“J-Jackson…” he said softly.

He looked over and smiled at him. “What’s up Luca?”.

“I-I don’t w-want to go to s-school tomorrow,” replied Luca as he put the bowl away in a cabinet.

“You have to Luca,” said Jackson as he handed the boy a plate. “Your education is important.”

Luca didn’t take the plate but just stared at it. “They’ll b-beat me u-up again,” he said. His voice was so low Jackson almost didn’t hear it but he did.

Jackson put the plate back in the sink and turned to look at him. “Who Luca, who will beat you up?”

“D-don’t tell Jedidiah and Williams,” whispered Luca, a pained expression on his face. “T-there’s this g-group of bullies at s-school and if I go they’ll j-just beat me u-up again.”
