“What do you mean by that? What mistake did I make by coming here? How do you even know my name?” I asked, curious, confused and disturbed.

“How did you get in here? Show your face, you coward.” I said, trying to act stronger that I look.

I stared at the man squatting in front of me, trying to figure him out but I couldn’t. His voice sounded familiar but I couldn’t place where I heard it from.

“You’re in no position to ask me questions, rogue. You came here at the wrong time and if you think you can ruin my years of hard work, you’re wrong. I’ll kill you before then.”

This park is no place for you to be and if you think you can have the alpha as your mate, you are very wrong. Rogues are to be killed and soon, you will be!” He said, his hands tightening around the cage bars with rage.

“Can you just explain yourself better? I have no idea what you’re talking about and how did you know we’re mates? Who exactly are you and—?”

I didn’t complete my statement before he was away in a flash. I groaned as I didn’t get answers to my questions.

“Did he know me from somewhere? What plans of his am I trying to ruin? Who is he? Why is everyone I’ve met obsessed with wanting me dead?” I thought to myself.

I was confused but tried to take my mind off it. My head was spinning so I laid down on the floor and before I knew it, I dozed off.

I woke up to the sound of the cage being unlocked and I jolted up from my sleep, going into fight mode but I calmed down as soon as I saw who it was.

It was a young girl, dressed in what looked like a servant cloth and she was holding a plate of food. My stomach growled in hunger as the smell wafted to my nose. I was starving.

She avoided eye contact and dropped the food, before hurrying out and locking the gate like I would pounce on her or do something.

“Thank you.”I muttered before I started to eat the food hungrily. It was so good and I couldn’t help but sigh in relief and happiness.

The next few days passed in a blur. The same thing happened everyday. The maid would bring me food in the morning, afternoon and night and I was getting tired of it.

I was tired of being locked up. Logan didn’t show up and I couldn’t help but think that he had forgotten me here. Even the strange man was nowhere to be found.

“He’s probably having the time of his life with Valerie.” I muttered to myself as I chewed on my nails angrily. I need to leave here immediately.

I started to think of a plan. The maid is the best option for me to get out of here. I have to fight her so I can get the key from her and run away.

I smiled to myself as I planned my escape in my head.

It was night and I waited patiently for the mad to come into the cage. She has gotten quite used to me and she doesn’t run away again as soon as she gives me food.

I waited for her to put my plate on the floor before I scrambled up, grabbing her by her throat, catching her off guard.

She screamed out and I quickly put my hand over her mouth.

“I’m not going to hurt you.” I whispered. “I just need to get out of here. I want you to help me get me out of here.”

The girl looked at me and shook her head, her eyes wide with fear. “I can’t do that, please I can’t.” She replied.

“You have to, or I will kill you. I threatened her. “You wouldn’t want that, right? I can easily twist your neck and run away. So you have to show me the way out of here.”

“Alpha Logan will have our heads if he should find out about this, we will end up dead. You can’t escape and I can’t help you.” The girl said, scared and shaking.

“I promise you, we won’t get caught. Time is going and before they start to suspect anything, you need to get me out of here!”

The girl looked at me with doubt before nodding her head slowly, agreeing. I breathed out in relief as she led me out of the cage.

I looked around, panicking, my hand sweating. I was very nervous and scared. I was doing a very dangerous thing and if I get caught by Logan he wouldn’t hesitate to kill me on the spot.

I followed the maid as she led me out through a smaller door and we walked through a tunnel.

“This is a path that we servants follow to go out for a run or just to escape our reality.” She whispered to me as we walked. “No one but the servants knows about it.”

“I can’t go further from here, I have to leave now before they start to suspect me for being away for so long. If you keep following this path, you’ll see a clearing that will lead you back to the woods. I wish you luck.” The maid said before leaving hurriedly.

I was alone and I was more scared. I looked around for a while before I started to run without looking back and before I knew it, I could see the clearing.

I smiled and tried to fight back my tears as soon as I saw trees as the sun, shining. I ran faster and harder. I was very close to being free.

I breathed in deeply as I stepped into the clearing, laughing out loudly but my happiness was cut short when a hand roughly grabbed me by my hair, pulling me down and sending us both tumbling on the dirt.

I had been caught!

But then it ran past again, faster this time and I caught a glimpse. It didn’t look human. It almost did… but its body was twisted, disfigured. Like a human that had been stretched or broken and barely put back together.Panic hit me hard. Was it going to attack me? Eat me? Drag me somewhere darker? My legs trembled as I backed up slowly, eyes wide and darting in every direction. This was the moment I needed my powers more than ever. Where the hell were they when I needed them? It’s not like I believe that I did have powers, I just wanted them at the moment. And the Lycan King? Oh, he was definitely going to hear from me if I ever made it out of here. What kind of sick joke was this? Why would he send me to work in a dangerous, creepy and cursed place like this?“Screw your stupid duties,” I muttered under my breath, voice shaking. “As long as I make it out of here alive, nothing you say or do will ever bring me back to this place.”Lily! Where are you?!”A voice echoed through the

I didn’t know how long I’d been standing there, trying to convince the ball of light to move again.I had pleaded with it, cursed at it and threatened it like a lunatic. At some point, I must have looked completely insane, talking to a glowing light like it could actually hear me, let alone care.It started with frustration. Then it morphed into rage. And now? Now, I was just tired. My legs ached, my stomach growled, and all I wanted was to get out of this cursed place.Maybe I should not have followed it. Maybe if I had hesitated earlier, I wouldn’t be stuck in this creepy, forgotten corner of the library.“Or maybe…” I muttered, narrowing my eyes, “it was trying to tell me there was something around here.”I turned and began searching the area, running my hands along old, dusty shelves and crumbling stacks of ancient books. Maybe there was a hidden switch or some kind of secret passage the Lycan King didn’t want anyone finding. But there was nothing.I stomped the floor, hoping f

A small ball of light floated right in front of me. I blinked, rubbing my eyes. Where did that come from?Slowly, I reached out to touch it but it moved. I tried again, and it floated away, just a few steps ahead.Frowning, I stood up and followed it but every time I got close, it moved again, always staying just out of reach. But it never disappeared. It would stop and wait, like it wanted me to keep following.I knew it probably wasn’t the best idea to leave my spot and Simeon’s warning echoed in my head. ‘It’s easy to get lost here.’But something about that light made me curious. What if it was leading me to something or somewhere secretive? What if the Lycan King had hidden something deep inside this place and this light was showing me the way? To find out? What if this was my chance to find answers?I reached out to my wolf, hoping she’d give me some kind of guidance or just tell me what to do. But as usual, I got nothing.Ever since that shift back at Logan’s pack, she hadn’t

Simeon looked up at me, clearly waiting for an answer. I hesitated, my mind racing as I weighed my options.Arranging books in the library wasn’t something I could handle alone. It felt more like a punishment than a task, especially for something I didn’t even do but there was a catch. If I agreed to do it, I’d be allowed to ask the Lycan King any question I wanted and I wanted that badly. I didn’t even know what I would ask him yet, but I would figure it out later. The chance alone was worth it.“Fine,” I said at last, turning to Simeon. “I’ll arrange the books.”“Very well, then,” he replied with a small nod. “The boxes are right here. All you need to do is arrange the books by their themes and titles and it might be a bit difficult since you’re still unfamiliar with how things work in this realm so to make it easier, there’s a color code for easy identification.”He walked over and pointed at the side of a book. “See this? Every book has a tag on the spine with a specific color.

“Did you stay here all night? You didn’t sleep?” I asked, narrowing my eyes slightly. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Lycan King told him to keep watch over me, just to make sure I didn’t try anything… like escaping.“I’m sorry if I scared you,” Simeon said, bowing slightly. “And no, I didn’t stay here all night. I came by about forty minutes ago once I knew you were awake. I waited so I could show you around and also explain your duties.”“Duties?” I raised an eyebrow. “What duties? Isn’t it enough that I’m a prisoner? Now I’m supposed to be his slave too?”“I already told you, there are no slaves or servants here,” he said calmly. “We all have roles to play. Everyone has a task they’re responsible for each day. We manage many worlds from this place, and it takes many hands to keep the universe safe. Now come along, Lily, we’re running late. We don’t want to miss breakfast.”We walked for about ten minutes, turning corner after corner through long, empty hallways. Not a single soul i

I laid still in bed, staring at the ceiling as the sound of crickets and hooting owls drifted in from outside the window. It was late, really late in the night and I’d already eaten and taken a bath, thank goodness.Apparently, the door Simeon told me to open earlier was actually the bathroom. But the Lycan King had done some weird magic stuff and messed with it. What a jerk! Honestly? I was confused. Completely. What the hell was really happening?Everything started to hit me all at once. I hadn’t thought too deeply about it before, but now it all seemed crazy. My wolf’s fur had changed color. She suddenly could make people bleed for their ears and become unconscious when she howled and then I suddenly called out for the Lycan king to come save me? He said we shared the same fur color, but I didn’t see it myself, so how would I know if he was telling the truth? It’s not like I can demand him to shift in front of me the way he made me shift. And if I really had powers, why didn’t th

Instead of fear, I felt something else. My eyes went to his face, his body. He looked too good, too powerful and I felt my cheeks heat up.What the hell was wrong with me? This man could kill me, infact, it looks like he wants to kill me and I was checking him out? I must be crazy. “Why don’t you fear me?” he asked, voice low and dangerous. “Is that another power of yours? No one talks back to the Lycan King!”I rolled my eyes. “It’s not like I’m not scared of you. I just… I don’t know. I’ve spent most of my life afraid of everything. Hiding and begging. As a rogue, that’s the lifestyle. Maybe I’m broken or maybe I’ve lost my mind. Who knows?”“I heard the mate bond can mess with someone when they’re away from their mate. Maybe that’s what’s happening to me.”I laughed bitterly, sounding a little crazy.“I am to be feared!” he growled. “You have to fear me!”Then, without touching me, he raised me into the air and slammed me against the headboard. Pain shot through my back, and I let

This place was messed up. How the hell did a bathroom suddenly turn into a room?I stood in shock, staring at the door I had just opened. I was sure Simeon told me the bathroom was right through here. He said all I needed to do was open the connecting door and yet… this was the only door in the room.I was confused, then got irritated.I had looked forward to that bath. I desperately needed it, glad I could finally get all the dirt off my body but now this jerk standing in front of me had ruined everything.“I don’t know what you’re doing here or what you’re looking for, but you just interrupted me and I need to take my bath. It is very important to me. So whatever you’ve done to this room, you better fix it. Because I heard this was supposed to be a bathroom.”He didn’t budge. Just stared at me with that unreadable look before speaking, voice gruff and cold. “We need to talk. Now.”I let out a dry laugh. “No, no, no. Absolutely not. We’re not talking. I’m going to bathe, I’m going t

“By the way, Simeon…” I said, clearing my throat. “I won’t be staying here long. I have plans to return to where I was before the Lycan King kidnapped me.”“I’d rather call it saving your life, not kidnapping,” he responded calmly. “And besides, why would you want to return to a pack that treated you horribly and a mate who rejected you? Why not stay here, where you’ll be safe and treated well?”I stopped walking, caught off guard by his words. How did he know that? And why did he speak like someone much older than his age? Before I could even ask, he opened yet another door, this one leading to a long hallway.“And yes, before you ask,” he said, glancing back at me with a knowing look, “everyone already knows what happened. News spreads really fast around here. You really can’t hide things in this place.”“Everyone? What do you mean by everyone?” I asked, narrowing my eyes. “There are people in this place? How come I haven’t seen any?”Simeon let out a small laugh. “There’s more to t
