Chapter 53
Storm
I tried to take a deep breath to calm myself down, but my lungs were so tight that I couldn’t get a lungful of air. My heart was beating so fast that I felt like I had tachycardia. Tachycardia is a condition I had recently been learning about in class. It is a medical condition where the heart beats too fast, and in doing so may not pump enough blood to the rest of the body. This can starve the organs and tissues of oxygen and can cause symptoms such as: shortness of breath, light headedness, rapid pulse rate, heart palpitations, chest pain, and even fainting.
As I stood there, I decided that being Alpha Doyle’s mate was bad for my health. Turning in the doorway, I bolted out the door and raced down the hallway. I needed to get out of this house. I needed to get out of this territory.
“Lena!” I heard Alpha Doyle shout as he followed me down the hallway.

Alpha Doyle Without another word, I made my way up the stairs and into my office, locking the door behind me as soon as I entered, ensuring that Lena didn’t do another runner. Walking over to the lounge chair, I dropped Lena onto it, then stood and waited until I had myself under control. As I stood before her, I watched as Lena shrank back into the lounge chair, pushing herself as far back as she could go. A moment later she brought her knees up and rested her folded arms on them. I felt my chest tighten, as I saw that she was visibly shaking and on the verge of tears. As I watched her, I found myself wondering what had happened to her to make her so afraid. Alpha Doyle I closed the door and went back to where Lena was sitting. She was still sitting there and not saying a word. “Lena, you need to talk to me love. I need to know what is going on. Storm I had been sitting there on that lounge for what felt like forever. I was so wound up, that my stomach was in knots, and I was shaking. My lungs and chest felt so tight, that it was hard for me to draw a breath. I was also battling an overload of adrenaline within my system. I kept my guard up, as I continued to make sure that I was aware of where Alpha Doyle was at any given moment. I continued to sit there while he sat at his office desk and worked on his laptop. Storm I was laying on the floor drowning in my own misery over what had just happened. Alpha Doyle’s wolf was standing over me, watching me, almost like he was waiting for me to do something. Storm He broke our kiss and began placing light kisses on my neck once again. I tilted my head back giving him better access. His fingertips traced across my ribcage. I placed my hands on his shoulders, loving the feel of solid muscle under my fingertips. He surprised me when he lifted me up into his arms and carried me over to the lounge chair, laying me down on the lounge, before he lay over me, pressing me into the soft material of the lounge. Storm Later that evening as I was leaving the lounge room to go upstairs to bed, I saw the girls giving each other looks and the thumbs up gestures.
