Chapter 20. Learning Curve

I follow my father out to the training field. Stadium lights light it up. I see that Luca is following us as well. My father looks over at him and smiles. "I am glad you joined us. I am going to need your help."

"I will do anything I can to help Raine," is his reply, and I can tell it is the truth. "OK, both of you, come over here and stand before me." Me and Luca both walk to face him. "Hold your arm out to me, Raine." I do as he says and put my arm out in front of him, palm up. He says, "This might sting," then quickly takes a dagger and slices deep across my forearm. I scream out and grab my arm. "What the hell was that?" Luca lunges for my dad but is frozen in his spot.

"Listen to me, Raine. I need you to hold your arm back out. You can heal your arm, and I am going to show you how." It is then that I remember that he said I have healing powers. So I extend my arm back out.
