“But she's a Gamma,” I argued.

From the information I had gotten, it did show that she was the child of a Gamma and she herself was a Gamma.

And a Gamma is below Alpha, even below Beta as well. So it's very strange that she can fight off my pheromones.

“A Gamma?”

Look, Doctor Bram is surprised too.

This is indeed a rare case because already and always a Gamma is not stronger than an Alpha. Their pheromones would also be inferior to the Alpha's pheromones, but not Cassie's.

Could there be something I missed about Cassie being a member of Pack Arcanum?

"Sorry Alpha Jayden, it looks like we need to take Luna Cassandra to the hospital for further examination. Blood tests and some other tests need to be done."

“In short, when will she wake up?

The doctor handed over Cassie's examination results. "There's nothing unusual from the examination. Her blood is normal but her pheromones are unstable. But that's normal during this mating season. It will get better in a few days."

“Exactly how many days?” I asked emphasizing. I didn't accept uncertainty.

“About three days, Alpha Jayden.”

Three days? That's a long time.

In that time it was likely that Dad would take that woman and Noah to visit me and Cassie. If they knew that Cassie was here, it would be very dangerous!

“So she won't wake up for the next three days?”

“That's the case.”

I gritted my teeth. "Why can you only give a possibility from now on? You're a doctor, so you should be able to give certainty!"

“I'd like to, but this case is different.”

I couldn't stay silent. If the doctor had thrown up his hands, then I had to ask for help from an elder, someone who could give me a solution.

"For now Luna Cassandra will be getting injections every five hours to stabilize her pheromones. The medical team and I will evaluate for the next three days. But if there is no change, then-"

I grabbed his shirt. "What do you mean by saying that! Are you saying that Luan Cassandra will die?"

Was he out of his mind to say that?

How could someone who broke my curse die?

There's no way it's because she saved me from the curse and she has to suffer the consequences, right?

I released my grip and ruffled my hair in frustration.

What the hell, how could Luna who I had just married and appointed as my bride in front of all the Pack Nexus members have to abdicate because she died?

Searching for her hasn't been easy, it's been years, and I should just let her go?

I won't! I'll do whatever it takes to keep Cassie alive!

Besides, inside her belly is my child who will also save Pack Nexus from destruction.

Everyone in Pack Nexus knows that I'm a cursed werewolf who can't produce offspring but I still have a chance for 3 years after being crowned to break that curse.

"Although the case is unique, the way pheromones work is the same. If a stronger pheromone attacks a weaker one, it either overpowers it or kills it. Just like poison."

I clenched my fists at my sides. “You said we should wait until three days right?”

“That's right Alpha Jayden.”

Alright, I'll figure out a way within these three days for Cassie to regain consciousness.

"Make sure you take good care of Luna Cassandra during these 3 days. Give her anything that can keep her alive. Do you understand?

”I understand Alpha Jayden."

I punched the wall beside the door.

I was mad at myself.

Well, I shouldn't have been careless by marking her thinking I could control her. But what was this? I almost killed her instead.

“Hagen!”

"Yes, Alpha Jayden? What can I do?"

I fisted my hands by my sides. “Order the elders to come here.”

“Alright, I'll pick him up.”

Hopefully the elders could help me this time.

I went straight to Cassie's room after that. I needed to confirm something.

For now she was safe here because of the tight escort.

The bodyguard opened the door for me.

And Cassie's position was still the same, she was still lying on that gurney with tubes stuck in her body.

It still feels like a dream. A few hours ago she was still fine and in an instant she was already in a state between life and death.

I sighed and approached her.

It's because of me that she became like this. This is indeed my fault. I brought her into my dangerous world.

I thought that by marrying her and marking her that she would be forever by my side to break my curse, but instead I put her life in danger.

She's just an ordinary woman trying to find help for being forcibly sold by her own father to a nightclub. And she trusted me as her helper but I almost took her life.

I don't know what she'll do when she wakes up. Maybe she'll scream in my face and cuss me out.

But I guess it's better that way than her having to close her eyes like this.

I pulled my chair closer to the gurney.

I held her hand to try to read her future. But nothing, I didn't see anything even if it was a blurry shadow.

I was sure there was something off about this woman.

I can read all the futures of people I hold hands with or look into the eyes of, but I couldn't read Cassie's future except for that night after she fell asleep when we finished our sex.

I stared at her face intently.

It wasn't the first time, but every time I saw her face, I felt de javu. It was like I had seen her before our first meeting at the club that time.

I don't know what kind of memory it is, but I feel familiar with this woman.

“Are you really just an ordinary Gamma?”

Another way to confirm her identity was for me to find the father who sold her. That way I could interrogate that lecherous man and know more about Cassie.

“I feel sorry for you, you had to end up like this when you just wanted to run away from the club.”

Besides pity, I also felt guilty.

I'm sure she's a good woman. Even at the crucial moment where she was sold that night, she still thought of her patients in Pack Arcanum rather than herself who was already trapped.

She must be a very responsible doctor. It's just that her fate wasn't too good that she had to meet me and go through this.

I turned my face to the side.

The longer I looked at her, the more guilt consumed me.

I thought that because of the healing ability she had, she could resist my pheromones, but apparently not. My pheromones were too strong for her.

Cassie, she saved the Pack Nexus from great destruction. And I promise that I will also redeem her.

I'll repay her by protecting her from harm. And if she asks for anything else, I'll consider it.

I'll do my best to keep her safe and make sure she can wake up again.
