Chapter 3 - Them

*Aidan Zavia's POV*

---

I just can't control my face to form a wide smile as I got the taste of the coffee that she gave me. It might be from a coffee vending machine but it tastes so great because she gave it to me. And, this knife? It's so damn cool. Now, I already have proof that she is indeed an angel. She cares for my safety. Wow!

As I am about to enter our property, the gateman greeted me and I told him to have a great night. Then, I tried to look for signs if someone is right there in the living room that could be waiting for my arrival.

And, I'm right. Nadia is sitting on the couch while looking at her phone and the lights are off. Mm, by the look on her face, she might be sexting with her boyfriend.

So, I went to the right side of our house where my room's balcony is about ten feet from where I am standing. Yep, I have a secret entrance and exit from my room. I just love to climb up on my ladder that I hid behind the Boston Ivy leaves on the wall than going in through the door and have a conversation with anyone.

And, thanks to Ming and her coffee, I felt sober now.

I let out a heavy breath as I stepped on my balcony and I tried to search for my car, bike, doors, and window keys in my pockets, but I just remembered that I didn't bring any vehicle with me to the party. Fuck! Now, I have to fudging go back down and get in through the fucking door. Ugh! I'm such an idiot.

---

"What took you so long, AZ?" Nadia asked me as I stepped inside the house and I just sighed deeply. Then, the light turned on.

This is what I'm talking about having an effin conversation with anyone. They would be asking you lots of questions. But thankfully, our parents aren't here.

"Try to walk on more or less three kilometers using your feet and let us see if how many minutes will it take you to arrive at your destination," I answered and she put down her phone to stare at me with a raised eyebrow.

She didn't talk, and I yawned as I slowly walked to the stairs. I'm too sleepy to hear or answer whys, hows, whats, and whatnots tonight. I need to sleep but I am sure that my mind would make me wake by thinking of a particular redheaded person, and I am just so excited to return this knife of hers tomorrow because that means that I could talk to her and I could be near her. Damn, I wish we could be more close. But not being friends, of course.

But I wonder what time should I return this? Weapons are not allowed inside the academy. Well, maybe after class and I'll just keep it in my car by then.

As I opened the door of my room, I am greeted by another person that I don't wanna talk to.

"Hi, Honey! How are you feeling?" The blonde-haired woman greeted me as she stood up from my bed.

"I'm feeling great, Mom," I answered and took off my zip hoodie jacket, then placed it in the laundry hamper.

She let out a sigh and walked near me.

"AZ, your dad and I will be going to New York for a business meeting and we're gonna meet an investor there. We're probably gonna be staying there for a week and we're leaving tomorrow. Now, I want you to do good in school. And, your exams are next week. You need to study. We don't wanna receive calls from your teachers and saying that you've been naughty. We know that you can do well." She stated and I nodded my head lightly.

"Okay. Good luck on your trip, and I'll try my best to perform great at school. And so that you'll be proud of me, too." I replied with a little hint of sarcasm and she smiled, then touched my left cheek gently.

"I'm always proud of you, Aidan. Put that in mind. And I love you, too. Same as your sister." She uttered and I looked down to the floor.

I don't know but she just has this soft spot in my heart when she talks like that. But my father? All that matters to him is our performance in school and our community, in which I sucked big time for being a lesbian in the first place, and the rest is me being dumb at school and a trouble maker. I just know that I'll never get his favor and I know that I have no role to play with his business. I'll just leave those to my ever so smart and brilliant sister. Because she's capable of doing everything and she's the daddy's girl.

"Alright," I muttered and she pinched my cheeks before turning to leave my room.

"Have a good night, Honey." She stated and closed the door.

Then, I let out a deep breath and slumped on my bed.

And, I remembered the empty paper cup of coffee that Ming gave me. It's in my hoodie's left pocket.

---

"Yow, AZ! Where are you going?" Freya asked me as she put an arm around my shoulders while we walk in the corridor. She's one of my best friends and she's bi, by the way.

"To my dream girl, Frey," I answered and she laughed hysterically.

"Oh, really? What're you gonna do with that mysteriously straight girl? Mess up with her or simp?" She asked and I stopped in my tracks to give her a bored look on my face.

They just love to tease me about crushing a straight girl. But no, I think she's not straight. Well, I'm hoping so damn hard though. I just cannot go near her and ask her out or even talk to her formally. I know, I'm the most coward person in the world. But hey, she's so amazing last night. I'll forever treasure that paper cup.

"No, I'll just return something to her that she let me borrow last night," I stated and she blinked multiple times as she stared at me with a face of disbelief. Boo!

"Wha... what did she lend you? And, she was with you last night? Impossible." She asked, and then, started laughing again. Mmm, a very nice friend.

Then, here showed up Phyllis with a wide smile plastered on her pretty face.

"Hey, hey, hey! What's the fun stuff here?" The raven-haired girl asked as she stopped in front of us and tied her shoelace again.

"Phyl, would you believe that AZ was with Mattel Lewis last night and let her borrow something?" Freya asked and the newcomer stood straight to look at me in the eyes.

"Really? Why? Did she finally ambush you last night? But, it's good to know that you're still alive and in one piece, Aiz." She replied and I just rolled my eyes and continued walking to the parking space.

They really don't believe me. Well, who would be if what they all knew is that Ming hates me? And, she did mention that she cannot promise that she'd be nice to me because of my stupidity. But yeah, I should not make any mess in the diner from now on.

"Oh, come on, AZ! We're just kidding. What did she lend you last night?" Freya called and they jogged to catch up with me.

"Her heart, in which I will finally be owning it one of these days." I joked and they laughed again as they followed me to my blue Lambo Aventador. Yeah, I will really do everything for that girl if we would finally be together. Damn, what a lovely thought.

"That's a good one. But yeah, where are we heading out for the weekend, now that your parents are going out of state, AZ? Do you, Girls, know who's throwing a party? Or should we throw one? I think we should throw one." Freya asked as our laughter died down. Well, hell yeah, I have a whole freaking week of freedom. This is gonna be so damn great.

Then, I told them what had happened last night and they are still a bit not convinced that it actually happened.

"Well, as a straight girl, Aiz, what I can advise you is take it slow. You shouldn't scare her away with sudden moves, even if those are smooth. You need to first observe and find signs that she could be into you, too. Or any signs that she could be gay, too." Phyllis suggested in a serious tone of voice, and I nodded my head lightly in understanding while Freya is trying to hold her laughter that made the straight girl slapped her left shoulder hardly.

"I'm serious with what I said! Yeah, that's it, Aiz, if ever you'll get the chance to talk to her later, be sure to keep her comfortable with the topics, and don't stutter for the nerd's sake. Talk a little bit straighter even if you're the gayest girl here in the academy so that you won't scare her away." The girl exclaimed and continued in which I find her words helpful.

And, that's if we could really have the chance to talk later since she doesn't work in the diner if it's Thursday. But l will try so damn hard. And I wish I won't swallow my tongue if she'll be in front of me already. Yeah, call me a damn pussy, but she's just so different to every other girl in here, especially to the girls I got my eyes on with before.

"Okay, noted. Wish me luck because I need it a lot." I uttered and they patted my back while wishing me huge good luck.

---

This is it. Onyx. I just hope that she hasn't got in yet. I'll just wait for her here in front of the building.

Damn, what should I say to her first? Maybe greet her? Then, should I ask if could we go grab a snack or coffee? Or dinner? No, dinner is way too sudden as Phyl has mentioned. Maybe just a snack.

But I'm just so nervous and my palms are starting to turn cold now.

A smile formed on my face as I finally got the sight of the red-haired angel, but then, it suddenly turned into a frown when I saw her with somebody. It's a guy from the lacrosse team and they have been talking and laughing.
