Nora POV

"I can't leave…" A muffled sound boomed in the quiet room.

I turned immediately at the sound of the voice, shock and excitement bursting within me. Never in a lifetime had I thought that I would hear my mother's voice clear and sharp again.

But all I saw was an old fragile and frail woman back in her confused, delusional state. I turned back bitter and dejected, the only string of hope I had was lost. How could I have imagined that my mother would be lucid again?

I was now at the mercy of a stranger. Who I believed had a hand in the underworld—I was a hundred percent sure. That did not amaze me, after all, I just discovered the hidden identity and operations of Darius, Landon's father.

Tyler's men dragged me out of the room, doing the same with my mother. "Please be careful with her. She is very weak." I pleaded as we walked out.

"And wear her coat." I screamed again.

Landon collapsed on the bed when it was just him. He was glad to have gotten rid of the pest in his life but a part of him felt bad.

The door opened and Josephine entered. She was out of her nurse wear and was now changed into a body hug gown that stopped right at her thigh.

She removed the large coat she wore on it and approached him. "Settled already?"

Landon nodded.

"Finally!" She jumped in excitement and rushed to give him a hug. "Thanks honey, for doing this for me."

Landon smiled stiffly. He hadn't done it for her but he was glad to know she was. He held her tightly in his arms, and she kissed him all over his face.

He chuckled, knowing what was next.

I left the hospital lost in thought, my emotions heavy as I sat in the car with Tyler. The driver ignited the car and it sped off from the hospital.

I took a glance at him, his sharp jawline in a rigid line and his lips pressed together.

I took one more look at him trying to decipher what he was thinking but his eyes were cold and unreadable as always.

I was indeed grateful to him, at least for saving us from the clutches of Landon and his dad but I couldn't control the fear and suspicion laced beneath the gratitude.

What was waiting for me where we were going? Or rather what were his plans? Should I just believe that an enemy closer to me was better than him?

I had no control over my fate, escaping one nightmare only to fall into another.

After much thought and covering some distance, I finally summoned the courage to ask, "Why did you help me? Why did you take my mother too?"

A dangerous silence evaporated the atmosphere.

Tyler's tone was slow, teasing when he replied. "Don't overthink it. I wasn't helping you. I just don't like my possessions thinking about someone else."

I frowned. "Possession?"

A look of surprise appeared on his face and he reached out to the compartment, bringing out an envelope.

He handed me the contract Landon signed.

My fingers trembled slightly as I took it, my vision still unreliable—sometimes clear and sometimes blurry. But I needed it to work at this critical point.

I tried to read out the outlines, glimpses of sharp edges, but the words on the contract remained a blur.

Tyler waited, amusement filling his eyes.

I squinted, willing my sight to focus. And then I saw it. Landon had signed away all my rights. The contract was filled with explicit terms, most of them degrading.

The one particular statement I could read vividly and which hurt me the most was Landon clearly stating that Tyler could do to me as he wished and addressed his control over me as his foster sister.

Did Tyler believe we were related?

As if on cue, Tyler turned to me, watching as I read the terms of the contract. Our previous scene flickered in his eyes and he raised my chin to look at him.

My eyes were beautiful but… he shook the thoughts away. I stiffened, at a loss of what to do. Wasn't our previous encounter just for a moment?

I had no time to think when his lips pressed on mine again but had warmth this time. Tyler started gently but kissed me deeper when I showed no response. His hands moved to the back of my head and he went for it, the kiss lasting for some minutes.

Tyler took a minute to look at me and stopped when he saw the lack of excitement in my eyes. Was it because of the blindness or was I not just interested in him?

He leaned back on the chair and focused his sight on the journey ahead. I sighed, doing the same.

Did he buy me to become his sex toy? My mind went back to my mum and I feared for her. The gratitude I felt earlier quickly disappeared, and anxiety filled me.

Could I have made the wrong call?

The journey seemed long to me and until a few hours later when I saw us drive into an estate, I was relieved.

We drove through a black gate and I was amazed at the sight that lay before me. Not just the mansion and its view but also the people I could see standing outside.

Tyler smirked. "You'll be meeting a few people soon. Just follow my lead."

We stepped out and met the gang elders waiting at the entrance. One of them frowned looking at me from head to toe. "Bringing home another stray?"

Tyler chuckled. "Not a stray—my wife."

TYLER'S POVI stood in the hallway outside Nora's room, my fist clenched at my side. The black rose and the note. Someone had been in her room without my knowledge. That could not happen. Not in my house. Not under my watch.I turned and walked down the stairs, my footsteps heavy on the marble. The elders would be waiting in the meeting room. They always waited when something unexpected happened. And bringing Nora home had been very unexpected.I pushed open the doors to the private meeting room. Five faces turned toward me. The gang elders. Men and women who had served my family for decades.Adrian sat at the head of the table, his fingers steepled under his chin. He was the oldest and the most cunning. Nothing escaped his notice."Tyler." He nodded at me. "We need to talk."I closed the doors behind me and took my seat. "About what?""About the woman you brought home." Clara leaned forward, her sharp eyes studying my face. "You called her your wife.""That is correct.""Since when d

NORA'S POVI stared at the wedding dress, my hands still clutching the note. Wear this tomorrow. The words blurred as tears filled my eyes.I reached out and touched the fabric again, this time noticing the details. The lace was old. Not old in a worn way, but vintage. Delicate and yellowed slightly at the edges. This was not a new dress. This was Isabella's dress. The dress she would have worn to marry Tyler. The dress that never made it to a wedding. And now he wanted me to wear it.My stomach turned. I stepped back from the closet, my breath coming in short bursts. I could not do this. I could not pretend to be her.But what choice did I have? The contract bound me to Tyler. I was his possession now. If he wanted me to wear a dead woman's wedding dress, I had no power to refuse.I forced myself to look around the room again. Really look this time. The vanity caught my attention. I walked over to it and sat down on the velvet stool. The mirror reflected my pale face at me, making me

NORA'S POVI could not let her walk away. Not after what she had just said. I hurried out of the room, my feet moving before my mind could catch up."Wait!" I called out, my voice echoing down the empty hallway.Lily stopped but did not turn around. Her shoulders tensed like she was bracing herself for something painful.I caught up to her, slightly out of breath. "Please. You cannot just say something like that and leave."She glanced over her shoulder, her eyes darting left and right. "I should not have said anything.""But you did." I stepped closer, lowering my voice. "Who are you talking about? Who do I look like?"Lily's face crumpled with worry. She looked like she wanted to run, but something kept her rooted in place. "Not here," she whispered. She grabbed my wrist and pulled me down the corridor. We turned a corner and she pushed open a door I had not noticed before. The room inside was small and dark, filled with cleaning supplies and old furniture.Lily shut the door behind

NORA'S POVMy fingers trembled as I reached for the drawer again. I knew I should not be looking through Tyler's things, but I could not stop myself. The woman in the photograph haunted me.I pulled the drawer open fully this time. More photographs spilled into view, each one showing the same beautiful woman. She had dark hair that fell in waves past her shoulders. Her smile was warm and genuine. But it was her eyes that made my stomach drop. They were the exact shape as mine. The same curve to her cheekbones. The same delicate arch to her eyebrows. We could have been twins.I picked up another photograph. This one showed her in a flowing white dress, standing in a garden filled with roses. Sunlight caught in her hair, making it shine like silk. She looked happy. Carefree. Everything I would never be.The next photograph made my breath cease. The woman stood beside Tyler, but he looked different. Younger. His face was softer, without the hard edges I had come to know. His arm wrapped

NORA'S POVTyler's hand wrapped around my wrist as he pulled me away from the crowd of elders. Their stares burned into my back, but I had no strength left to care what they thought of me.He led me through a marble hallway that seemed to stretch forever. My feet ached with each step, but I forced myself to keep up with his long strides. The walls were lined with expensive art that I could barely make out in my unreliable vision. We stopped at a heavy wooden door. Tyler pushed it open and gestured for me to enter. I hesitated, before stepping into what appeared to be his private study. The room smelled of leather and cedar. Dark bookshelves lined the walls, filled with volumes I would never have time to read. A massive desk was in the center, polished to a mirror shine.Tyler walked to the desk and dropped a folder he had been holding. The same contract Landon had signed. My stomach twisted into knots as he laid it flat on the surface between us."Sit," he commanded, his voice leaving
