Maya woke up the next morning, walked up to the bathroom, and took her last shower in her father's house as she was leaving for the Lynx villa that same day.

After her bath, she put on her makeup and styled her hair.

She then stood in front of her mirror and gave herself a faint smile.

She said to herself she was now married and would have to start taking critical decisions for herself.

She walked down the stairs to her parents, who were already waiting for her.

They hugged her and asked the servants to go get her bags from her room.

Her mother kissed her on the check and whispered to her.

“Never give up, continue striving”

Maya smiled faintly as she nodded her head shyly.

Ray's mother also arrived at Maya’s place.

"My daughter, come let's go to your new home. "

Said Mrs Lynx.

"Okay, Mrs Lynx. " Maya said calmly

"No, don't call me Mrs Lynx.

Just call me mother because you are now like a daughter to me."

"Okay, mother." maya said

Mrs Lynx smiled as she led Maya to her car.

She then went to Maya's parents and told them that she was grateful for them giving her their daughter and that she would take care of their daughter very well.

They both smiled as they waved Maya goodbye.

One their way, Mrs Lynx tried to build a connection with Maya as she told her not to worry and that she would protect her, and she wouldn't allow anyone to hurt her.

Maya smiled faintly as she tried to hide her sad emotion.

Their car pulled over as they both got down.

Maya, at this moment, knew she was now in for something she couldn't go back on anymore.

Mrs Lynx asked the guard to bring Maya’s bags from the car.

Mr Lynx stood at the entrance of the door as he welcomed her with a hug.

He said he couldn't believe she was this beautiful, and he thought his wife was just exaggerating when she said Maya had grown to become a beautiful girl.

They then walked inside and took a seat in the living room.

"Bring the bags inside, "Mrs Lynx said.

"Maya would be staying with us until Ray is back from the United States of America. "

"Take her begs into Ray's room and help her arrange them gently into the wardrobe. "

"Okay, Mrs Lynx. "

The maids said as they dragged Maya’s begs into Ray's room.

Okay Maya follow them to know where you will be staying from now.

If it is not comfortable enough, tell us so that we can give you a different room.

"Okay, Mommy."

Maya said as she walked quietly behind the maids.

Mrs Lynx laughed as she lent closer to her husband.

She just called me mommy.

She said with a huge smile.

Upon arrival in the room,

It was well arranged with colourful walls and paintings.

Maya thanked the maids and went into the bath house for a shower. As the water sipped down.

She began to think about how her life was suddenly going to change because of her marriage. She picked up her towel and wiped off the water, which was sipping down her body. She put on her pyjamas and laid on the bed.Due to exhaustion, she slept off.

She woke up the next morning to the call for breakfast. She walked to the dining tables slowly.

She then took a seat next to Mrs Lynx, who asked her how her first night was, if she was comfortable with the room

and if she had a good sleep. Maya told her she was okay with the room and that she slept well.

"Thank you for asking."She said,

Mrs Lynx was happy about the response because she didn't want Maya to feel any discomfort on her first day.

"You can always ask me about anything or tell me about your challenges. I will be very happy to help."

"Thank you, Mommy,"

Maya said with a shy smile.

Now let's eat, Mrs Lynx said with a warm smile. After breakfast, maya went into her room. There was a slight knock at the door.

It was Mrs Lynx.

"Come in," Maya said.

Mrs Lynx went and sat on the bed.

"Maya, come and sit closer to me."Said Miss Lynx.

"Okay, mom." Maya said

"I wanted to tell you that Ray would be coming home tomorrow along with my God daughter Maxxy Mills, who has been staying with us for a very long time. We won't like to disturb your privacy or interact with your marriage life so when he arrives, you will move to his house so that you can have your own privacy with no interference. "

"Okay, mum, thank you for that information.

I appreciate it.

Maya said as Mrs Lynx took her hand.

I'm always here for you, okay?

Inform me if you need anything.

"Thank you for your love, mom."

"Oh no need, you are my daughter in law what less can I do for you."Mrs Lynx said,

She stood up and walked her way out.

Closing the door behind her Maya felt a chill in her spin, and she didn't really think Ray would like her.

That was the last thing she wanted to hear.

She laid on her bed, closed her eyes, and started reflecting on her life without marriage.

***Hmmm***

She stood up from her bed,

Took her bath and anticipated the return of her husband Ray Brown. She lay on her bed and slept off.She woke up the next morning with Mrs Lynx telling her to go to the office to get her some documents. Maya kept on a normal dress and decided to head to the office immediately before Ray Brown’s arrival. When she got to the office, She was stopping by the guard who told her she couldn't go in because she was not a worker at the place.

Maya tried explaining things to him that she was sent by Mrs Lynx to get some documents, but he did believe her.

She tried explaining to him, but everything became a commotion outside as he started shouting at her to get out of the property as it wasn’t allowed.

Workers left what they were doing and came outside to see where the noise was from.

They stood there pointing and murmuring as they all didn't know what was really going on outside the building.

The manager came out of her office as she walked straight to the guard, asking him what was really happening because the noise was disturbing their work.

After she heard his side of what had happened.

Maya tried telling her why she was there but the manager didn't want to listen and asked her to get out of the premises because Mr Ray Brown would be there any moment and he didn't like people who played around his work place. In the midst of their misunderstanding, a black car pulled up, and guards surrounded it.Everyone became quiet as Ray Brown got down from the back seat with shades on.Maya wanted to use the commotion as an opportunity to get into the office but was stopped by the manager. The manager was about to slap her when Ray shouted.

Stop!!!

The sun was setting on the edge of the same cliff where everything had changed.Ray had asked Maya to meet him there. Mrs. Lynx sat alone in her bedroom, staring at a wedding photo of Ray and Maya from five years ago.“She’s back,” she whispered. Her glass of wine tipped. But as a man who has been lied to. Manipulated. My wife, Maya Lynx, was presumed dead. But I have reason to believe she is alive… and I will not stop until she is home.”Gasps.Reporters screamed questions.Ray raised his hand. “To those who tried to bury her, I'm coming for you. And this time, no one will protect you.”Alone in a holding cell, Jacqueline spiraled. She scratched Maya’s name into the wall over and over, laughing, crying, singing lullabies.“She’s not real,” she whispered. “She’s just a shadow. Jacqueline couldn’t sleep.Every night, she woke up gasping, sure she had seen Maya’s face in the window. Every reflection seemed to mock her. Every whisper sounded like footsteps coming back from the grave. She snapped at the wedding planner. Canceled the flower order. Screamed at her dressmaker.“You don’t understand,” she told Mrs. Lynx over the phone. “She’s haunting me. I don’t know if she’s alive or I’m going crazy!”“Then let’s kill her properly this time, even if she is not Maya and we suspect she is. She is still a treat to us” Mrs. Lynx replied coldly. “I’ll handle it.”Ray had finally done it.He had swiped Jacqueline’s phone while she was sleeping, copied encrypted messages, and sent them to Rockson to decrypt. What they found stunned him: photos of Maya at the hospital. Conversations with a man named rockson. Back at the mansion, Jacqueline had begun to unravel. Her nightmares intensified Maya standing at the altar instead of her. Maya wearing her dress. Maya bleeding… but alive.Ray barely looked at her anymore. Even their wedding planner noticed the tension.“Should we postpone?” the planner asked gently.“No!” Jacqueline snapped. “We move forward. Full speed. I want this wedding to happen. I want to be his wife. Legally.”“Understood,” the planner said, taken aback.Jacqueline locked herself in her room that night and pulled out the pregnancy test. It was fake. A lie they used to trap Ray.And the lie was eating her alive.Unbeknownst to everyone, Ray had hired a private investigator named Livingstone, a former journalist fired for digging too deeply.Livingstone had found something about a village healer who remembered treating a woman pulled from the river. Back at the Lynx estate The estate echoed with laughter, but none of it reached Ray’s soul. From the grand marble staircase, Mrs. Lynx descended in a shimmering emerald gown, her heels tapping a steady rhythm against the polished floor. The chandelier overhead sparkled like a thousand truths withheld. She clasped her hands together in triumph and looked around the crowded room.“Everyone!” she called out with pride. “Tonight, we celebrate the engagement of my son, Ray Lynx, to the beautiful Jacqueline," she said with a broad smile while holding a cup of wine. Thunderous applause followed.Jacqueline stepped into view in a dazzling silver dress that hugged her figure like a secret weapon. Her eyes sparkled with victory as she walked toward Ray, extending her hand. He took it automatically, numb, hollow, his heart still buried beneath the weight of the woman he had lost Maya.Maya, whose memory haunted him more vividly than Jacqueline’s touch.“Say something,” Jacqueline whispered thr
