Chapter 4

How on Earth was this Omega the brother to an Alpha? And he was far from the typical Omega. In the face of my Gamma's displeasure he showed no change, any normal Omega would be cowering in fear. While the Omega's in our pack were treated as equals we knew that was not the case with other packs. Omega's were weaker, and couldn't shift as often. Because of this they tended to be smaller and weaker, therefore taking service jobs and leaving the leadership and supervisory roles to the rest of the pack. Omega's tended to mate with other Omega's, but sometimes they mated with a Gamma, even rarer a Beta.

I narrowed my eyes at him, tail flicking nervously. This big, sleek, inky black wolf with amber colored eyes was the future Alpha and this Omega next to him, was almost as big as his brother. This Omega, standing tall, not ruffled in the least, stockier than his Alpha brother and only shorter by a matter of inches was unusual indeed. In an Alpha bloodline there were no Omega's, Gamma would be the lowest the blood would yield. Scenting the air there was no denying their ranks,

Feeling another presence I turned to see Christian approaching. His wolf small, lithe, a warm brown color with warm brown eyes. He had seen who we were with, and had come as back up or to be the yin to Jay's yang. His ears cocked forward as he silently took a place on my other side.

"I see you are well protected Alpha" the Omega drawled, his blue eyes dancing. Jay grunted beside me, and I felt Christian tense up a bit.

"Do you plan to attack me?" I queried, genuinely curious about this enigmatic creature.

"Not at all" he stated matter of factly. "Zach here doesn't seem to want to, can't say I blame him, shame to bloody such a pretty wolf." His mouth cocked up into a sideways grin. I rolled my eyes at him, this wolf definitely was not your typical Omega.

"She doesn't respond well to flattery" Christian's smooth baritone sounded next to me, "more like chocolate and coffee." The Omega laughed and Zach raised a brow.

    "Noted" the Omega said.

"Now" Christian broke in again "why aren't you fighting and who are you?" He looked pointedly at them both, and I realized the Omega had not introduced himself. Typical Christian, but that was why he was my Beta.

"Ladies first" he said, mock bowing to me. I gritted my teeth this damn wolf was infuriating and interesting. How exasperating. I took a step forward.

"I am CeCelia, daughter of Alpha Eric and Luna Dana of the Blue Moon pack, satisfied?" My tone clipped at the end in annoyance, though I wasn't sure why.

"I am" the Omega sat down, "Mike, as you know I am an Omega in the Red River pack and Zach's brother, twin brother to be exact." I felt the headache that had been brewing slowly get worse. Then I saw Zach straighten up.

"Zach, future Alpha of the Red River pack. Son of Alpha Damien and Luna Maya. I am not fighting because I don't see a point. I'm not interested in taking territories and killing others without reason." His dark eyes glinted in the light, and they almost seemed sad.

"Jay, Gamma of the Blue Moon pack. Son of Beta David and Gamma Jackie. And I am NOT pleased to meet you, regardless of if you attack or not." He threw a pointed look to the Omega Mike, who just smirked.

"Christian, Beta. Son of Alpha Kevin and Omega Hollie." I saw both Red River wolves look at him with questions, but they kept their mouths shut. Good, they had no right to know about Christians past, and doubtful he would tell them regardless. Christian was born of an affair between an Alpha and Omega, luckily he ended up a Beta. However, as the child of an affair he was shunned by his dad's family, including his wife and half siblings. His biological mother abandoned the pack, and him. When he was a teen Christian had chosen to leave, and he did so, running across the small Blue Moon pack in his wanderings. Once he was here, he discovered he fit in and decided to call it home.

A loud howl broke through my thoughts, it did not sound familiar. The howl choked off into a sound of distress, I nodded my head to Jay and Christian, maybe these wolves didn't want to fight but I had a duty to my pack. I looked at them, a work of contrast. Black, sleek, dangerous contrasting with bright, feisty, and seemingly harmless. This would have to wait.

"I hate to leave you unsupervised, however, I need to re join my pack." I saw the Alpha's eyes relay understanding of what exactly that meant, and his amber eyes narrowed slightly. With one last look at this rather puzzling brothers we re joined the fray, I silently hoped I would not meet them as for some reason I did not want to harm either of them, and unsure whether or not I would be able to hold my own in a fight against either of them. Turning forward I followed Jay and Christian into the fray. Hoping I would not see those brothers out there.

---------------------------------

The three of us walked side by side, our scents mingling together. It was a trick we had learned, no one would ever think a small wolf like Christian or a female like myself would be an Alpha. Sure if the wolf got close enough they could tell the difference, but from afar Jay was the target as the bigger wolf. Which was exactly the case now, Red River wolves surrounded us, snarling and baring their bloodied teeth. I felt my hackles rise, and heard the low thrum of Jays answering growl, Christian threw back his head and howled, alerting our pack that the Alpha was under attack. I knew to be ready as they would attempt to pick who they thought the weaker ones were off first, sure enough a dark brown wolf lunged at me. Dancing out of the way I kicked dirt at him with my paws, he spun around and snarled, a look of pure hatred in his eyes. I crouched, readying myself for impact, and when his jaws connected with my shoulder I snapped my head up and tore into his neck. Blood sprayed as I ripped his throat open and shredded his carotid artery, out if the corner of my eye I saw Jay dealing with a few wolves and Christian mid fight with a slightly larger wolf. Then I saw him, the Red River Alpha, his jaws and chest bloody and his eyes trained on me. I couldn't find my dad, but I knew he was fighting somewhere, my heart began to pound in my chest as this massive wolf began to slowly walk toward me, with all the stealth of an experienced killer. No, no there was no way I was strong enough to take on this wolf, his shaggy auburn coat glinted in the moonlight, and eyes black as night sized me up. He knew exactly who I was, and he was out for my blood.

I walked away from Jay and Christian, they didn't need to be involved in this. Slowly the big red wolf and I circled each other, waiting to see who would make the first move. I saw the fight in slow motion around us, and also saw many wolves watching to see who would be victorious. He was snarling, blood tinged spittle frothing at the sides of his mouth. He was already tired, worn out, maybe I had a chance.

Then he shot forward, I barely had enough time to move, and felt his fangs open the skin on my side. The blood oozed onto the ground in small drops, mingling with the blood already there. How many have died I wondered to myself, but snapped back to present when I felt teeth on my back. He picked me up and shook me like a dirty tag, tossing me several feet he laughed.

"Is this the best you can do little Alpha?" He said condescendingly, looking down his snout at me. I growled in response and stood up. He was strong, but was he quick, I scanned his body for an opening. I saw it, he was ungaurded by his back legs, if I could get ahold of his leg and vault myself into his back I could win. Committing myself to this course of action I charged, feinted right then drove left, my mouth open it connected with his back leg. Using all of my strength to pull it out from under him I yanked, and yanked again. I felt a pain in my tail and realized he had it between his jaws, in an effort to get me to release his leg he was pulling it. I clenched my jaw around his leg even harder, and yanked again, to my satisfaction he fell, taking the opportunity I bent his leg into an unnatural position until I felt and heard the snap of a bone breaking. He howled in pain, and my tail was free, jumping onto his back I grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and bit down. He couldn't stand, and with me on top of him he had lost. Jay and Christian appeared on either side of me, growling their displeasure of the situation. Unsure of what to do I was relieved when my father appeared, his coat stained with blood and a slight limp from an injured front leg.

"Let him up Cecelia" he said, his voice tired. I complied and the damn beast sprung up and twirled around to face me, teeth bared murderous intent emanating from him. Lunging for my throat he was stopped by a small brown wolf locking his jaws around his neck. Christian had attacked, so quickly we hadn't seen it. Jumping into action Jay quickly ripped open the other side of the Alphas throat while Christian crushed his windpipe. I looked down in horror as blood seeped from his neck and onto my paws, yet the threat had been neutralized and we had defeated the Red River pack. But what now?
