Keegan POV:
The rest of the day passed by slowly and I spent the afternoon completely avoiding the woman that called to me like no one had before her.
An hour after the incident in the office, she knocked on the door, letting me know that dinner was ready. When I had made my way to it, she was already gone. I ran my hands through my hair in frustration for the remainder of the day.
Dinner was mostly in silence. Vianne only spoke when someone asked a question, though she was more lively when she spoke to Claire. Me, however, she answered in one or two words. I hated it but knew that it was for the best.

Keegan POV:We agreed that it was best to keep a close eye on Brant. We had to stay a step ahead of him. Clement was going to send two of his best trackers to Darwin. If anyone could find dirt on Brant and his family, it would be the tracker wolves in Clement’s pack. Somehow, his tracking skills had taken on a technological side, making one of the good with computers and numbers and the other to physically follow people and through new detective methods. They were invaluable assets to the pack. Unfortunately, Clement decided to send members of the pack to babysit Claire while she was at school and both his girls were at the house until we were sure Wilson wouldn’t divulge information to Brant. Keegan POV:I watched as they chose a pen for Claire to write. Apparently, Claire was particular about such things. “Keegan, you don’t have to watch us,” Vianne said quietly, while still helping her daughter. “It’s fine,” I responded just as quietly. “I find it fascinating to watch you two.” They smiled at me and turned their attention back to the notebook. Vianne had some kind of pencil as she wrote something on the corner of the page. It pained me to see her hide her wince as her thumb twitched several times. Thankfully, the little girl was too busy taking in the view from the window. I left them to their own device after a few minutes and shed my boxer to shift. I ran into the treeline and made two rounds around the house before I noticed Vianne walking into the trees, still in her bikini set. She quickly discarded the clothes and shifted. She trotted in deeper and finally joined me towards the thicker area.

Wolves usually mark their wives when they get married, to force a mating bond,” I thought out loud. Her eyes flashed toward me. “Oh yes. The mark… No, he thought it was too primitive. He didn’t like that he was a wolf and needed to take care of extra things. He thought that the practices of wolves were animalistic, so he forewent that,” she shrugged. I frowned. I would never understand this sentiment. But still, I was glad Brant never marked her. It would have been near impossible to get her out of the situation if that was the case.
