"Who are you?!" Sarah screamed at Killian, and at the same time shot a fire ball at him, to which Killian just waved his cane in an almost lazy move, and the fireball extinguished into the air.
"Calm down," Killian frowned lightly, dusting his spotless sleeves, "you don't want me to alert the authorities now, do you?" Sarah's eyes glimmered in delighting -- Killian wanted to report her, meaning he wasn't sent by the Triskaideka Coven, or he would have been there for her life. And she already knew she was not his match. "What do you want?" Sarah tried to calm her voice, but she failed to hide the fear. "What all wandering mage wants with a criminal?" Killian laughed brightly, "Rewards, of course." "I have money!" Sarah blurted in panic, only to remember that Killian was the heir of Dunn Group, the empire with assets that measures by billion, "I -- I have a totem, from which you can drain power!" Mages would protect their totems well because they would get hurt if their totems are hurt, just like wolves to werewolves, and what was worse, was that a mage can drain one's power through another's totem to add their own. It was the worst thief in their world. "Hmph, why would you give it to me when you could have used it yourself?" Killian cocked an eyebrow, sitting down on the sofa gracefully with a leisure posture, waiting for a chance to get close to the basement door. "It's sealed, of course," Sarah tried to maintain her calm, "I can't break it, but you are more powerful." "Interesting," Killian curved his lips, "show me." "I'll be right back!" Sarah hurried upstairs, and Killian rose his cane and shoot a beam of ocean blue spell at the basement door. Red waves spread across the door and Killian let out a cold sneer. "What are you doing?" Sarah came back with a wooden box in her hand, her eyes traveling to the basement door nervously. "Are you trying to trick me, witch?" Killian put on a cold face, "You think I can't tell the strongest seal in this house is on that basement door?!" "But--" Sarah stammered in confusion. Killian didn't want to go against Sarah directly by demanding Evelyn -- he wanted to be on Ava's good side, and crossing Sarah might get Ava to be angry at him. "I came here to offer my help, and I hope you can see that by noticing I haven't alert the authorities about you yet," Killian faked an angry look, "yet you are trying to trick me with that box in your hand when clearly the treasure is in your basement!" "It's not like that!" Sarah's fear overcame her suspicion, "The seal on the door only works as a lock, and there is no treasure in there! Here is the totem I told you about, it belongs to another criminal and you can use it with no worries!" "Really?" Killian tuned down his anger, taking over the totem, "Whose is this--?" He pursed his lips when he saw the quill pen lying lifelessly in the box because he recognized it instantly. How could he not? He read all about the Walters sister when he came onto this mission-- It was Scarlett's totem. "You knew about her!" Sarah laughed, and it was the ugliest smile Killian had ever laid eyes on when it was an awkward, yet cocky smile that mixed with fear, "You can find ME, then you must know about HER! It belongs to Scarlett Walters, my twin sister, Wanted Mage No. 125!" "What's your story?" Killian let out a light laugh that didn't reach his eyes, "Because you are twins, so you have to follow your sister even in crimes?" "She thought she was the prophecy one!" Sarah snorted coldly in anger, "She thought she was better than me on everything?! She--" Sarah took a sudden halt, looking even more awkward when she realized she let her jealousy took over her. "She's also wanted, and you can pay her a visit, too," Sarah fawned at Killian with vicious eyes. "Thanks," Killian curved his lips evilly, "I just might." With a snap of his finger, instead of turning red, the mark on Raymond's palm disappeared. "So do you think you can cut me some slack?" Sarah begged with her hands gripped together in front of her chest, "I gave you the most precious treasure I have, and I swear I'll straighten out my crime with the coven right away!" "And how do you plan to do that?" Killian snorted coldly -- her existence was a crime because the crime was mating with a werewolf -- it was strictly forbidden by the Triskaidake coven. Sarah even committed the same crime as Scarlett, except Scarlett did it out of love, when Sarah thought Scarlett wanted to give birth to the hybrid in the prophecy and so she found herself a werewolf, too. Sarah didn't even love Noah White. But the prophecy was made about them -- the golden gemini, the Walters twins, and one of them was bound to give birth to the hybrid that would one day lead the coven. And Sarah would rather die than let Scarlett be that legendary mom, or else she would never even think about mating with a filthy werewolf! That was why she hated Evelyn so much, and why she stole Ava from Scarlett when they gave birth at the same time! It wasn't a mistake. Sarah sought out Scarlett and hid in the hospital Scarlett was staying at-- she needed to take the hybrid child at all cost, and she knew it was Ava when Evelyn was born a wolfless, so she switched the babies. It wasn't even Sarah's due day, but she pushed it forward with magic and gave birth to Evelyn when Scarlett gave birth to Ava first. Evelyn was a premature, and that was why she was weaker than most throughout her childhood. Evelyn was so tiny and weak, and almost died at birth, and Sarah left Evelyn in that thundering night, with Scarlett's totem. Scarlett lost half of her power when Sarah sealed her totem, and that was why she couldn't defend herself later and caused William to die for her. Sarah was worried that Scarlett might find out about the switch and come looking for Ava, so instead of leaving Evelyn with Scarlett, Sarah exchanged Evelyn with a random werewolf kid born that night, and that was how Evelyn ended up with the Stones-- A werewolf couple that died tragically. They died at the hands of the Triskaideka coven when mages were sent to look for the hybrid -- they traced Evelyn's totem, a painting brush, the only thing about the hybrid they saw in the prophecy. The totem that Scarlett sealed, and therefore stopped the coven from tracking Evelyn, until two years ago when James called the coven out, and almost cost the life of Evelyn. "Let's just say, I know what the coven wants," Sarah gave him a cocky smile.Raymond has been working overnight for days.[Eve, why was the big bad wolf working late again last night? I miss him!] Willa nudges Evelyn in boredom, demanding. Like Evelyn missing Raymond, Willia misses Sysiphus and maybe more. The spell's breaking restored the memory of Scarlett, James and Raymond, and Evelyn suddenly got all her family and friends back with no life-threatening risk hanging over her head. But that isn't the case for Willa. She is clean like a newborn baby and the only one she knows now is Sysiphus. Not to mention, Sysiphus adores Willa like no one else. Willa would only talk to him and Evelyn, not even Raymond.Things were so great for a month or two after Sysiphus marked Evelyn, but then he suddenly got busy, and so did everyone else. Though they see each other at breakfast, that had been their only chance to see each other in a whole day.[I'm sure we can see him tonight, it's Friday after all,] Evelyn rubs her forehead, getting a headache from the baby that had
Raymond came early. He didn't dare take more people against Killian's request, but he sent men to monitor all the mages in the city when he came to the warehouse hours early and lurked around. When it was reported to him that several important members of the coven disappeared, he knew something was wrong. So he woke up Sysiphus and came close to the house, only in time to hear Killian's words.Killian: "I can explain..."But Sysiphus wasn't in the mood to hear.[You can't go in rage right now!] Raymond was watching Sysiphus carefully in his mind, ready to take control at any moment, [I told you she would be in a bad condition, and you--][I have learned my lesson, Raymond, I won't lose it. I went into deep sleep because I was worried about the witch's mate bond spell, but not now when I see my mate with my own eyes.] Sysiphus answered calmly, his eyes landing gently on the white wolf floating in the air.The shade of cocky that had always been in his voice was gone, replaced by an earn
Killian persuaded Ava to use the same warehouse where she peeled off Mathilda's wolf.He saw real fear in Ava's eyes and he knew to Ava, the moon goddess truly existed and that Ava really believed she wouldn't be protected in that warehouse by her goddess. But why stains two places on the earth when she obviously enjoyed peeling off wolves, right? She might do more in the future. This logic persuaded Ava.Right now there they were. Ava and Killian, standing in the dusty, empty, abandoned warehouse, with Evelyn between them in a magic bubble, covered in burnt scars, barely alive. There was only one beam of moonlight throw the window, and Killian put Evelyn right under it.Ava kept her distance -- she had developed a moonlight-phobia since Mathilda. Killian glanced at his watch before he bowed to Ava: "Would you want me to do the honor?"Ava shook her head. It was so scary last time, and she couldn't even imagine how she pulled that off all on her own. But this time she felt a frantic
For four days straight Evelyn was kept in a magic bubble, naked.Fire would burn her skin crispy before ice froze her limbs. Then again, and again. Until she was at the edge of death, and that was when the mage guarding her would heal her wounds to prevent her death. And then a new cycle of fire and ice.Every day Ava would come visit Evelyn with only one question: where is your totem?Ava saw Evelyn's power. It was a much more pure and strong magic than anything Ava had ever seen. Maybe Killian's was stronger, but his power wasn't as pure.Ava wanted Evelyn's power. She had been stealing from Evelyn all her life -- she stole Evelyn's mother, father, identity...Everything! Why not this one more thing? Sara stole Scarlett's power successfully! But Evelyn wouldn't budge. Even at the edge of death she never begged. There were a few times when Evelyn tried to take her own life, and Ava had to add more men on guard just so they wouldn't kill Evelyn by accident.Evelyn really wanted death.
Midnight, a warehouse.Killian stood in the darkest corner of the warehouse where Mathilda's wolf was peeled off her, waiting.Raymond slipped a piece of paper into his collar when Raymond grabbed his collar before punching him in the face. He only realized that when Raymond patted over it. On the note were these words--[Midnight, THE warehouse]Even now Killian was still shocked at how far Raymond really could see.Raymond saw through Ava's whole plan when he didn't even have magic! He tricked everyone when he accused Ava of the crimes Evelyn was supposed to have done, so they all thought Raymond was only there to clear Evelyn's name when--What Raymond wanted was to meet Killian without anyone's attention! The depth of Raymond's plan made Killian's blood run cold. Once again he felt fear for what an awful enemy Raymond would be.No doors moved, nor any windows. But suddenly Raymond walked out from a shadow into the center of the room. His head held up high and he was looking at the
Ava never loved Raymond, but it didn't mean that she didn't want to conquer him. The man who every girl in the city admired, how could Ava not want him?! But all he ever gave her was insult and humiliation! Finally she got power and she even stole Evelyn from him, but this man just wouldn't submit in front of her! How dare he?!"You kill me now without me accepting your rejection, then you can never have another mate in your life," Raymond threatened with a serious tone, but instead of looking worried, Ava lay back with a cocky smile.Raymond curved his lips."What are you laughing at?!" Ava's face twisted -- the annoying Alpha! She hated his arrogant confidence!"I'm laughing at how simple you are. It's so easy to read you," Raymond shook his head slowly, taunting Ava with a smirk, "I just threatened you with a life of no mate, yet you don't look afraid at all. You should at least act, because now I know--"Ava held her breath without realizing it because she was nervous that Raymon
