Xander's POV

That pompous asshole! How dare he make such an ambitious move on my pack? I ought to have thrown his men out of my pack as soon as I got the chance.

I blame myself for this humiliation. I was a fool for trying to play the peace card but that wasn't going to get me anywhere. It was time to put on my big boy pants and play the game he was calling me to play.

I was going to stop begging and take matters in my own hand.

I walked out of the meeting room sulking and plotting. If he wasn't going to leave peacefully, maybe it was time I played dirty like him.

I didn't expect the figure I met as I walked out of the room. It was Luna Mia, the woman that had taken up space in my head beside the matter with Damion.

I stopped in my tracks.

“Luna Mia, here to see Damion?”

Her eyes traveled between me and the room that I had just stepped out from before finally settling on me.

“I was waiting for you,” she said calmly. “There is something I need to speak with you about.”

My first thought was that she had given thought to our discussion earlier. I had planted a seed in her and it seemed that it was beginning to bear fruit.

I placed a hand on her shoulder.

I had heard those words before. It was the usual tune women sang me before they began looking for comfort in my arms. I give them comfort but it wasn't from my arms, more from my groin.

I am a womanizer. Don't think I'm going to deny it. It was my personality. I can't help it when I see a pretty woman. I immediately want to show her my bed.

I had wanted to get down with Mia.

I had heard about her even before I appeared in the pack. There were rumors that the woman that Damion had married was beautiful. I had to come down and see for myself what all the hype was about.

I must say I was impressed by her beauty.

I wanted her as soon as I set my eyes on her.

Now the opportunity has fallen into my laps.

I led her out of the hallway. Just as we walked a little further down the hallway, I heard the door I just walked out from creak open.

We both turned and there was Damion.

“Mia!” He called with a harsh tone. “Get away from that womanizer now!”

For someone who has claimed that he didn't care about her, he looked really worked up to see my hand over his wife's shoulder. It stares could kill, his eyes would have sawed right off its stem.

“I don't appreciate being called such names. And there is no need to shout commands at Luna Mia. Me and her are just having a little talk.”

The little smirk on my face had done its purpose. His fists clenched.

“What is going on? What the hell are you two supposed to talk about?”

“It's none of your concern, Alpha Damion. This is a private meeting. Besides, you had just announced to everyone that you didn't care what happened to her. It shouldn't bother you what happens between her and I.”

I gave him a wink before leading Mia. I felt her shoulder tense under my arm but I didn't see her resist my guide.

“Don't worry,” I whispered. He's not going to do anything to you.”

That only went fine while I was there. When she got back, I knew his temper would surely be off the roofs. I didn't care about it later. I cared about that moment and whatever she was about to say to me.

The courtyard was where I took her so we could be alone. I made sure to keep out of Nyla's sight. She was already looking for me I would assume.

We settled down in the brick seats and this time there was hardly any distance between us. I turned to face her, putting a hand in the back of her chair. “So what is it you wanted to talk to me about so badly?”

She fiddled with her fingers. I could see nervousness eating her up. ”It's about… um…,”

“Spit it out already.”

“I overheard your discussion with Alpha Damion.”

“All of it?” I asked surprised by her answer.

“I was more attracted by the part that you said that you own a grand fashion company.”

I sighed. “Yes. It's true. Why do you ask?”

She dropped a bombshell. “I want to work for you.”

I looked her over. “Is this some sort of prank?”

“No. Do I look like the kind of person that would go around playing tricks?”

“You're being serious,” I muttered in surprise. “What do you know about fashion? Most importantly, why does a Luna like you need a job? Is the Alpha not taking care of you?”

“For your information I know a lot about fashion, more than you, apparently.”

“Is that so?”

“If you show me a copy of your designs right now, I'm going to point out all that's wrong with them and give you suggestions about how to improve them.”

I called her bluff sharply. She gave me a dare face and I had no choice but to find out if this woman was bluffing.

She took a skim of the photos.

“Here, you need to show more skin. People don't want to cover up the clear and beautiful skin that they went through rigorous routines to acquire. The shoulder needs to be chopped off and there should be a higher slit on the skirt.”

I added the changes to the design and it turned out a whole lot better than the previous design. “Wow, you have a real knowledge about fashion.”

“That is why you need to let me work for you. I could help you get up to a great standard that Damion will not be able to compete.”

I sighed. “I know you'll be a great fit but I can't hire you. Alpha Damion would not allow it.”

“Leave that to me. As long as you're ready, I am and I can start helping your company get back up.”

I sighed. It wouldn't harm to give her a shot. Besides, it is a great opportunity to have her around me.

“Fine. You're hired.”

Damion’s POVThe night stank of scandal.By the time I left Mia standing on that balcony, the storm inside me was worse than the chaos that had unraveled in the ballroom.I was supposed to be in control. Always. My word was law, my presence enough to command silence. Yet when I looked at her—when I saw that fire in her eyes, that unyielding defiance—it rattled me.I should have crushed it.But instead, I wanted more of it.The corridor stretched before me, lined with gold sconces, polished marble, and guards who lowered their eyes as I passed. They bowed, but the usual satisfaction that came with such submission wasn’t there. My mind was still on her.Lyra.Mia.Or both. The way she said she had already died once—spirits, it made my chest tighten. Her voice had been steady, but I caught the tremor underneath. That wasn’t a performance. That was truth. And truth like that was dangerous. My fists curled at my sides. She thought exposing Nyla would bring her justice. She didn’t see the b

Lyra (Mia)’s POVThe ballroom stank of betrayal and fear.Even as Damion’s hand guided me through the dispersing crowd, the whispers clung to my skin like damp cloth. I could feel their eyes burning into me—dissecting every word I had spoken, every ounce of fury in my voice. But I didn’t regret it.Not one word.Nyla’s face when the footage played would be etched in my memory forever. The way her mask slipped, the way her composure cracked, the way the smug princess of the Bennett family suddenly looked like nothing more than a cornered rat. For once, she couldn’t lie her way out.For once, I was the one holding the blade.Still, as Damion’s grip tightened around mine and he pushed open the tall balcony doors, cold air spilling in to wash over us, I felt my chest tighten. He let the door swing shut behind us, blocking out the muffled noise of chaos. Out here, it was only him and me. The night sky stretched wide and endless above, stars scattered like judgmental witnesses.I had barely

Xander’s POVThe echoes of her scream still clung to the marble walls long after they dragged Nyla away. The woman I once trusted. The one I let into my home, into my bed, into my future. Now paraded before everyone as a murderer. The flashes of cameras hadn’t stopped even as the chaos unfolded. Journalists in the back corner were still scribbling, their pens moving like hungry rats desperate for crumbs. The audience, once applauding me as a genius, now whispered, heads bent together in fevered gossip. My stomach churned. This wasn’t how tonight was supposed to end. I had envisioned glory, champagne, headlines celebrating Xander Design’s triumph. Not humiliation, not scandal, not Nyla dragged away like some criminal out of a cheap drama. And yet…I couldn’t bring myself to look away from her. From Mia.Or Lyra, as she had screamed at the top of her lungs—like she was daring me to remember. She stood there like a specter of my past, eyes blazing with vindication. Lyra (Mia’s) POVThe hall erupted into chaos.Gasps, screams, and sharp intakes of breath filled the air as the video froze on the last frame—the knife buried in my chest, Nyla’s hand pressed firmly around the hilt.A hush swept through the room, heavy and suffocating, before the murmurs began again, louder this time, urgent and venomous.“She killed her…”“Her own twin—how could she?”“The Alpha’s mate—what a disgrace!”Every pair of eyes in the hall turned on Nyla. Faces that had once adored her, envied her, or respected her now twisted with horror and contempt. The carefully painted mask she had worn for years was cracking, falling away piece by piece under the weight of truth.Mother was the first to move. She rose slowly, her hands trembling, her lips quivering as though they struggled to form words. Her gaze was locked on Nyla, disbelief and grief shining through her eyes.“Tell me this is a lie,” she whispered, voice shaking. “Tell me this is not true, Nyla…”Nyla staggered ba

Lyra (Mia’s) POVI had planned to take them down one by one.I didn’t expect both of them to line up against me.Damion remained on the stage. He was in the dark about this part of the plan, but he stood by me nonetheless. At this point, that was the only thing I could hope for.If Nyla thought ganging up with her husband would scare me into backing away, she was wrong.“I didn’t call him a murderer. I only called him an accomplice. You are the one who is the murderer!”Everyone gasped, their ears sharp and ready to catch the drama about to unfold.Nyla scoffed and threw her hands up in the air. “I have had enough of you handing out allegations all evening! You just can’t stand not being the center of attention, can you?”I could see what she was trying to do—go off topic. I could smell the fear on her, the fear that I might actually present evidence that would get her in trouble.Well, her fear was justified. Because I was about to end whatever career and reputation she had managed t
