I decided to take Charles' offer up and started the bath. I filled it with nice hot water and turned the jets on. Kaitlyn had packed my toiletries with my things so I thankfully didn't have to worry about that. Although it would have been nice to use Charles' things and smell like him. I sat in the tub a while just thinking and reflecting. I finally got out when my fingers were pruney and the water started to get cold.
I stared at myself in the mirror for a while barely recognizing myself. I grabbed my laptop and sat on the couch, ready to work.
I checked my emails then and began working on my own classes. The professors had sent me weeks worth of class assignments and lectures. I got through today's classes and started on tomorrow's before Charles returned. As he entered the house my stomach growled. He let out a loud la
I shot awake, almost headbudding Charles as I sat up quickly. I was breathing fast, still feeling the remnants of my panic attack. I thought of Heli, and I could still feel her touch on my chest. My heart felt warm, and filled with love. Heli had healed me in a way. "Breath" Charles looked so concerned. "You fainted for a few minutes. I called a couple people. They'll be here soon to check you out. Nate is on his way too. I need you to breathe. Focus on breathing in and out. That's the only thing you need to think about right now." His voice was soothing. I did as he said. Although Heli had already helped me calm down. I am not sure what that was earlier. I was grateful for whatever it was though. Heli made me feel whole again. She had eased my fear and my stress. Fear was no longer my more prominent feeling. I was an
Rays of sun peaked in through the shades waking me up early. It was about 6 o’clock in the morning, which felt too early to be awake after last night. I tried to fall back asleep, but it was pointless. Heli was restless, I hadn’t let her out since our first night on campus and with everything going on she could really use a run. I snuck out not wanting to wake Charles up. I left a little note, telling him I would be running through the fairy trail for about an hour. I told him not to worry, fully knowing that he will worry anyway. I was sure I’d get an earful from him when I returned. I won’t mind it though, in fact I kind of like it when Charles scolds me. I smiled thinking about it.I quietly ran toward the fairy trail. The sun was still rising but it was mostly bright outside. The animals in the woods were starting to wake, as the chirping of birds filled the air. It felt nice to be outside without many people. I went deep into the woods and let Heli out the moment I could. She bar
I decided not to stay locked away in the apartment anymore. Since Luke was going to be running free, so will I. I told Charles I would be going back to classes and he lost it on me again. Telling me it was a bad idea. “I can’t just never go to classes again. We are majoring in the same thing. We will probably have classes together for the next few years. I don’t like it either but I refuse to stay locked away. He doesn’t scare me anymore, but I’ll stay away. I have sent emails to my professors about the situation and they assure me that they will keep us separated.” I defended myself. “I still don’t like it.” He muttered, but ultimately caved in, realizing I was right. “I’ll make sure to be in the building in case anything happens.” He assured me. “I need more lab time anyway.” With that I headed to my class. I grabbed my things and Charles walked me to my class. I entered the room cautiously, thankfully it seemed Luke wasn’t here. Everyone’s eyes were still on me though, as I am su
I was excited to see what Star had found. My father never did tell me much about his family. I would ask questions but he would avoid them or change the topic completely. My mother would always just tell me it was complicated. I had always been curious about the Lancaster name. Star arrived about an hour after we got home. I was dying waiting for her to get here. My excitement and anticipation we're eating away at me. Charles was starting to get annoyed at my pacing. "Sorry to keep you waiting. I had to dig up some pretty old books" Star came in plopping down 3 large books and a couple of scrolls. "I figured I would need to show you because if I just told you, well, you'd never believe me." Her words only filled me with more wonder. I stared at her impatiently waiting. She opened the darker scroll. "This scroll is the lineage of the first ever werewolf Luscious. Luscious had three children, he gave each one a different surname so that he could see which of his children would prosper
The first thing I did when I awoke was check my email. Charles was right and classes had been canceled for today as well. I was curious and excited to see what all Charles and I could get up to when we had a whole day to ourselves. Charles had made us breakfast and we sat around talking about my crazy lineage. "I wonder if I can do magic?" "Probably, it's somewhere in you. Maybe you should take a witch class?" Charles suggested and I nodded my head in agreement. I thought that was a pretty good idea. I figure Star could probably teach me elf stuff and magic. Whenever she had free time again. I looked at Charles who was watching me carefully with intense eyes. My cheeks flushed under his gaze. I wondered what he was thinking. "What's on the agenda today?" I asked, curious if he had any plans. "I need to use this time to get caught back up on my lab study. They are letting us use the lab in the chemistry wing on campus for now." My heart sank as the idea of a day together vanished.
I woke up the next morning ready to go back to in person classes. When I got to class no one gave me side looks or whispered my name to one another. I sat toward the front again just in case Luke showed up. This time he did come. He stopped at the doorway staring at me for a long while before coming in and taking a seat in the back. I could feel his eyes on me throughout class, but I tried hard to pay him no mind. I kept focused on the professor and our lecture. I bolted out of there the moment the professor said we could leave. I refused to let Luke try to talk to me or corner me somewhere. Charles wasn't happy when I told him Luke was in class today. "Can't you finish that class online? I am sure Dr Garvey wouldn't mind." Charles didn't want me to be in class with Luke anymore. "I am not sure, but I don't want Luke to think that he can run me out. Plus we'll more than likely have classes together in the future. I have to deal with this now." Charles didn't like my answer, but cou
The man looked so much like my father that I almost ran into his arms. He had short spiky brown hair like him and light blue eyes. His cheeks had freckles sprawled throughout just as my father and I do. Unlike my father he had a longer, sharper nose and a strong jaw line. A few wrinkles lined his face. He looked at me a bit confused trying to place my face. "I'm sorry. I must have the wrong apartment." He said stepping back and looking at the door number again. He wrinkled his eyebrows before he began to walk away. I shook the shock off my face. "Wait" I called after him. "Who are you looking for?" He turned taking a few steps back. "Star. Star Sweetflower" my chest tighten as i realized that Charles and Star had been living together. "She's not here now, but she's on her way. You're welcome to wait for her here. " I realized I was being stupid inviting a stranger in, but I couldn't help it. He looked like an older version of my father and I didn't want him to leave. I wanted to st
My mind was still presently thinking of Evandrus. Of the odd feeling he left behind. Although he seems friendly, I didn't feel like I could trust him. Something about him had Heli and I on edge. "Well that was unexpected," Star said, turning her attention to me. "I am sorry I didn't know he was coming." "It's fine." I waved it away. "What was it you wanted to talk with me about?" "Oh yes. It's about your elf magic mixed with your werewolf's." She started pulling paper out in front of her.again. I pictured her staying up late at the library looking through scrolls and books. "There aren't many books on the matter as Elves and wolves don't usually mate. It is rare to be mated to another supernatural species." "That makes sense." I took a seat at the table beside her. "Well according to this book when a wolf and elf mate their children are able to take the magic from both parents or from none. As in, you could end up being a normal human even though you have two supernatural parents.
