"FOC MODO! INVIENET eam!” [
I ran as fast and quiet as I could when I heard their voices approaching the bush I am hiding in. Biting my paled lips to stifle my cries, I felt the immense pain of the wounds coming from the different parts of my body. I clutched the hem of my bloody dress to be able to walk faster, swallowing the urge to scream and whimper.
“You can’t die here, Luna. Run.” Even the voice in my head can only whisper.
No. I won’t die here.
The forest is unbelievably at its darkest tonight. Every wave of the harsh wind screams danger, with only the moonlight to guide me. I can feel my insides slowly dying but my fast pace is unwavering.
While running, my eyeballs reddened when I tried to use my clairvoyance. There are fifteen, no, twenty vampires, chasing after me. I clutched tightly to the amulet, my senses are at their weakest but I can still feel and hear their footsteps slowly fading. A bit relieved, I lowered my pace and catch my breath for a second. Just when I was about to feel calmer and safe…
Without even glancing, I felt a very fast-moving towards me. My eyes widened and my heart starts beating erratically in my chest again. How did these two find me? I can’t be wrong, that scent belongs to Arturo and Dominic.
“My, Luna! I can see you’re already tired!”
“Ludo est supra, mi princeps! [Game is over, my princess!] Let’s go home and rest for a while!”
Arturo, at my far left side, and Dominic at my right, running in the same direction. I ignored their ear-shattering laughter and continued running faster. I’ve always known these twins for being pesky but I don’t expect them to make tease me right at this very crucial moment. However, I can’t underestimate their capabilities despite this naughty facade.
They are fast, much faster even stronger than me. Everyone in the Valentin clan is. I know they are just playing around as they try to follow along with my weak pacing.
Like flashes of lightning through the dark skies, the three of us slashed through the wild winds of the night. I felt my eyes heating the moment I saw a tall tree ahead of us, I can climb it and then jump to the nearest cliff. But then Arturo seems to read my mind.
Before I even got the chance to lift my feet, he ran at a very high speed and jumped to the tall oak tree in front, cornering me.I glared at him with fire in my eyes, opposite to the mischievous smirk he had on his lips. “Aren’t you tired with all the running?” Despite the playful words his mouth is spitting, his crimson eyes full of dread say otherwise. I slowly move my feet backward, the terror slowly sinking in. Arturo is my cousin, I have known him since time immemorial… or so I thought? Was the Arturo and Dominic I’ve known was just an illusion too?
Just like the others?“You have nowhere to go to, Luna. Why are you still running?”
The baritone voice of Dominic sent shivers down my spine. I can feel his heavy presence just standing right behind me. I am cornered. I am helpless. He’s right. I have nowhere to go, I have no one left.
Why am I still running? Where do I really wanna go?
“Ah!” My eyes widened with shock as I felt the sudden pain of the cold metal slashing through my stomach. Still recovering from the shock of being stabbed from the back, I felt another one, and another one, after another one. Totally wrecked, my frail body touched the ground, facing the sky full of bloody hues.
“Why…” my lips quivered with tears as I felt my soul shattered with the physical pain, agony, and betrayal.
My sight is turning blurry but I still can clearly see the devious faces of Arturo and Dominic gazing upon me. “Why…” with my last breath, I still want them to tell me the truth.
“Hush now, Luna…” I slowly closed my eyes as Arturo finally released his sharp fangs, wanting to do the last blow.
But just as I felt his hoarse breath in my neck, something inside me has woke up. I can feel my blood flowing as if it’s being chased by something, my sight is now vivid. So vivid that I can even see everything from miles away. I groaned as I stretched my neck. I feel hot. I feel heavy and powerful. What is happening to me?
“Tu stultus es, Arturo!” [You’re a fool, Arturo!]
The panic in their eyes are evident when they saw me slowly me standing up with all my might. “Kill her, now!” Arturo tried to attack me again but the next thing that happened made the two of them unable to move.
Under the bloody moon of Aerith, the whole forest was disturbed by a loud, rough, and thunderous growl of a werewolf. But I’m sure that it came from me. From Luna Valentin of Valentin Sanguine, a prominent family of vampires. Vampire. But why did I just growl like a werewolf?
The sound I made echoed from all the corners, but this time, it did not come from me.
A huge animal-like creature with sharp nails and eyes of an ocean suddenly appeared in front of us. My eyes watered in recognition. “Nero…” I whispered with a faint sound of hope in my voice.
What took you so long… I have so much to tell him. I don’t even know where to start.
I was about to go towards him when a sharp pain attacked my temple, making me dizzy and weak. I didn’t know how Nero managed to scoop me and I ended up hugging his back. Using the tiny power I have left, I held onto him as he ran to the forest at his fullest speed. The twins tried to chase us, but they just disappeared with the wind in the middle for some reason.
My arms tightened around Nero’s body as we meet the harsh cold wind with our bare bodies. I don’t know if it’s his warm body… or the unbearable pain, both emotional and physical, or the faint hope of survival his presence gave me. I just found myself weeping and wetting his furs with hot, fresh tears.
“Nero…” My voice is as cold as the winter, as the wind whispering. “They killed father. He’s dead… He’s gone.”
He stayed silent. And running still. But It’s funny how I can still feel comfort through hugging his warm and furry body.
“I’ll kill them.”
He stopped.
But I didn’t.
“I will kill them all,” I promise, with the bloody moonlight above and Infinitum’s Alpha as my witness, to kill those who killed my father and killed my soul, and to make it known that the greatest sin they have committed their whole life is to let Luna Valentin live.

“DOMINA LUNA!” A giggle escaped my lips by hearing the panic in my maid’s voice. Ugh, She’s such a baby. I tiptoed through the gate and smirked victoriously when I finally got out in that hellhole. It’s my sixth day in theAerith Kingdom and my father won’t let me explore the place just once. That left me no choice but to escape. Well, I just got lucky because my guards are all busy for some reason. Cresta, my lady in waiting, is the only one assigned for me today. Now, I just have to go through the gates without the guards noticing, which can be done in just a blink. “Wooh!” I screamed in excitement as I was finally able to grace the outsides of Octavian Palace. Not wasting any time, I climbed the nearest tree and gazed at the beautiful view from there in amusement. Ismiled widely and welcomed the wind slashing through my face. Finally, freedom.
Tic toc. Tic toc. Tic toc. MY EYES followed the hands of the grand clock while potato-lying on the couch, then sighed heavily after. I did it simultaneously for a minute now, I think. “Ha!” I puffed after sulking my head to the pillow. I am so bored! Please, someone, get me out of this hellhole. After what happened last day, Father decided to tighten my security by caging me in my room, guards on the balcony, and guards on the door. If anything, they gave me a bell to call the maids whenever I need something. I’ve tried talking to them, but it seems like my father already warned them already how good am I with talking. “I wonder what the flowers on the balcony look like… Can you help me take a look?” “You are not allowed to leave the four corners of this room, milady. My humble apologies.” the lady who brought my food, “apologized” with a cold voice. “Psst… I forgot my barrette in the rest room, can you go take a look?” “We are not allowed to leave these doors, milady. We’ll m
“Luna?” I slowly opened my eyes the moment I heard Everleigh’s soothing voice. My hand automatically touched the temple of my head, it was throbbing heavily and my whole body feels numb. I tried to move a bit, which is a bad idea, it just worsened my suffering. Everleigh rushed into me as she heard me groan in pain. “My, don’t force yourself.” Her eyes and voice were full of worry as she approached my bed and sat beside me. I can’t help but chuckle a bit as I saw panic written all over her face. Adorable. “You made me feel better, Everleigh. Thank you,” my voice sounded so hoarse and strained. She sighed disappointedly and decided to just stroke my hair, “You really are a child,” I closed my eyes in comfort. We stayed like that for a long time, savoring the peace and comfort between us. Sometimes, I think of Everleigh as a snow flower; soft, beautiful, and soothing. She has that glow in her, her smile, and a voice of an angel that can calm the most savage monster there is. An epito
“You can run but I promise to find and put you back in your place every time.” You can run but you can’t escape. “Giovanni…” I whispered. “I can’t.” He scooped me slowly and held my chin up, his head looking down at me. “You don’t have to do anything. Just… stay still,” his lips are just inches away from mine and I tried not to look so hypnotized by his luscious red lips and seductive whisper. How can a man be so harsh yet so gentle? In the midst of the crowds, I stared at him and let ourselves fall in-depth into each other’s eyes. He moved closer and closer and gave me a swift peck on the lips. It was so light that my mind is debating if it really happened or if I am just hallucinating. “Make me your husband and I’ll give you everything you need.” “EVERLEIGH! THADDAEUS!” I can’t help but shout at them when I saw them laughing and enjoying street food they seem to have bought in the market. These two! “We were looking all over for you two—” “Hey! You should try this.” Giova
I woke up in an unfamiliar bed. “Where am I?” Everything is white, and there is a lot of some sort of herbs everywhere. The room is also covered with some weird smells of medications and chemicals. “Certus esne id quod vidisti?” [“Are you sure that’s what you saw?”] I glanced at the far corner of the room when I heard a voice, the voice of my father to be exact. He seems like talking to someone. Their voices are low, not wanting anyone to hear whatever they are talking about. I get off the bed slowly and carefully, making no sound, and moved closer to the curtain that is covering half of the room. “Etiam, mi domine. Credo etiam id quod vidit Everleigh.” [“Yes, my lord. I believe that’s what Everleigh saw too.”] My eyes widened at the hearing of Everleigh’s name. “Sinistra oculus conversus alba et dextra collyrium—” [Her left eye turned white and her right eye—] “Father.” I was not able to stop myself to interrupt and carelessly swept the white curtain to face them. They wer
“THEY ARE coming, Nero. Many of them.” As if on cue, a couple of fast movements from far away filled my ears. My crimson-red eyes widened in realization. I know very well where that came from and I can’t be wrong. “We need to get out of here. Quick.” The fear in my voice is evident, but the urge to hurry them is greater. But it seems like they are not as nervous as me. Their eyes looked at me with the same ice-cold glance they normally have. I saw Nero turn to Ava and nod at her, and the latter nodded back as if the both of them can read each other’s minds well. “What is happening?” And I was the only one not getting it. Ava glanced at me with his icy frost eyes. “You need to come with me.” My forehead creased in mixed emotions and confusion. “I do not know you.” “You need to trust us, Luna.” Nero’s voice behind me does not sound like he’s requesting me to. “This is for your own good.” I turned around and meet his determined eyes with my doubtful and worried ones. “I’m not goin
THE HALLS in the castle are busy with the people moving left and right. There are variant dishes and cocktails that are very pleasant to see, flower decorations and all. No doubt that everyone is preparing for a big party to happen. I looked at the grand mirror in front of me and stared at my reflection. In my hair are properly placed crystals that shine when light hits. The off-shoulder ball gown I am wearing also complements the sharpness of my collar bone. Well, the pale complexion is understandable. All in all, I look so ready. I look complete. But I don’t feel like I do. I sighed in frustration with all the things going around my head right now. I feel like I’m going crazy about the thought that I really left Nero all alone and now I have no idea what really happened to him after. To compensate for the guilt, I tried my best to gather some information from the guards yesterday, but it seems like the higher-ups heavily instructed them to keep it tight. What’s more intriguing is t
THERE IS no other more devilous than the smirk he had on his face. It instantly woke the anger I’d been keeping in for a long time. My mind was completely black, I can only see red and was ready to chase him with my fangs when Giovanni stopped me with a tight hold on my arm. “Don’t,” he whispered with a rasped voice like he was struggling with something. Pissed, I hissed at him. “Let go.” But then my reaction softened when I saw him clenching his jaw, looking pained. My eyes dropped to his hand holding his stomach tightly. “Giovanni, what’s wrong?” He only shook his head and tried to fix his composure. “Go. You need to get out of here.” But his eyes can’t lie. He’s good at pretending that there’s nothing wrong but he has to do better than that to fool me. I abruptly pulled the hem of his suit to reveal his stomach and gasped in shock after. “W-What happened to this?” There is a large deep slit all the way from his abdomen through the lower part of his nipple. The bandage he put
