ADELINA'S POV
I was completely blown out of my mind when I heard him. Mikhail Romanov was a mystery to me. A seasoned businessman who suddenly popped out of nowhere and stormed the entire business world. There was very little about him online but there were rumours of how ruthless he was when taking out his competition and how much underground connection he has. When I said I was ready to do anything in my mind, the most degrading thing that crossed my mind was to be his servant at his mercy, but it never crossed my mind he would tell me to strip in a public event. I bit my lower lip in between my teeth, not only because of how nervous I felt in his presence but also thanks to the Bullet wound in my arm. "You must be joking, that can't be a request." I blurted. Thinking he would laugh out, saying it was a joke, but he didn't budge one bit. He stood tall with his hand in his pocket and his eyes keenly observing me. His lips parted, and my heartbeat dropped at his next statement. "Do I look like I am joking?" He arched his brow at me. "Big words and I thought you were ready to do whatever it takes." He scoffed at me then his eyes trailed away. My hands clenched until my fist turned white instigated by his words. "The request is absurd. I can't strip in public." I gritted my teeth at him. He didn't seem bothered by my reasoning; without a doubt, we were the centre of attention. A bloody bride and the biggest business tycoon. My veil was still attached to my hair. "It is a simple request or will you prefer if I say kill someone here." He suggested then beckoned on someone I think was part of his security. The tall guy approached us and pulled out a slick pistol. I stared at the gun, stunned at the nerves he had to request I murder in the open air. "You have two options: either you strip, or you use this gun and shoot that lady in the head." He pointed out a particular lady I recognized to be a social elite. "If you can't choose either then get the hell out my way." His eyes darkened, annoyed by my presence. He was, as they said, a devil. How could he ask me to strip in a public place? I was out of options. It was either I lost my pride as a woman, or I got convicted of murder. He was not scared of openly saying things like this because he was so rich that even the government didn't have a hold on him; instead, it was the other way around. "Fine, I will do it." I barely whispered but I think he heard me. My throat went dry and I nervously gulped down. His eyes didn't leave me even for a second. I slowly reached for the threads at the back of my dress because it was a corset dress fastened with thread. I slowly loosened the knot and started to undo the lace. Viktor might be a devil but Mikhail was a sadist. He had an evil grin amused at my actions. I started to doubt if approaching him was the right choice. It was not too late to turn back, Viktor was probably raking through the streets looking for me now. I knew the type of person he was; Viktor was never going to leave a single member of the Marino family to roam free. A potential threat that could come after him. What did I do to be in this situation? All I wanted was to get married to the man I loved. After I was done with the thread, my eyes locked with Mikhail's eyes. His Adam's apple gobbled. My hands reached out for the shoulder of the dress to pull it down. My eyes pressed together as this would be the most embarrassing and degrading moment of my life. The doors burst open, and everyone's eyes were drawn to the entrance, saving me at the nick of time. A bunch of men dressed in black tailored suits trailed in and then he walked in. I could recognize that raven black hair and blue eyes anywhere. It was not hard for Viktor's eyes to find me since I stood out in the room in my bloody wedding dress. Viktor's eyes darkened when he spotted Mikhail, and for a slight moment, Mikhail's expression changed with a fleeting emotion running through his eyes. It happened so fast that it seemed like I was seeing things. Viktor looked away from him, and an evil lopsided grin graced his face that scared the shit out of me. Every step Viktor took towards me seemed like death was walking towards me. My entire body trembled. "It seems your husband is here to take you on your honeymoon." Mikhail nonchalantly chimed. Everyone in the room knew Viktor. He was the king of the underworld and was equally shaken except for one person who seemed amused by Viktor's entrance. "Honeymoon my ass, he was to take my neck to the guillotine." I sneered, which was not too far-fetched; chopping my head off was not a hassle for Viktor to do, he would probably be grinning while watching. Viktor stopped a few steps away with his eyes locked on us. " Adele, why did you run away from the wedding and end up ruining your dress? We are yet to attend our reception." He chimed with a tender gaze acting oblivious to the fact he just unalived my entire family. He even called me by a nickname how sweet of him. I have never been more disgusted. "I am not going anywhere with you, Viktor," I said through my gritted teeth, backing away from Viktor. Viktor still maintained his facade, putting on a hurt gaze. "What do you mean by that? If anything is the problem we can sort it out together." He said, still maintaining his tender gaze, walking towards me. "The only way we can sort out differences is if you kill yourself." I spat back at him, still backing away. Viktor got enraged with his facade falling apart. He briskly stormed forward. "You know it is rude to storm into someone's party without sparing a minute to greet them. Our parents taught you better dear little brother." Mikhail whispered just loud enough for the three of us to hear. He blocked Viktor from moving forward with his arm. Viktor's face turned ugly with his sharp gaze glaring at Mikhail. It was at that moment I realized something that was right in front of me the whole time; they both had the same raven-black hair and deep blue eyes. They could pass out to biological siblings. "I am here for my runaway wife's brother. Sorry for rudely interrupting your party." Viktor said with a forced smile. What the hell was happening? Was it possible they were brothers? One ruled the underground world while the other controlled the business world.VIKTOR'S POV In all my years, I have never seen Mikhail in a condition like this. It almost made me laugh, the brother I was raised to hate. The one who never showed any weakness could be forced into a situation like this because of a little girl.. Adelina was dumbfounded by the course of events. I stood firm in front of Mikhail and my stance refused to waver. "What is the meaning of this?!" Mother barked, or rather, I would say Elena. I stopped seeing her as my mother ages ago. She probably didn't see me as her son, just a loyal dog. I didn't answer her, but I linked to Mikhail. "Can you still stand up, Your royal majesty?" I taunted him. Mikhail scoffed, his teeth gritting as he managed to get on his feet. Duncan groaned, "You didn't raise your son properly. " He sneered through a mindlink then lunged at us. He was a powerful Lycan, a former alpha with more experience. I stood protectively before Mikhail shielding him from danger while he struggled
ADELINA'S POV The storm roared above, but it was nothing compared to the chaos beneath it. His sharp gold eyes were staring intently at me. I didn't know what was going on in his mind since he was in his wolf form, not that it mattered. Viktor stood before me with his teeth gritting at Mikhail. He was seething in fury ready to attack at any moment. Mikhail growled, his eyes filled with fury. I raised my hand, then clenched it. I had gone too far already to give up now. He brought this on himself, I reminded myself. "Shift," I commanded, putting in my all. A scream erupted, a groan of pain. It wasn't Mikhail of course. It was the other wolf with him, whom I assumed was Raphael. He howled, falling to his knees just like the others, his body started to forcibly shift back to his human form. Infuriated, Mikhail rushed towards me, lunging at his full strength. Viktor got into action immediately and tackled him down, then Lawrence, who wasn't far off, charged in
ADELINA'S POV The rain thundered through the sky. That stench of sweat and blood filled the air it was almost sickening I had a perfect smile on my face. His blue eyes were staring straight at me, shock, fear and guilt. I didn't look away. I wanted to savour the moment when he realises his weak human mate can take on his perfect army. My mind drifted to a few hours ago, after I was informed about the attack plan. "We will be leaving soon," Elena chimed, she had a proud smile on her face. In her eyes, I looked like her most prized possession. The former queen approached me, then held my hand. Her hold made my skin crawl, I bit my inner cheeks to hide the disgust I felt. "Without you, this day would never have been possible. You ceased your own destiny, Adel." She praised me. Her hand then cupped my cheeks. "I am only holding my own end of the bargain. Just keep yours." For the first time, I didn't feel like a prisoner but someone with bargaining p
MIKHAIL'S POV I wasn't expecting much by going to Adel's room yesterday. Her sharp witty rejection was exactly how I imagined. Adelina Marino was more than what met the eye. She looked more brave and confident now but she was blindly letting herself be a pawn. Her hatred for me was just one of the many reasons she was like this. This was the exact reason why I wanted to keep her hidden from all these. Her naivety, she was a protected princess her entire life.In the end, they got to her. My eyes strayed to an old portrait on my desk, and something caught my attention. An old picture of 5. A family portrait I didn't know why I still kept it after all these years. My hands reached out for the frame, pulling it closer. Viktor was smiling in the picture. It's been ages since he smiled next to me.. This was taken before we turned enemies because of rivalry. A loud knock on the door drew me out of my thoughts. Even without the person announcing his pre
ADELINA'S POV My brows furrowed, and those annoying sparks rushed to my cheeks. It was gentle, a thumb was rubbing my cheeks patiently Annoyed, I turned to the other side, my entire body was still very exhausted, and all I wanted to do was sleep. Then something soft and wet touched my forehead. The strong jolts of sparks forced me to open my eyes. I wished I had kept them closed. My heart jumped, shock evident in my saucer wide. Eyes. It wasn't a dream or a nightmare. Mikhail was on my bed looking at me with a tender gaze. I blinked twice to be sure I wasn't seeing things. It was still those blue eyes which made me weak to the knees. That perfect sculpture face I effortlessly fell for. The man I was claimed to be mated with. The same one who never truly accepted. "Mikhail," I gasped then hurriedly sat up. My eyes darted around the room, and indeed it was my room in Viktor's stronghold. The windows were closed, but I could still peek outside
ADELINA'S POV She smiled sweetly at me, and the resemblance between us always leaves me dumbfounded. "You will have a chance to escape very soon but the question is if you want to." She chimed. I laughed at her words, finding them ridiculous. If I get a chance to escape I would jump at it without thinking twice. I wanted to get away from all this chaos. Somewhere none of these brothers could find me. I didn't really care about revenge. I hated them, but dear little Adelina was just a puppet in their hands. A human in a den of wolves. They were all predators. The only joy I had from this was that at least I would make Mikhail suffer. "I would run on the slightest chance I have. " I snickered. Her smile grew, "You won't. Your fate lies here." She answered, her words still as ambiguous as ever. I shook my head, dismissing her, then closed my eyes and took a deep breath, enjoying the peace. I knew once I woke up it would be another round of training. My eyes shot open,
