Chapter 2

Xian West's P.O.V.

"Doc, how is my son?" I heard a man talking as soon as my consciousness woke up.

Where am I?

It is so dark here.

Why can't I see anything?

"We have done everything we can, he is now in comatose, but we will do our best to wake him up" the other man answered, he seems to be a doctor.

The last thing I remembered was, I was in my car with Ayesha.

I am speeding up my car as I was somewhat mad at her for not telling me about her plans of leaving the country to further her studies.

Then we argued, and the last thing I saw was a blinding light in front of me.

We were hit by a truck.

I need to get up, I need to make sure that Ayesha is safe and sound.

"Please, Doc. Wake my son, I am willing to pay no matter how much, just make sure that he wakes up." The father said in despair, helplessness and despearation.

I tried moving my body but I cannot even move an inch. I can't control my body.

As I keep on trying to move my body, I can feel my consciousness weakening.

I heard a ringing sound akin to a defibrillator with a flatline.

Footsteps were soon heard.

"Prepare to do CPR" the doctor ordered.

My consciousness started to get blurry at this moment.

I cannot understand what the people I heard earlier were saying anymore.

Pain enveloped my whole body as I suddenly felt electrocuted.

'No, I need to know that Ayesha is safe' I shouted in my mind as I really felt sleepy right now.

I fought the urge to sleep as I don't know when will I wake up tye next time.

'Please be safe, Love' I whispered in my mind as I let my drowsiness eat me.

I slowly opened my eyes as I can feel the warm sunlight from the window striking my face.

I can feel pain all over my body.

I look at my left as I felt someone holding my hand.

"Ace?" I said weakly, my throat was dry, and my voice was hoarse.

He slowly moved and looked at me absentmindedly. Not totally awakened.

I can see that he still wants to sleep but he was suddenly shocked awake when he looked at me the second time.

"Xi?! Thank God, you're awake. Wait for me, I will just call the doctor." He stood up from his seat and ran out of the room.

I looked at my surroundings. I am now in a hospital room.

My room is just like the typical hospital room, the four walls were painted in white, no the whole room is painted in white.

There is a sofa in my left, in my right is the door of the room, next to it is the comfort room, and there is a chair next to my bed where Ace is sitting earlier.

The door sprung open and a man in his forties wearing a white coat walked in together with two people, a man and a woman in nurse uniforms.

They approached me and asked.

"How are you feeling? Do you feel any discomfort?" He checked my body as he asked those questions.

"I feel my whole body aching and I feel really weak but other than that there is nothing" I answered in a hoarse voice.

My throat is really dry, I don't know how long I was asleep, so it is normal.

"Can I get a glass of water?" I turned to the doctor and asked.

A nurse went to a table where a pitcher is placed and filled a cup with water.

He approached me and helped me drink.

The questioning took a few minutes more and after checking me and making sure that there is really nothing wrong did they leave.

The doctor said that they will still observe me and will run a few more test to make sure.

During the questioning did I know that I was in a coma for almost a year.

After the doctor and nurses left the room did Ace approached me and sat on the chair beside my bed.

"Bro, where is Ayesha?" I asked as soon as he sat.

"Bro…" he avoided my eyes and he started fidgeting in his seat, I can see that he is panicking and nervous.

"Bro, answer me, where is Ayesha?" I need to know if Ayesha is safe because we were together during the accident.

But after seeing Ace' s reaction, I started to get nervous.

"Ace, Answer me!!! Where is Ayesha?" I shouted as he still keeps his mouth closed.

Did something bad happen to Ayesha? Please no.

I sat up from my bed and remove the needle injected in my hand and the things attached to me.

I stood up even though I still feel very weak.

"Bro, calm down and get back to your bed" Ace blocked me, and held me back to my bed.

I pushed him. "Ace, answer me, where is Ayesha?!" I held his shoulder to make him face me.

Tears started to roll down my eyes. I know what his answer might be but I am still hoping that he will answer me differently, that I am just overthinking.

"Bro, Ayesha… sh-she's gone." He answered in a low voice but I still heard him as I was just in front of him.

"No!, no. She can't be gone, tell me you're just kidding, please Ace, you're just kidding right" I shaked him, as if convincing him that he is just joking.

That it is just a prank just like the pranks he did to me when we were little, but I can see from his eyes that he is not joking.

Who am I kidding? Why would Ace joked about this kind of thing?

I felt my knees going soft. I slumped on the floor but Ace held me and helped me sit on my bed.

"What happened?" I lay on my bed and asked.

"We were waiting for you at the restaurant but after an hour you two were still not there so I tried contacting bith of you, neither of you answered your phones. After another hour someone contacted me saying that you got into an accident, I immediately rushed to the hospital, when I got here you were being revived and Ayesha was in a very critical situation. Fortunately you were revived."

He stopped talking but seeing me just looking at him waiting for him to continue he spoke again.

"After a month, Ayesha was still in critical condition while you on the otherhand were put in a coma, her parents decided to send her to the states so that they can have a higher chance. We don't have any updates on her for two months when we suddenly just heard that she did not make it. I called her parents to confirm and they said that it was true." He finished in a sad tone.

He was also very close to Ayesha as he had been there from the start of our relationships, he watched as our love grow, he witnessed everything that Ayesha and I have gone through; the ups and downs of our relationship.

I stayed silent after what he said. I still can't believe that she really is gone now, it feels like just last night when we suppose to have dinner and I am planning to propose to her. All that is gone now, she's gone now.

Tears continued to roll down my eyes as I cried silently in my bed. Ace is just sitting in front of me, not talking.

I am thankful for that because I don't think that because I don't think that I would be able to converse with him.

I am still processing what I have just learned, my mind is in chaos.

I fell asleep while crying.
