Sheryl’s P.O.V.

“Are you sure that you will be okay alone?” Ms. Wendall asked me worriedly, holding my shoulder in a light grip.

“I… I guess so,” I replied, still shaken by what happened earlier. Our car was followed, and they even hit the car from behind. Sam got a wound on his forehead when his head banged against the wheel.

The only good thing was that Mike was okay.

“If you want to, I can call your grandfather. I am sure that he would have known about the incident by now. They hit your car in broad daylight on the busiest street. The whole pack is now buzzing with the accident news.”

My eyes widened in shock and I shot up on my feet immediately.

“No, you know his condition, Ms. Wendall. He shouldn’t know about the accident,” I almost screamed at her in panic while grabbing her shoulders tightly.

“Calm down, Sheryl. The pack knows only about the accident, not the people inside it. So, don’t worry. Your grandpa will not know,” she explained calmly, cupping my face with her right hand and holding my arm with her left hand.

I collapsed on her while taking heavy breaths. I was now relieved. My grandfather’s heart condition is critical, and any kind of stress can be fatal for him.

That was also the reason that I never let him know about what happened to me in school and at other places in the pack.

For the next few moments, I cried silently in her embrace while she comforted me and helped me calm down.

I only had my grandfather as my family. I endured everything so that he could live a few more years.

“You are a strong girl, Sheryl. You don’t worry about your safety anymore. I am sure that Alpha Adrian will be able to catch all those rogues lurking around in our pack by the time you will leave the school,” Ms. Wendall said to me, still trying to comfort me.

“Thanks, Ms. Wendall.” I thanked her in a choked voice.

“You have us with you, Sheryl. You are not alone.” She patted my back gently and slowly moved me away from her.

“Go and freshen up. If you still do not feel well, you can come back here and have some rest. If you feel better, you can go to the class. I suggest you attend your classes. This way, your mind will be occupied, and you will not think about this incident anymore,” she suggested, and I nodded in response.

She patted my cheek gently and then walked out of the infirmary. I sniffed harder and wiped my face with the back of my hands before walking out of the infirmary. There was a restroom next to the infirmary.

So, I went straight there and splashed some cold water on my face. The coldness of the water gave me a sense of relief. I closed my eyes and let the coldness calm me down completely.

I had already skipped the first period today because of the accident incident. Sam, somehow, succeeded in getting away from them even after they hit the car badly.

I couldn’t see what happened after that, as I was holding Mike tightly in my embrace. We both were trembling hard but holding each other tightly to minimize the extent of injury if we were about to get any.

Two warriors left me at school with Ms. Wendall, who was waiting for us at the school entrance.

She took me directly to the infirmary, as I was still shaking badly at that time.

“Why do you have the smell of another wolf on you?” I screamed at the top of my lungs in horror when a cold voice hit my ear from behind.

A hand immediately covered my mouth, making me panic more but I eventually calmed down when I realized who was behind me.

He still had his hand on my mouth, but the next second, he wrapped his other hand around my waist, pulling me closer to him.

“Why do you have the smell of another wolf on you?” he asked me, growling lowly out of anger.

I shivered hard in fear because of the intensity of his anger.

I tapped the back of his hand on my mouth, requesting him to remove his hand so that I could answer him.

“Are you so desperate for a boy that you can’t even stay away from him in the morning?” He growled angrily, ignoring my request; his grip tightened around my waist.

I felt suffocated because his large hand covered both my mouth and my nose.

I tried to move his hand away, but he was an alpha, a fully grown alpha, and I was nothing but a fragile, wolf-less girl.

I tapped the back of his hand so many times and he finally removed his hand from my mouth.

I gasped aloud, putting my hands on the edge of the sink as I had little strength left in my legs to stand up straight.

He held me tightly and to my surprise, he patted my back.

“Mike… Sam’s son. He.. he was with me in the car this morning wh… when they attacked.” I succeeded in explaining to him why I had Mike’s smell on me.

“Did you see them?” He asked me the next, his voice calm now, still patting my back.

I shook my head when I couldn’t speak again. I was still gasping for air.

I closed my eyes but suddenly I remembered something that I forgot to tell Ms. Wendall earlier.

“Tattoo.” I whispered and immediately opened my eyes and immediately looked at him.

My gaze met with his hazel green eyes. My breath hitched but I needed to tell him.

It was important.

Sylvester moved my body towards him, still holding me by my waist.

“You remembered something.” He mumbled and I bobbed my head furiously.

I was scared of him, and he knew this very well.

“Relax…. They can’t come here.” He said to me when I couldn’t utter a word because of our proximity.

It was when I realized that both of us were alone in the restroom, and this place was in the farthest corner of the corridor outside.

“What did you notice?” he asked me patiently this time.

I blinked and jerked my head. “Yes, Tattoo.” I replied, trying to speak better.

“Th… they aren’t rogues. Th… they had black helmets on their heads, an… and they had gloves on their hands.” I described them while trying to remember anything else, discreet about their clothing but it was just a fleeting glance when they hit the car on my side and I looked outside before closing my eyes in fear.

“Th… there is a tattoo on .. on his ne.. neck… at th.. the junction… th.. they were hunters.” I told him, gasping furiously in the process.

Sheryl’s P.O.V.“You still didn’t tell me why you were out of the school early, Sheryl. And why were you injured again?” Grandpa asked me sternly, walking right behind me while I was trying to run out of the home as soon as possible, and I almost stumbled while wearing my shoes.“Goddess, Grandpa! I told you yesterday that I fell during PE. Now you once again start acting like a nagging granny. Stop acting out of your character.” I whined, trying to sound dramatic, but he was my grandfather.“And you want me to believe this crap, huh? I was occupied yesterday and didn’t pay attention to your injuries. This is, I guess, the fourth time in the month that you fell during PE, right?” He asked me, grabbing my arm and flipped me towards him.I felt a pang of guilt because of my lies, but there is no way that I could tell him the truth. How could I tell him that it’s the future alpha and his gang that had made my life hell in the school? My grandfather’s loyalty towards the pack and the alph

Gabriel’s P.O.V.“No one knows about my return today. Still, I was ambushed by those rogues right inside the pack. Care to explain how they managed to deceive the border security and roam in the pack as if they owned this place?” I asked the present beta, Calvin’s father, Caden. My voice was steady and calm, as I didn’t need to lose my temper here.“They entered the pack from the eastern part of the border where we share the border with a human town, and that part is mostly guarded by the humans.” Caden told me, his posture stiff and voice strained.“And why don’t we have any of our guards or any vigilance there?” I asked him in frustration.Caden stared at me but didn’t reply.“For goddess’s sake, Caden, this is the 21st century, and with all the advanced human technologies and ours, we don’t need to put guards there. We can just put a few surveillance cameras there and can monitor our borders while sitting in a damn monitoring room.” I yelled at him, trying hard to suppress my anger

Sheryl’s P.O.V.“Be careful, Grandpa. You don’t want to go back to the hospital, do you?” I asked him teasingly while helping him ascend the stairs. The building had five floors, and our apartment was on the third floor.“I hate that place.” He grumbled but it only made me giggle.“I know,” I teased but kept him steady on his feet. His body was still wobbling a little as if he was drunk, but we knew better.“Admit it, Grandpa, you are getting old now.” I continued the conversation going on, teasing him from time to time.“Mind your tongue, young lady. You are old.” He immediately flared and I laughed. After my mother’s death, my mother parents took care of me. My father abandoned me and went away. I learned a few years later that he transferred him to some other pack after my mother’s death, and he found his second chance mate there. In short, I was completely supported by my maternal grandparents and after Grandma left us three years ago, now it was only Grandpa as my closest family.
