groaned

  • Torn Between Monsters    Chapter 167

~ Aria's POV ~"Are you trying to accuse us of killing a human?!" Lyra snarled, her golden eyes flaring like molten fire."I'm not trying to accuse anyone," Dahlia defended herself. "I'm only stating a fact. That human girl was obviously killed by a vampire and a werewolf!"In a blink, Seraphina blurred forward, fingers locking around Dahlia’s throat. "I might not be the kindest person alive," she growled, lips peeling back to reveal sharp fangs, "but I would never murder a human!"Was she being serious right now? Didn’t she try to kill me when I was still human? But that wasn't the issue. The issue was that a human was murdered by a vampire and a werewolf."Let go of her, Seraphina!" Miss Hellcat demanded."I think Seraphina should teach her a lesson," Ixora sneered. "Everyone knows vampires and werewolves hate each other. They would never team up to kill a human… It can only be done by someone who's both a vampire and a werewolf!"I swallowed hard again, watching them gossip about I

~ Aria's POV ~I waited patiently for Ryker to show up at the eatery where I had asked him to meet me. While I waited for him, everyone in the eatery kept looking at me and whispering to themselves. They were trying to keep their gossip about me out of my hearing, but little did they know that I could hear every word that came out of their mouths. They weren't talking about my face or my body. They were gossiping about my hair, about why it was silver-white and why it was so long, down to my knees. I could feel the suspicion in their eyes. They wondered if I was part of the outcasts in Velmora.Yeah… Outcast, that's what they called us. The word Outcast made me remember Jeremiah. He was still in the hospital and hadn’t tried to reach out. I hope he does one day. He was still my very first human friend, no matter what."Aria?" Ryker's voice broke me out of my thoughts. When I lifted my head to him, he was staring at me, especially at the length of my hair."Your hair? What happened to

  • Torn Between Monsters    Chapter 164

~ Lucian's POV ~I stared at my father, hoping this was a cruel joke, but knowing him, he never joked about anything. Every word he spoke was law, and when he said something, he meant it."She’s not the right person for you, Lucian,” he said coldly. "End that wretched relationship, and you’ll have your title back as my son. I’ve ruled for over two centuries, and I’m ready to pass the crown to you if you do as I say."My mother curled her arm through mine, her touch gentle yet suffocating. "It’s not difficult, my love," she cooed. "All you have to do is end it with her. There are plenty of succubi in our realm. You can choose any one of them."I stared at my mom. I wasn't surprised at her words. I was used to her supporting every single thing my father said. When he disowned me, she didn't do anything or try to speak on my behalf; she just followed her husband, blaming me for the rash decision I made."Was this why you remembered you had a son?" I finally spoke up after a few seconds o
