Roman didn’t get to spend much time comforting his sweet little butterfly. And even though she needed him, she didn’t reach out to him either. He knew that she had been through quite the ordeal, and yet, not only did business wait for no one, but neither did wars. Natasha had been right – her father was furious, and wouldn’t let the matter slide quietly, even if the provocation had come from his precious daughter – but Roman just couldn’t have allowed someone like her, someone he considered a danger to Rose’s wellbeing, to remain alive. The Bratva might control some parts of the city, but Roman's family controlled most of it. They might have many men on their side, but Roman had skilled people under him, not just mindless, irrelevant pawns. Nevertheless, it took him a damned week, thrilling albeit gruesome fights, and some long tiring negotiations before he and the little bit*ch’s father came to an agreement. When it was finally time to go back to the base, he told Ludo who was
“You truly have some nerve, sticking to Roman’s side like glue,” the voice that reached Rose’s ears wasn’t unfamiliar. She was ti*ed down to a chair, blindfolded, utterly and completely powerless – at their mercy – but at least she now knew who had ordered her abdu*ction.Natasha sure was an obsessed mafia heiress. Possibly a bored and reckless one too. Rose smirked and then let out in a taunting manner, “Missed me?” “You think you’re funny?” “I know I am,” she nodded, her smirk widening. Even though Rose didn’t know the details, she had an idea about what awaited her. And even though she expected violence, her head still snapped to the side, because of the slap she received. Being blindfolded sucked. Nevertheless, she spat her saliva in a manner meant to provoke the mafia heiress some more. “Keep talking, and I will fuc*king gag you.” The warning would have made a lesser woman cower away, but Rose was anything but.“Oh, don’t threaten me with a good time, sweetheart.” “Not
Rose didn’t speak to the scarred man, and didn’t object when the doors were locked. She didn’t even heave a sigh or cry. Being trapped in a closed space with the man, who had threatened her away from her people, who hadn’t batted an eye in telling her he would blow up the clinic, should feel scary… And yet an eerie calm settled over her, and she wasn’t sure why. Sure, her life was a bit of a tangled mess. But her precious Mey was safe, and on her way to recovery. Her mother, and last kin, was in rehab, and she was glad that she was finally getting the help she needed. Would she be missed if she were to disappear? The frosty blue eyes of the man she loved to bits came to her mind. She knew Roman had not said the words she longed to hear, but he would undoubtedly miss her. Flora and Enzo too, maybe even a few others. When her abductor told her in a cold voice to give him her phone, she didn’t hesitate to hand it to him. She watched with mild interest as he threw it out of the win
Rose was finally no longer on bed rest. She felt like she could breathe again, smile again, and even live again, despite the void that sometimes threatened to consume her. Sure, she wasn’t quite at the stage where she felt whole again, but she was plenty thankful for the surprisingly quiet life she led at the base. That being said, considering how much Roman, and everyone really, attended to her as if she were made of glass, she hadn’t had the chance to check on Mey in quite some time. Sure, she called Dr Cooper every few days, but that wasn’t quite enough in her book. That day, she finally mustered the courage to ask Enzo for a ride to the vet, “I’d love to go see Mey.” Because of his injury and their almost fraternal bond, Enzo had become her shadow somewhat; fretting over her like a mother hen, caring for her like a brother, and telling her dad jokes good enough to make her giggle often. “I’m going to have to ask the boss first,” he offered her a sheepish smile. “You can do
Rose was in the gardens, chilling, a few days after she and Roman patched things up, when there was a bit of a commotion at the entrance. Like the curious little cookie she was, she found herself going there, as if her feet had a mind of their own. To her surprise, there was a woman, clad elegantly, and no doubt expensively, looking at everyone down her nose, as if they were beneath her… and she was the cause of the ruckus. “You have no business being here,” the usually jokester of the guys, Enzo, wasn’t mincing his words. The woman in turn didn’t sound pleased when she answered, “Well, I am not here for you, am I?” “What’s the issue?” Rose couldn’t help but ask, finding Enzo’s words a bit harsh, and his behavior more or less appalling. The woman wasn’t exactly doing anything wrong, and if she knew the address, then she was no stranger to who they were… or so Rose reasoned. The redhead’s eyes focused on her. Her eyebrow twitched, and she let out, “You must be Rose. I actually c
For the next 3 weeks, Rose lacked for nothing, and had never been this pampered in her lifetime. Yet, no amount of desserts, and no amount of gifts, nothing really, managed to bring a genuine smile to her face. Ever since she had lost the baby she hadn’t even known she was carrying, she was no longer whole. And though Roman had assured her, time and time again, that it wasn’t her fault, she couldn’t help but think that it was. She had only gone back to the base a week ago. The hospital stay was only this long to ensure she would rest well. “I’d like to sleep in the guest bedroom,” she told Roman on the ride back. He gave her a look before saying, “You belong in the master bedroom, little butterfly.” She wasn’t sure whether he was secretly worried she might collapse again, or if he just didn’t like the challenge, and ended up agreeing – because what was she supposed to do really? She knew she was already in too deep. And navigating troubled waters, she didn’t bother hiding the
