The man finally noticed that she wasn’t interested in her and saw another girl to his liking that he left Lina alone.
“Sorry,” Eon whispered next to her ear, which sent shivers to Lina’s skin. Eon was holding the edge of her chair so that she couldn’t get away from him.
Lina gasped for some air because Eon’s breath fanned her cheek and tickled her skin. Goosebumps littered her arms that she was rooted to the barstool and her brain forgot to think.
“I crossed the line. I’m sorry,” Eon said once again, for Lina didn’t reply to his apology.
“It’s all good.” She heaved a deep sigh, “it’s your opinion, anyway.” She got down from her barstool and faced Eon. She was ready for a fight but she was surprised to see that his face was full of regrets. Her eyes narrowed thinking if Eon was playing with her but she didn’t see any indication that he was.
“You don’t deserve the words I said.” He gently added because he could see the disbelief from Lina’s eyes
Lina tried to pull her hands away but she had no strength for whatever it was that the damn woman jabbed her arm. She was panting and groaning as she panicked, fighting the drowsiness she was feeling. ‘I can’t fall asleep!’ She screamed in her head. The thought of the nightmare if she falls asleep keeps her fighting the sleepiness she was feeling. She didn’t see the old woman who stuck a needle in her arm. The two men who took her to the van didn’t talk to her. They just tied her hands together in her lap then shoved her inside the van like she was a piece of garbage. Then the two of them talked quietly in a language that she doesn’t know. She strained her ears to listen to catch any words that would give her a hint of what was happening but they already went inside the van, the one who gave orders took the wheel. Frustrated, she kicked the back of the driver’s seat but she didn’t get any reaction from the two men. She kicked the seat once again, twisting her hands,
Lina in her horror lost consciousness. That she was already screaming and asking for help even when she knew no one would help her for it was all nothing but a dream. She already knew what's going to happen even before she found herself in the now familiar swamp. She knew that the moment she fell asleep, she would find herself in her hellish nightmare all over again. The moment she succumbed to sleep, she dreamed. In her dreams, she was submerged in the cold, murky water up to her waist. She was pushing thin branches away from the gnarly trees surrounding her, away from her face as she navigated in the gloomy swamp. She has been in this place so many times and it's always gloomy as if the sun is avoiding this place. She hurried as she trembled from the cold water and the fear of the dogs that she knew would appear anytime soon. However, she already reached the banks and the dogs haven't shown their presence. She was climbing the muddy banks, using the protruding root
Lina giggled in her dreams when the dog she called Galan nuzzled her hand then licked her face. "Stop…stop!" She said, laughing. The dog listened but he then dropped himself on the ground and rolled over, exposing his belly, asking for a belly rub. Lina lowered down on the ground and scratched Galan's belly. She had forgotten her fear of the dogs that could come any minute. Galan made her forget that she's in her nightmare and a pack of dogs could chase her and attack her at any time. Eon, on the other hand, furrowed his brows because Lina would giggle every time he would wipe her face to remove her makeup. 'What could you be dreaming about?' he wondered as he continued the tedious task of cleaning her up. The task itself wasn't so bad but the fact that his body reacted voluntarily every time he touched Lina. "You're such a pervert!" He talked rather loudly to himself. He wasn't so proud of himself for taking advantage of Lina's situation. He couldn't help hi
'Why are you jealous?' Lina bit down the question that she was dying to ask Eon. She doesn't want to be in a relationship where she is the only one that would love. She's tired of being a choice that never got chosen. Eon watched Lina's expression. When it seemed that she's not going to ask any questions, he rolled to his side, facing her. "Go back to sleep. You need to rest." He reached for her, grazing his knuckles on her cheeks. "I don't want to sleep." Eon knitted his brows. He has been watching Lina since she came to Luna. She looked so agitated and jumpy. It came to his mind that she must have taken something but when he wiped away the makeup from her face, he saw the dark circles under her eyes—a clear indication of lack of sleep. He wondered if his words were the ones that kept her awake. "What do you mean?" He asked because he doesn't want to take her statement in the wrong way. He could interpret her sentence into different meanings, one wou
Eon hurriedly finished his shower. He wanted to find Lina. He usually takes half an hour in the shower, taking his time but today he finished his shower in just five minutes. He roughly wiped his hair with the fluffy towel, put on a pair of jeans that had been washed too many times, and a gray v-neck t-shirt. He threw the towel he used to dry his hair on the way out of his bedroom. The soiled towel landed on the floor, next to the couch. He walked with long, hurried steps to the other half of his penthouse. He confirmed what his wolf said that Lina was still in the building when he smelled the scent of fried egg in the air. 'Did Lina cook breakfast?' [No.] His wolf answered coldly. [What's wrong with you?] He asked with furrowed eyebrows. His wolf has been acting up since he went quiet on him. He still had his brows knitted tightly when he entered the kitchen where Lina was eating on the kitchen island. He scanned the kitchen and found no one.
"You know that you are so annoying, right?" Lina glared at Eon behind the steering wheel. When she finished drying her dress, she bid him goodbye but he insisted on driving her back to her hotel in her annoyance. But Eon wasn’t fazed with her sour mood. He just chuckled lightly at her as if he was amused whenever she glared at him. She doesn’t want to be how she could get rid of him without sounding like an ingrate, she threw her gaze outside the window. “I think it would be best if you don’t come to Luna–” “I have no plan to come back there. Don’t worry!” She snapped at him, stopping his sentence midway. Eon clicked his tongue. “I’m telling you not to come back to Luna for no other reason than, those who kidnapped you, got you there. Until we don’t know who they are and what they want from you…”He stopped the car at the red light. “Let’s play safe and avoid places that were already your routine.” Lina sighed. In her brain, Eon’s explanation m
Eon stood close to Lina when she swiped her card key in her door. He pushed the door wider when he heard the door click. Lina grunted but didn’t say anything. If she says something, a discussion would just ensue. She doesn't want to debate with Eon anymore. She just wanted him to go away, so she could finish packing her stuff and move to her new place. And she can't do that if Eon is hovering over her shoulders. Eon knew that Lina was unhappy with him but he also knew that if he let her do whatever she wanted, she would just run away from him. And he can't afford that to happen. Thus, despite knowing that she doesn't want him to be inside her penthouse, he shamelessly strode inside, ahead of her as if he owns the place. There was nothing out of the ordinary in the place. It has all the luxuries and comforts that you would expect from a penthouse. But what stopped Eon wasn't the luxurious design of the room, nor the pile of clothes that were scattered all over
'We are coming.' Lina shuddered. The three ominous words that were written in red paint in the bathroom mirror kept on replaying in her head. They were like three pairs of eyes, staring at her, looking straight to her soul, telling her to run for they are coming. Her nightmares where a pack of dogs was running after her flashed in her head and she whimpered. She pulled Eon's leather jacket's collar tighter around her neck. His scent that was clinging on the leather gave her comfort. Eon gave her his jacket when she wouldn't stop shaking the moment she saw the words of the people who were after her. Now, he is the one talking to the hotel management about what happened because she couldn't form a coherent sentence. Her words overlapped with each other, her voice shaking as well as her whole body, teeth chattering. He was discussing the missing security footage with the chief of security of the hotel when he heard Lina whimpering and his heart was clenched in h
