“Another glass, please,” Belle whispered, her voice trembled slightly as she pushed her empty glass toward the bartender.

Her eyes were red, and her heart felt like it had been shattered into a million pieces.

“You okay, miss?” the bartender asked, eyeing her with concern.

“I’m fine,” she forced a smile, though it didn’t reach her eyes. “Just… celebrating the end of something.”

She downed the next drink quickly. The burn of the alcohol was the only thing that numbed the pain of the betrayal she had just discovered.

She felt dizzy, the room seems to be spinning around her. Needing air, she stumbled away from the bar, weaving through the crowd. She wasn’t looking for anything other than a quiet place to breathe, but her feet seemed to have a mind of their own.

Without realizing it, she pushed open a heavy door and found herself in a corridor. She opened another door, thinking it was a restroom, and stepped inside.

It was a private lounge, smelling of expensive sandalwood and cigar smoke. And there, standing near the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the city lights, was a man... Draven Blackwood.

He turned around slowly. He was tall, with broad shoulders and a face that looked like it had been carved by gods. A sharp jawline, piercing grey eyes, and hair as dark as midnight.

She froze, her breath caught in her throat. “I… I’m sorry! I didn’t know this room was occupied.” She tried to turn back, but her legs felt weak, making her swayed slightly.

Strong arms caught her before she could fall. His touch sent a jolt straight through her body.

“Easy there, woman...” his voice was deep. “You’ve had too much to drink, little one.”

“I’m not little!” she mumbled, looking up into his eyes. She should have been afraid, should have pulled away, but there was something magnetic about him. Something that made her forget everything else. “I just… I wanted to forget.”

“Forget what?” he asked, his gaze is intense as he held her firmly.

“Everything,” she whispered, tears started spilled over. "All the pain because of his fucking betrayal!"

He studied her face for a long moment. Usually, he would have security escort anyone who trespassed out immediately, but seeing her tears, seeing the raw vulnerability in her eyes, something in his cold heart shifted.

“You don’t deserve to be sad,” he said softly, his thumb brushing away a tear on her cheek. The gesture was gentle. It's completely unlike his usual demeanor.

“Who are you?” she asked, leaning into his touch instinctively.

“Someone who wants to make you forget tonight,” he replied, his voice dropping an octave. “And you?”

“B-Belle,” she breathed out. “My name is Aurelia Belle.”

“Belle,” he repeated, as if tasting the name, and memorizing it. “Beautiful name for a beautiful girl.”

The alcohol blurred the lines between right and wrong, and the chemistry between them was too powerful to ignore. The world outside ceased to exist. There was only him, and only her.

It was wild, passionate, and felt strangely like coming home. For one night, she wasn't the broken-hearted girl; she was desired, she was loved, and whole.

The morning sun was harsh, streaming through the curtains and hitting her face.

She woke up with a throbbing headache and a dry mouth. As consciousness returned, so did the memory of last night. Her eyes flew open, and she turned her head slowly.

Lying next to her was the man from the party. He was sleeping peacefully, his chest rising and falling. He looked even more handsome in the daylight, but panic instantly seized her chest.

What have I done?

Shame washed over her. She was naked in a stranger's bed. She didn't know his name, his job, or anything about him. She had acted impulsively, driven by heartbreak and alcohol. What if he thought she was just another gold digger? What if he judged her?

Her heart hammered against her ribs. She couldn't face him. She couldn't stay here and have the awkward conversation. The only thing her terrified mind could think of was to run.

Moving as slowly and silently as possible, she gathered her scattered clothes from the floor. She dressed quickly, while her hands shaking. She glanced back at him one last time. He looked so peaceful, and perfect. She felt a pang of regret, but fear was stronger.

She slipped out of the bed and crept toward the door. Just as she was about to leave, she hesitated. It felt wrong to disappear completely, like a ghost.

She spotted a notepad and pen on the desk near the door. With trembling hands, she wrote just some word:

Thank you for making me forget all the pain just for one night.

—Aurelia Belle Crawford

That was all she could give him, nothing more.

She opened the door slightly, checked that the hallway was clear, and slipped out, running away from the hotel room, away from the man, and away from the best and worst night of her life. She didn't look back, not knowing that this decision would shape the rest of her destiny.

Inside the room, Draven stirred. The sound of the door clicked shut pulled him from sleep. He opened his eyes, reaching out instinctively to the side, expecting to feel warmth, but his hand met only cold sheets.

He sat up abruptly, scanning the room, but it was already empty. He ran a hand through his messy hair, a frown formed on his forehead. The memories of last night flooded back, the teary eyes, the soft skin, the name she had whispered. Belle.

He stood up and walked to the window, naked and powerful. His eyes caught the piece of paper on the desk. He walked over and picked it up.

Just simple gratitude words and her full name, written in delicate handwriting.

“Aurelia Belle…” he murmured, a dark, possessive glint entered his grey eyes. “You left me with just a name… but you can’t run from me. I will find you.”

He crushed the paper slightly in his fist, his jaw set tight. He didn't know who she was, or where she came from, but one thing was sure.

He wasn't going to let her disappear forever.

The moment the news settled in, Draven’s entire world seemed to narrow down to one single priority: keeping Belle safe. What started as gentle concern quickly escalated into something far more intense, turning their peaceful home into a place where Belle felt like she was being watched every second of the day.It began subtly at first, but within forty-eight hours, the rules were laid out clearly and firmly.“Wait,” Draven said, appearing beside her as she turned toward the staircase. He immediately offered his arm, his expression serious. “You don’t walk down stairs alone anymore. It’s too easy to slip.”Belle blinked, pausing with her hand on the railing. “Draven, I’ve walked up and down these stairs hundreds of times. I’m fine.”“Not anymore,” he insisted, gently guiding her hand to rest on his arm instead. “Doctor’s orders. And besides, I’d rather be safe than sorry. From now on, you call me or one of the guards whenever you need to go up or down.”That was only the beginning. Lat

For nearly a week now, Belle had been feeling completely out of sorts. She’d woken up every morning with a dull, twisting nausea in her stomach that lingered well into the afternoon.Even the simplest tasks felt exhausting, just walking from one room to another left her feeling breathless and heavy-limbed. Worse still were the sudden, overwhelming waves of emotion that seemed to hit her out of nowhere. One moment she would be fine, and the next her eyes would fill with tears for no reason at all, or she would feel irritable and on edge over something completely trivial. One afternoon, she sat at the kitchen table, resting her head in her hands while a glass of water sat untouched in front of her. Leo, Aiden, and Luna were playing nearby, but she could barely muster the energy to smile at them. “Mommy?” Luna asked, wandering over and touching her hand gently. “Are you okay? You look very pale.” Belle forced a weak smile and patted her daughter’s head. “I’m fine, sweetie. Just feelin

The secure holding suite was luxurious but suffocating, floor‑to‑ceiling windows overlooking the private airfield, plush leather furniture, yet not a single place to hide. It stayed quiet for only a moment after Mr. Bonanza stepped forward and laid the thick evidence folder onto the glass table.Veronica stared at the contents: printed bank transfers with offshore routing numbers, timestamped call logs, screenshots of encrypted messages, and a signed witness statement from Ms. Carter. Her eyes darted over every line, and slowly, a hysterical laugh bubbled up from her throat wildly. “You think this is enough to break me?” she spat, slamming her palm against the table so hard papers fluttered. Her face twisted with scorn, eyes blazing like embers. “I am a Hale! Our family name runs deeper than the law, richer than your fortune! I do not rot in some cold cage because you two decide it! I'd already proven that!” Draven stepped closer. “This isn’t about your family name anymore, Veron

The interrogation room was cold with a single overhead lamp. Seated on one side was the woman who had pretended to be a teacher, Ms. Carter, or whatever her real name was. Her hands were cuffed together, resting on the metal surface, her face set in a mask of cold indifference. Across from her sat Draven, Belle, and the head of his private security team, Mr. Bonanza. “You can sit there and stare at me all day,” the woman said. “I have nothing to say. You’ve got nothing on me. Just a misunderstanding, that’s all.” “A misunderstanding?” Draven leaned forward slightly, his voice calm but heavy with danger. “You attempted to abduct my daughter! You threatened her. You lied to my sons. That is not a misunderstanding. That is a crime. And if you don’t start talking, you will spend the rest of your life in a maximum-security facility where no one will even remember your name.” She let out a dry, mocking laugh. “Empty threats from a rich man trying to play hero. I know how this works. Y

The morning sun hit the windows of Blackwood Academy. Leo, Aiden, and Luna walked side by side toward their classrooms, their backpacks light but filled with books and notebooks. They were well-known around the school—three brilliant, well-behaved children who stood out not just for their intelligence, but for the confidence they carried in every step. “Remember what we practiced,” Leo said, adjusting his bag strap as they reached the entrance to the main building. “If anything feels wrong, if anyone says something that doesn’t make sense, you stay close and don’t listen. Got it?” “Got it,” Aiden nodded, pushing his glasses up his nose. “Security protocol level one. Stay alert and assess all situations.” Luna skipped slightly ahead, her eyes bright and curious. “I know! If it’s not Mommy or Daddy or anyone we know, I don’t go with them. And I yell help really loud!” Just then, a woman stepped out from the direction of the office. She wore a neat, professional suit, her hair pulled

Two days later, the worst one arrived. It was heavy, wrapped in plain brown paper, left right in the center of his desk in his private office. Belle walked in to bring him coffee and froze when she saw it. She knew exactly what it was before she even touched it. Her old diary. The one she kept every single day for three years. The one she thought she had burned and destroyed long ago. “No… no, no, no…” She rushed forward, hands outstretched, but the door opened behind her. Draven walked in, followed by Aiden and Luna. “What is this?” He asked, seeing the package. He reached it before she could stop him, tearing off the paper. The familiar worn black cover stared up at them. Belle stopped breathing. Her heart hammered so hard she thought she would faint. “Draven… please… give it to me,” she pleaded, voice breaking. “Please, just give it to me. Don't open it. Don't read it.” He looked at her, confused, sensing her absolute terror. “Belle… what is this?” “It’s nothing. Just… ol
