Chapter Nine

Stacey was surprised when a maid entered a room, carrying a full tray of food and also with a guard at her back. But what surprised her most was when the maid took her seat on the bed and watched her.

“Aren’t you going to leave?”she said after a while.

“I’ve been assigned to take care of you. Trust me, it’s not something I want either.” The maid retorted, making Stacey's lips curl up.

She was used to the behavior of the maids right from her pack, and it didn’t surprise her to see her acting like that. If her father’s maid could act condescending towards her and she put up with it for close to 20 years, why would she allow a maid of no one to act like that to her.

She was clearly hungry, and the food on the table was intriguing, so she stood up and walked towards it. She was sure the guards were standing outside, and a maid inside. Only the goddess knew what was going on.
