“Shit,” I muttered under my breath as I quickly tried to wheel myself out of the orchard.

The rain was coming down harder now and the wind was picking up speed and slapping water into my face. I had been so caught up in the garden, so distracted by the flowers that I didn’t even notice the sky growing darker.

If I had just looked up, I would’ve known. My hands slipped as I tried to push the wheels of my wheelchair, the metal wet and slick beneath my fingers. My hair stuck to my face and body, soaked through as the rain poured down hard.

Everything was suddenly so dark and that’s when I knew that I I had completely lost track of time.

By the time I made it back to the small orange tree I had rested under earlier, I was drenched and shivering. I stopped there, breathing hard, my chest rising and falling as I looked around.
