LOGINSelina's POV
I came in front of the mirror in the bathroom, splashed some cold water on my face. It sobered me up, and then I stumbled out and grabbed some clothes.
Seriously? Yoga pants?
I dug deeper in my closet but couldn't find anything decent to put on.
Oh, come on, Selina!
As I stretched my legs into the comfy pants, I couldn't help but think, "Look at you now, you've really turned yourself into a total housewife, not a Luna. Your world is between Nora's Cubs' House and the pack's supermarket. And, you're always standing by for any last-minute order from your mate: a pack's routine meeting, booking a nice restaurant for him to meet up with another Alpha or Beta, choosing a new tie to match with his new outfit..."
I shook my head and gripped my fists tightly, my entire body shaking.
After all, this was what I got: Betrayal!
Violet howled in my chest; it was both rage and desperation.
"No! I won't let him take everything from me! I helped him build the Silver Moon Pack and the company, and I will take what is mine!" I said to myself.
…
I got into my car and navigated "Silver Star Co."
After almost half an hour of driving, I reached the western border of our pack. It was like a modern city compared to my pack — the center of the entire werewolves' realm.
Companies from every pack set up their offices in this area.
I came to one of the tallest buildings, and its glassy surface reflected the sunshine, which stunned my eyes.
I had never visited the new office after Luka picked this new location.
I took a deep breath and walked through the revolving door.
A guard studied me up and down and then looked away.
From the moment I stepped into the grand lobby, I knew this was a premier office building. The polished granite floor, the reception desk made of hardwood and brushed metal, the floor-to-ceiling windows, and a chic cafe. In the central atrium stood a black wolf figure. It towered there, regal and formidable, with an air of silent authority.
My eyes were fixated on it for a long while, and it somehow brought out the inner strength as a werewolf myself.
"Ma'am, how may I help you?"
I snapped back to reality as the receptionist's words cut my thoughts.
"Ah... Yes. I'd like to meet Alpha Luka. His office is on the fifth floor," I said as I checked the address on my phone.
"Do you have an appointment?" Her words were emotionless.
"I'm his..." I wasn't prepared for it, and I stuttered.
"Oh, he just went out with Luna Selina, his mate.” She said as she typed something quickly on the computer with her manicured fingertips.
Luna Selina?!
I froze there, dumbfounded.
What the hell did she mean?
The last time I checked, I was still Luna of the Silver Moon Pack! So, who was this other "Luna Selina"?!
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes for a second, trying to suppress the rage from deep down and to ignore Violet's low, continuous growl in my throat.
As I opened my eyes again, I asked her, "Are you sure of it? He left with Luna Selina?"
"Of course, I am. I often see her around. It's hard to make a mistake," she said casually.
"I see." I turned back and strode through the grand hall, heading out.
Somehow, I chose not to say more, and I didn't want to make a scene here. It was for Luka, and for me as well. But this wasn't over. I would find out who this woman was!
…
As I stood outside the building, I dialed Beta Jake's number. He was a senior manager at the company, and he knew Luka's schedule.
"Hi, Jake. It's me. Luna Selina." I raised my tone.
"Oh, good morning, Luna Selina." He paused, "Wow, it's been a while. How's everything with you? Is there anything I can do for you?"
"Indeed, it's been a while since we last met." I looked down at my feet. "Well, in fact, there's nothing important."
"Luna, anything you need, just say it," he replied quickly.
"Well, I wonder if Alpha Luka has finished his meeting this morning. I called, but he didn't pick up."
"Meeting? Well, there was no meeting this morning. But he is not at the office now."
"I see. So, I'll just call him later." I hung up.
I crouched because my legs were trembling. Squeezing the phone in my hand, I wanted to call Luka right now and ask him where he was and who he was with directly.
But what was the point of it?
If I called, he would just come up with another lie and fool me again.
Suddenly, a ripping pain was tearing my heart apart. No, no, the pulling of our mate bone was killing me again.
"Luka! What the hell are you doing right now?!
Then, I remembered that he forgot his little brown bottle at home in his coat this morning. So, this time, I would be able to smell the scent that didn't belong to either of us.
I dragged my hollow body back into the car and drove home.
I stopped by the supermarket as usual and bought Nora's favorite foods.
After I returned home, I cooked up a storm in the kitchen, not for Luka, but for Nora, my baby girl. Though she would always be Alpha's daughter, I wasn't sure if Luka would still love her the same way as always, after he had cubs with another she-wolf.
But, as Nora's mother, my love for her would never change.
As I thought so, tears streamed down my cheeks.
I said to myself, "Luka, I will find out your secret tonight!"
Selina's POVI didn't press for the rest of the pack members to stay. I knew better than to corner Luka completely right now. I needed him to make a concession."Can't we just go home and talk about this? Why are we airing family issues in the middle of the office?" Kole stepped forward, his deep voice laced with impatience.I turned a sharp, unyielding glare toward him. "You're about to find out exactly why.""Selina, watch your tone!" Luka roared, his Alpha aura flaring. He wasn't used to this. For years, I had been the sweet, and meek Luna. They had all gotten far too comfortable with my silence.I snapped. I bolted upright from the sofa."Luka, you got used to me talking softly, haven't you? Let me tell you something—this is me being polite. Don't you dare push me any further!"I knew exactly why Luka was acting so tough today. He thought the Bolton Group project was practically in his pocket. He thought h
Selina's POVThe hospital room door flew open, and Elise rushed in, her eyes frantic."Selina! Are you OK?!"Her words cut off instantly as her gaze locked onto Damon, who was still leaning over my bed. She blinked, completely caught off guard by his sheer, imposing presence."Who's he?""Well, this is Alpha Damon," I said, introducing him with a subtle wink."That... Damon..." Elise choked out, suddenly realizing she was gaping. She quickly cleared her throat, trying to regain her composure. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Elise. Selina is my best friend—we grew up together, and she's like a sister to me..."For some reason, Elise started rambling, her cheeks flushing slightly as she took in his jaw-dropping looks.Damon let out a soft, deep chuckle that resonated through the room. He reached out and shook her hand."OK, I'll leave you girls to catch up with each other," he murmure
Selina's POV"A secret? You're so utterly shameless, Abby. How could you possibly have any secrets left?""Oh, come on, Selina. I've sent you so many pictures. Have you enjoyed them?" she said, taking a slow, casual sip of her wine."Since you're so good at playing the quiet, I figured you just don't want to leave him. Am I right?""Come on, drink up! You don't think I'll drug you, right? We're sharing the same bottle. See?"She titled the bottle of wine."You knew Luka cheated; you should have packed your things and left. What are you waiting for?" She looked at me, completely indifferent, tossing her hair back."Whatever. It's not like you can control what we do anyway. Just a heads up, Selina—he can't live without me."She leaned against the sofa, checking her manicured nails. "By the way, how do you feel about the diamond ring he bought me? Oh, and he also bought such a nice villa for me. I'm moving
Selina's POV"I need to talk to you. Will you come?" Abby's voice boomed through the phone."Really? Why didn't you say it just now?" I demanded, my grip tightening around the phone."Well, it's something just between you and me. I'll send you the address."Then, she hung up.I stared at the phone screen, my mind racing. I had no idea what kind of twisted game Abby was plotting now, but a knot of unease began to twist in my gut.I grabbed my keys, threw on a jacket, and headed out to my car.As I pulled out of the driveway, I dialed Elise's number, thinking it would be smart to have backup—or at least someone who knew where I was.But the call went straight to voicemail. I remembered then that she was out of town on a business trip.Damon.The memory of his warm hand and the soothing scent of dark chocolate and peppermint flashed through my mind, tempting me.No, I shouldn't re
Selina's POVDamon kept his gaze fixed on the running stream.I didn't think he planned to answer my question. I knew there was something behind those golden-amber eyes.Suddenly, he broke the tension and got up. He reached down and gently wrapped his large hand around mine, pulling me up in one smooth motion."Go get some sleep in the treehouse."He gave me a playful wink, a faint, boyish smirk playing on his lips."This whole place is packed with healing energy. It'll do you good."I blinked, looking up at him. "What about you?""Well, I'd love to share the treehouse with you, if you don't mind," he teased, his voice dropping into a low, gravelly vibration."Well... I..." My tongue tied instantly. My wolf was practically purring in my chest, but my human brain was spinning.Damon let out a soft chuckle. "I'm messing with you, Selina. Just go up. I'll be right down here."I nodded,
Selina's POVI instinctively pushed him away. The rejection caught him off guard.Damon didn't let go immediately; instead, he lingered for a fraction of a second, his touch trailing reluctantly as I pulled back. When I looked up, his expression was a heart-wrenching mix of longing and a faint, almost boyish disappointment. He looked genuinely hurt, like a man who had finally found a piece of something precious only to have it snatched away.I tried to move away, wanting to put some distance between us, but at that exact moment, he reached out. His fingers circled my wrist, gentle enough not to bruise, but firm enough to tell me he wasn't ready for me to leave.I couldn't bring myself to look into those amber eyes. I knew he was a good man, or at least, he had been nothing but a savior to me so far.But the truth was, we had only known each other for a short time. I didn't know his past, his secrets, or the darkness that might be lurk
