"Let him stand out there in the freezing mud until his legs freeze solid, because the Alpha of Obsidian Fang does not rush out just because a disgraced wolf comes begging at our door."

Silas stood by the window of his study, his masked profile sharp against the dim morning light, looking down at Elara as she adjusted her collar with quiet confidence.

He had spent years ruling his pack with an iron fist, letting nothing penetrate his cold, calculated detachment, yet every movement Elara made stirred something foreign and fierce beneath his ribs.

"He expects me to cower," Elara murmured, her voice steady as she met his sharp grey gaze in the glass reflection. "He expects me to come running back the moment he snaps his fingers, crying for the scraps of affection he denied me for three humiliating years."

Silas turned slowly from the window, his large frame blocking out the pale winter sun. "Let him wait. No one commands what belongs to Obsidian Fang."

"I am not hiding behind your shadow, Silas," Elara said, her chin lifting with a quiet, unyielding resolve that demanded absolute respect. "Kade humiliated me in front of the entire Great Hall. If he thinks I will cower behind closed doors while he begs at our gates, he is entirely mistaken. I will face him myself to show him that I am no longer the timid, chubby girl he threw away."

Silas’s jaw tightened, a dark, possessive spark flashing in his eyes. He stepped closer, his massive chest nearly brushing hers, his voice dropping to a low, rough growl. "You are my Luna. You answer to no one, least of all a broken Alpha whose pack is rotting from his own hubris. If he dares look at you with anything less than absolute terror, I will strip away what remains of his title with my bare hands."

"Let me handle him," Elara replied, her brown eyes flashing with cold fire. "True power isn't shown by hiding your enemies outside; it's showing them that their opinions have lost all power over your soul."

Silas studied her face for a long moment, searching for any sign of hesitation. Finding nothing but cold resolve, a dangerous, approving smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. "As you wish, my Queen. But if he crosses the line, my blade will introduce him to true agony."

They walked through the dark stone corridors of the Obsidian Fang mansion side by side. Along the way, they passed whispering pack members who still eyed Elara with a mixture of shock, awe, and lingering skepticism.

Servants and elite warriors alike paused in their duties, murmuring softly about the rejected girl from Red Moon who had not only survived her first night under Silas’s cursed roof but had walked out as his undisputed queen.

Elara kept her head held high, ignoring the lingering doubts of the pack with the calm grace of someone who had already survived the worst hell imaginable.

"They still whisper," Elara noted softly, her gaze flicking toward a group of senior guards murmuring near an archway.

"Let them whisper," Silas replied, his voice a low rumble of absolute authority. "They will learn to bow soon enough, or they will find themselves answering to my blade."

"They don't need your blade, Silas," Elara said with a faint, confident smile. "They just need proof that I am more than a title on parchment, and watching Kade grovel at our gates will be the best lesson they could ever ask for."

The doors of the inner courtyard swung open, admitting the biting chill of the alpine morning. As they reached the massive iron gates of the pack boundary.

Kade stood shivering in the snow, his face pale, gaunt, and haggard, his once-formidable alpha aura visibly fractured, bleeding, and weak.

The sheer psychological and physical backlash of the broken fated bond had carved deep, hollow trenches beneath his eyes, stripping away every ounce of his arrogant pride.

Beside him, a disgraced and desperate Lyra tried desperately to cling to his arm, her expensive red dress ruined by the freezing slush, her face smeared with frantic tears.

But Kade violently shrugged her off, shoving her back into the snow with a growl of pure frustration, his eyes locking onto Elara with a frantic, pleading hunger that bordered on madness.

"Elara!" Kade screamed, his voice cracking violently as he clawed at the heavy iron bars of the gate like a caged animal. "Elara, please... look at me, you have to listen to me!"

Elara stopped just a few paces away, her expression an impenetrable wall of absolute, chilling indifference.

Kade pressed his bloody fingers through the cold iron bars, his breath pluming white in the freezing air as he sobbed out his plea. "The land is dying, Elara... the northern fields are turning black, my wolf is fading into silence, and the pack elders are threatening to depose me. You are my fated mate… you have to come back home to Red Moon."

Lyra scrambled to her feet behind her, her voice shrieking with manic desperation. "Yes, sister! Tell him! Tell him this is all a terrible mistake and that you belong in Red Moon, because without us, you are nothing!"

Elara looked at them not with anger, sorrow, or even satisfaction, but with an absolute, bottomless emptiness that cut deeper than any blade. She tilted her head, her voice carrying effortlessly across the frozen courtyard, clear, cold, and final.

"Home? Kade, the only thing dying at Red Moon is your pathetic excuse for a pack, and I would rather rot in the snow than ever step foot in your halls again."

Elara, turning her back on her weeping ex-mate without a single backward glance.

His small, scraped hands twitched against his canvas apron as he cupped the warm pastry, his wide brown eyes darting toward the doorways before leaning forward to whisper, "Luna, you really shouldn't be down here alone," Milo whispered urgently, his voice trembling under the weight of genuine fear. "The elite warriors on the early morning border patrol were talking near the armory doors. They said Elder Rowena still has powerful friends among the high guards. They're watching every single plate and cup that leaves this room."Elara smiled softly, placing a reassuring, warm hand over his shoulder. "Let them watch, Milo. A guard who spends his morning glaring at breakfast trays is a guard who isn't paying attention to his own vulnerabilities. Bes
