Chapter 5:
Lilian POV.As I opened my eyes again, I found myself chained to a bed in a small room. I tried to scream, but a cloth was stuffed in my mouth. I looked around, taking in my surroundings with horror. The walls were bare and white, and there was only a small window high up on the right side of the room. The only furniture was the bed I was chained to and a chair in the corner. Tears fell from my eyes as I realized I had no idea where I was or who had taken me.Suddenly, the door opened and Lucas entered the room. He saw I woke up and came over to me. I glared at him, my eyes full of anger."What the hell is going on?" I demand, my anger rising. "You quidnapped me?" I asked as soon as the cloth was removed from my mouth. "What kind of sick joke is this?""Please calm down, Lilian," Lucas said, his voice filled with concern."How can I calm down when I'm handcuffed and kidnapped?" I snapped "I had no other choice." He said. "I had to do it," Lucas explained, his voice pleading. "My father is very sick, and he needs your help. But you refused to come willingly, so I had no other choice.""So you decided to play the villain and abduct me?" I reply with bitterness." I had no other choice please understand me. " He said pleading."No other choice? You quidnapped me and took me away from my children and my fiancé!" I shouted."I'm sorry, Lilian," Lucas said, his eyes filled with regret. "I tried everything to get you to help my father willingly, but you wouldn't listen. I had no other choiceI didn't answer, my anger still rising and boiling inside me ."I'm sorry, Lilian," Lucas said, his eyes full of regre. "But I promise that I'll explain everything to you. Can you please try to calm down?""Okay, fine," I reluctantly agree. "But please remove these damn cuffs first."Lucas nodded , and takes a key out of his pocket. He carefully unlocked the handcuffs, and I gratefully massage my wrists."Now, please tell me what the hell is going on," I demand.Lucas starts to explain, and as he does, I begin to understand the gravity of the situation. My anger melts away as I start to see why he did what he did. Nevertheless, I can't help feeling betrayed, and I know that it will take a long time to forgive him."I know it wasn't the right way to go about it," Lucas admitted. "But I had to save my father.""And what about me? I have a family, children. How are they going to do without me?" I argued, my voice thick with emotion."I know, and I'm sorry for that," Lucas said, kneeling in front of me. "But I promise, I'll make it up to you. Once my father is better, I'll make sure you can go back to the human world."I sighed, feeling torn between anger and sympathy for Lucas. "Fine, but you better keep your promise. And take these damn chains off me.""I'm going to take these chains off," Lucas said, unlocking them. "But you better keep your promise.""I will," I replied,"Of course," Lucas said, getting up to unlock my chains. "Let's go see my father."As we entered the room, Elijah's witch in charge expressed her displeasure at my arrival before leaving. "What are you doing here?" she sneered at me.She has a feeling that she will be replaced, by me so , she explained her displeasure at me."I came to see alpha Elijah," I said, trying to keep my composure."You shouldn't have come back to the world of werewolves," she spat at me before leaving.I was shocked by her behavior and didn't know what to say. But as soon as I saw Elijah lying on his sickbed, tears streamed down my face. It had been six years since we last saw each other."Eli-dad," I said, using a cute and affectionate name for him that combined 'dad' and his first name, Elijah. I take his hand in mine."Is it really you?" he asked, his voice weak and raspy.I couldn't hold back my tears any longer. "Eli-Dad," I said, crying uncontrollably."I missed you so much," Elijah's voice cracked as he took my other hand in his, tears streaming down his face. "It's been six years.""I missed you too," I replied, my own tears welling up. "I'm so sorry I couldn't visit sooner.""It's not your fault," he said, squeezing my hand. "I'm just so glad you're here now.""I'm here for you," I said, leaning in to give him a hug. "I'll do whatever it takes to help you get better.""Thank you," he whispered, holding me close. "I love you.""I love you too." I said, my own tears starting to fall.As we pulled away from the embrace, Elijah wiped the tears from his face and took a few deep breaths trying to compose himself. "You know, you were always like a daughter to me," he said, his voice shaking.I couldn't help but cry at his words. He was like a father to me, when my parents were killed when I was 10, he took me under his wing and made me live with him in his Alpha's castle."You were like a father to me too," I said, reaching out to take his hand again."Promise me you'll never leave me again," Elijah said, his grip on my hand getting tighter."I promise," I said, knowing that I won't keep that promise, but I had to reassure him first.Suddenly, Elijah let out a sharp grunt and clutched his chest. "What's wrong?" I asked, panicked."It's nothing," he grunted. "Just an old wound acting up."I wasn't convinced, but I didn't want to push him."I don't need your help," Elijah grumbled, huddled under his blankets."But Eli-Dad, your wound looks infected. You need medical attention," I argued."It's just a scratch. I can handle it," Elijah replied.Lucas, chimed in, "Dad, you're not looking too good. Let her take a look."Reluctantly, Elijah allowed me to remove the blanket and examine the wound. I made him sit on his bed."Hmm, it's worse than I thought. You need treatment," I said."I don't need treatment, I'm fine," Elijah insisted."No, you're not. Look at it, it's inflamed and oozing pus," I explained."But I can handle it," Elijah insisted."Dad, you need to listen to her. She's right," Lucas urged.I nodded in agreement. "Let me help you. You have the supplies I need."As I gathered the supplies who was on his table, including a syringe with medication, Lucas anxiously asked, "What are you going to do?""I'm going to clean the wound and inject some medication," I explained."I'm worried about my father," Lucas admitted, his face etched with concern."Don't worry," I reassured him as I gathered the necessary supplies. "I've dealt with worse injuries before.""But he's in so much pain," Lucas persisted. "Are you sure you can handle this?""Stay back," I warned him as I began to clean Elijah's wound. "This won't be pretty."I cleaned the wound and injected the medication, but suddenly, Elijah convulsed and fell to the bed. Lucas rushed to his side, panicked. "What's happening?! Is he okay?!"I quickly assessed the situation. "He's having a reaction to the medication. I need you to stay calm and trust me," I said, trying to keep my own nerves from showing.Lucas urged me, "You have to save my father. Save him Lil!"Chapter 101LilianI don’t know how long I sat there, heart hammering, head spinning. My son—one of my babies—was here. And he thought I was dead.“Lilian.” Lucas’s voice came soft, cautious.I looked up slowly. “Don’t.”He flinched, stepping back as if my voice physically hit him.“You lied,” I said, standing, holding the bedframe to keep steady. “You knew something. You knew it was me all along. You brought me here on purpose. You planned this.”“I didn’t!” Lucas said, his voice rising for the first time. “Damn it, Lilian, I didn’t know about the kids. I swear on everything—”“But you knew I didn’t want to come back!” I shouted. “You knew I wouldn’t come back unless you forced me. So you waited until I was too weak to fight back. And then you dragged me here.”He opened his mouth. Closed it. Then sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yes. I was desperate.”I laughed bitterly. “There it is.”“I didn’t poison you,” he said again. “But when I saw how sick you were… I knew it was the o
Chapter 100LilianWhen I came to, the world was blurry.I blinked, and the ceiling came into focus, wooden beams. The smell hit me next. Herbs, something bitter… and wolves. My body felt heavy. My head pounded like someone had driven nails into my skull, and my mouth was dry as dust. Then I heard voices.“She’s awake,” someone murmured.I tried to sit up, but my limbs wouldn’t cooperate. It was like trying to move underwater.“What the hell…” I croaked, my throat raw.A woman stepped into view, older, with silver hair pulled into a tight braid. Her eyes were sharp and calculating.“You’re safe,” she said, her voice clipped but not unkind. “You’re back in the packhouse.”My stomach dropped.Back?No.I bolted upright, ignoring the nausea that slammed into me. “Where’s Lucas? What did you—”“Calm yourself.” The woman pressed a hand to my shoulder, surprisingly strong. “He didn’t harm you. He brought you here after you collapsed. You’ve been unconscious for almost two days.”Two… days?
Chapter 99 LilianI woke up to silence. Not the kind that’s peaceful. Not the kind that greets you after a long day. This silence was heavy. I blinked up at the ceiling, unsure for a moment where I even was. Then the sting in my chest reminded me. Damien. The argument. The slammed door.Right. He didn’t come back last night.I turned my head and looked at the empty side of the bed. Cold. No dent in the pillow. He hadn’t even thought about returning. And that said everything, didn’t it?I stared at the ceiling for a while, feeling completely hollow. I should’ve cried. Maybe screamed. But there was just this stillness inside me, like the grief had settled so deep it didn’t know how to crawl out anymore. After a while, I forced myself to get up. I didn’t want to mope in bed all day. My feet hit the floor and I immediately felt how stiff my legs were. Probably from standing and arguing for what felt like hours yesterday.I dragged myself to the bathroom, splashed cold water on my face,
98Lilian My heart sank at his words, but I forced myself to stay calm, though every part of me wanted to lash out. “Why?” I asked, my voice almost breaking. “Why would you do that, Lucas?”He gave me a look of exaggerated disbelief. “What? A guy like me can’t settle down?”“You and I both know this isn’t about settling down,” I said bitterly, trying to keep the anger from spilling over. “You’re playing a game, as always.”Lucas shrugged, completely unbothered by my accusation. “Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. What does it matter? Grace is head over heels for me, and I thought, why not? Might as well have a little fun.”“Fun?” I repeated, my voice rising despite my best efforts to keep it steady. “You’re talking about someone’s life, Lucas! Grace actually believes this is real!”“And whose fault is that?” he shot back, his smirk fading just slightly. “She chose to believe what she wanted. I never promised her a fairy tale.”“You proposed to her!” I spat, unable to contain my frustration a
97Lilian I stood there, frozen for a moment after Grace left, her excitement lingering in the air while I was trapped in a whirlpool of my own thoughts. Damien hadn’t said a word since she left, but I could feel the storm brewing inside him. His shoulders were tense, and he kept running a hand through his hair, something he only did when he was stressed beyond measure.I cleared my throat, trying to ease the tension in the room. "Damien, what’s going on?" I asked softly, stepping closer to him. "You’re clearly not fine."He stopped pacing, his eyes meeting mine, and I could see the frustration brewing behind them. "Lilian, we need to talk," he said, his voice low but sharp. My stomach clenched. I wasn’t sure I wanted to hear what was coming next."What’s wrong?" I pressed, hoping to keep the conversation calm.He took a deep breath, rubbing his temples like he was trying to gather the right words. "It’s about the money."I blinked, confused. "The money? What about it?""You’ve been
96Lilian A few days later, I sat on the sofa, half-watching a TV show that I wasn’t really invested in. My mind kept drifting back to Lisa’s situation and the overwhelming feeling of helplessness that had gripped me since my conversation with Rebecca. The tension in the house was palpable, but I was trying to distract myself, anything to escape the weight of reality for a little while.Suddenly, I heard a loud knock at the door, followed by the unmistakable sound of someone letting themselves in. Before I could even process what was happening, Grace came barreling into the living room like a whirlwind."Lilian!" she shouted, her voice brimming with excitement as she practically leapt at me. I barely had time to react before she was hugging me tightly, her energy infectious. “Grace, what—?” I started, trying to get a word in as she pulled back and thrust her hand in front of my face. I blinked, trying to focus on what she was showing me.Her eyes were practically glowing with joy as
