"We're going to the Redwood Pack for a couple of days to follow up on some leads," Rick told me, attempting to sound nonchalant.

"No way! But what about your job." I could hear the fear in my voice, but Rick had an answer ready.

"Beta Mark can take care of it," he comforted me. "He'll explain to everyone that we're on a brief holiday - without the kids. We're only bringing Gamma Teddy with us."

It wasn't long before the staff completed packing our suitcases. Watching them move systematically through the corridors, I couldn't help but think of my children. I had to bid them farewell before we departed.

In the playroom, Edsel and Gian were seated on the floor, working on their puzzles. They glanced up, the keen young eyes of the two scanning my face the moment I came in.

"Mommy, where are Mommy and Daddy going?" Edsel, the elder of the two, inquired. He was always so perceptive.

"We're just going on a little vacation, baby," I replied, bending down to their level.

It was early morning, and I was on the balcony of the Redwood Pack's room, glued to the stunning view of the waterfalls dropping down the cliffs. Pine-fresh air and the distant roar of water filled my senses, and for an instant, everything around me turned serene.A light tap on the door interrupted my thoughts. Jestine came in, followed by an omega with a tray of coffee and breakfast."Good morning, Luna," she said with a bright smile. "My husband, Winkle, and Alpha Rick are having a serious debate regarding the missing women. When I learned that you were awake, I thought I'd bring you breakfast.""Thanks, Jestine," I answered, looking over at the chubby-cheeked little boy in her arms. My heart melted at his bright eyes. "Well, well, Kristoff is cute."Jestine glowed. "Yes, I am a happy mom.""He takes after you," I noted, running my fingers over his silky curls. "What a pretty little boy."Jestine smiled wryly. "He will become a powerful alpha someday."I agreed. Standing there, our

The Missing WomenWe sat in the receiving area after dinner. Rick and Alpha Winkle were in a heated discussion, their speech soft but insistent."We've lost several of our pack females over the past few weeks," Winkle explained darkly. "Vanished without a trace."Rick's face clouded. "When I was a child, my mother, the late Luna Queen - abolished the slave trade and prostitution rings in these regions. If the women are vanishing again… it might be that they're in business again."I shivered. The mere idea of such atrocities still present was too much to bear. "How is it even possible? How are there slave traders even in our time?Winkle shook his head. "That's what we have to determine."This was no ordinary holiday. We had arrived to learn something nefarious, and I felt we were merely scratching the surface.Rick's eyes blazed with determination as he balled his fists. "Slavery is a relic of the past - or so we all thought. But the reality is, there's more than meets the eye beneath

Chapter 73: Bella's POVBella's POV"You would've been taken from me," he growled, his voice thick with raw venom. "So I hope Georgina is roasting in hell currently."I tensed, stunned by the raw hatred oozing from his voice. But then—humor. A small, dry laugh rose in my throat. What the devil? The woman he cared about. Was he really referring to me?Oh, the irony. If Cole hadn't betrayed me with Georgina, I would never have met Rick. I would never have fallen in love. It was he who discarded me like a piece of worthless rubbish, and now he wanted to play this tragic, grieving actor? Please. The same guy who had sworn for eternity that Georgina was his true love now hoped for her damnation in hell. Men were so predictable. Before I could utter a word, a soft, questioning voice pierced the thick silence. "So… who is the love of your life?"I spun hard. "Edsel, don't," I breathed, quickly covering my son's mouth. My heart racing, I looked back and forth between him and Cole. Edsel sc

I blinked in shock. And this is what this was about. The outside hires were arguing that the treatment of them and the North Moss Pack workers was different."Constructor Torres, what's this all about? Is this true?" I asked firmly.Torres also seemed as shocked as I did, wiping sweat from his forehead. "I had no clue… but I swear, I treated everyone the same! I don't know how this happened.""Figure it out!" I snapped. "I won't tolerate discrimination here!"Whispers ran through the workers, a combination of anger and mistrust."Right on! You're most likely paying your own folk more than us," someone growled from within the crowd."Quiet."Rick's voice cut across the gathering tension like a knife. It was icy, crisp, and appalling. It worked at once. The muttering ceased, and the mob fell silent. His black eyes flashed with fury, and in that instant, I realized none of them were afraid of me, but Rick? He could make tough men tremble in their boots with a glance."You work here, you play by B

  • Twice Fated   Chapter 71: Workplace Conflict

The following morning, I made it a point to go check the sports complex construction site. It was nearly ready, with the main building fully built and finishing touches being put on. The exterior walls shone in the sun, freshly painted with the pack emblem boldly featured. Workers were putting up the last layers of stadium seating, while others polished the floors of the indoor courts. The aroma of paint and cement hung in the air, punctuated occasionally by the sounds of hammers and power drills.Jestine, the project manager, could no longer handle the last phase. She had just married Alpha Winkle of Redwood Pack and was now in labor with their first pup, a strong baby boy whom they named Kristoff. With her busy, I personally took charge of seeing everything was going according to plan. I personally wished to check on how work was progressing and sort out any issues before opening.I brought my Gamma, Teddy, with me. When we reached the location, he looked at me with a worried expres
