Chapter Two Hundred And Fifty-Eight

The shot rang out, booming all around her.

"Arrgh!" Maya screamed as she dived headfirst to the ground, covering her head with her hands.

The keys flew out of her hand, buried in the coarse sand, a few feet away from her.

"No," She breathed as she realized what had just happened.

Glancing back fearfully, she could see Aryan and his goons in the distance advancing on her, matching furiously.

Aryan still held the smoking gun in his hand, stretched towards her. Maya knew she would be getting a bullet lodged in her brain if she dared to move even a muscle.

But if she stayed where she was, she was going to get shot either ways.

Maybe not now.

Maybe after she'd been forced to reveal her grandfather's place or where Noah was.

Either ways, she would be getting killed.

"Not if I can help it," she thought grimly as she watched the men approaching in the distance and willed her limbs to move.
