Chapter 8

The beam of light from the sunrise woke me up as it peeked through my window, giving me a little push to open my eyes.

I could hear the sound of the ocean's waves and the chirping of seabirds as they scoured for food from the outside. And I am here, squeezing my cheeks against the pillows as I try to feel the warmth of my blanket.

It was only for a moment that I could detect the scent of freshly brewed coffee as the breeze whispered in my ear. Coffee? As soon as I started thinking about it, I was eager to put my feet down to the cold floor. But I needed to sleep a little bit more, so I tucked myself even deeper into the sheets.

"Did you sleep well?"

"Yeah," I answered dreamingly with my eyes closed.

A voice with that kind of tone made me want to stay in bed all day long. A whiff of coffee fills my nostrils, and I exhale a sigh of contentment as my thoughts converge.
