16: Near Miss
Nick felt determined as the wind whistled into his ears.
He was at maximum speed, recovering the pearl from his pant's pocket, he held it high, shouting with a thunderous voice— "My Family!"
The pearl turned into a golden-blue spear, which sparked with energy of white magic.
He stabbed some demons with the spear, giving them some kicks he learned in karaté class.
The spear was so powerful that immediately it touched a demon, the demon sizzled in smoke and dust.
A demon ran, carrying a sword, he looked like the second in command, because he was the largest among the group.
"Do you think you fight demons with human tactics? Kicks, blows... Nonsense! I'm going to show you how it is done using your idiotic friend, Edrek," The demon spoke laughing.
"The way we fight here kills not only flesh, but your spirit— either good or evil... " He added

With the humanoid gone, Nick and his troop moved on, heading to the direction of the beam. Their troop got in contact with the others and they all agreed to meet there. They got closer and closer until they reached a place which looked like a cascade of hot boiling lava. But, it wasn't lava, it was blood! What the...? "Help!" Nick heard his mom. He looked down and saw his mom and sister on a floating piece of rock. "Mom!" Nick shouted as he tried flying down but the heat sent him floating up where he met Tereq and his troop. The heat was intense and took controlled over their wings. "No!" Nick cried. "What's happening, Tereq?" Erik asked, looking up at them. "I don't know. The heat is intense. We all tried flying down to get them but ended up getting stuck in the air."

"Now that everyone is safe, we need to go shatter Mario's plan, while the others look for Mr. Phillips." Erik announced when he had brought all angels down."Master, I can assign the others to look for him, while the rest of the army follows you," Mick, who was a warrior, spoke."Yes, do that while we go. After several hours, they reached the central airport of New York City. The plane landed on the runway and created channels for the passengers to alight.
