I left the hospital 4 days ago. We still haven't heard anything about Kaleb. I'm sick to my stomach thinking about him out there all alone. We are supposed to be leaving today. Mark and Diane don't want Lily and I to stay here. They want us to at least go back home and stay at their house. I can't even think about anything else right now. I feel empty, like a piece of me is gone.

Diane is getting a rental car to drive us home today, while Mark stays here to wait to see if they find Kaleb. I wanted to stay.

"Riley, are you all packed?" Diane asks me.

"I don't have much. Just the clothes you bought me. It's all in that backpack." I point to the backpack across the room. Diane picks it up and leaves the room with it. Lily comes into the room from outside.

"We're leaving in a minute. Dad is going to drop us off at the rental car place and we'll transfer all of our stuff into the car. Are you ready to leave?"

"No." I say, looking up at the ceiling.

    I wake up in a hospital bed. I don't remember falling asleep or how long I've been here. I have warm blankets around me and I feel a hand in mine.
