Angel's POV
The next day I left Harriet at Suki and David's house. I don't know if this day will be long or short. Of course I hoped it would be brief, like just having a short chat with Doctor Russell and then having dinner at a beachside restaurant. But I can't guarantee everything, especially Sean admits that his vision is quite blurry. I was getting worried about it.
"Babe, let's promise me first." Sean said as we waited in line in front of Doctor Russell's room. "Promise me you won't do anything I don't like when we meet Doctor Russell."
I frowned, "What do you mean?"
"Don't cry. You're not allowed to cry, or we won't get into his room at all."
For a moment I was silent. I felt like I was hit by a heavy object and I really wanted to cry. Why was Sean's request so difficult? I looked down and rubbed my teary eyes.
"I will try." I whispered.
"My future wife is smart." Sean compliments as he brings my face to his warm broad c
"Are you sure about your decision?" Steve asked for the umpteenth time, and my answer still didn't change. "I'm sure, Steve. Thank you for giving me so much leeway over the past month, but I really can't keep this job anymore." "I understand your situation, and I'll give you another leeway as long as you don't resign." I crumpled the box containing my office equipment. Yes, I'm in Steve's room to resign. Since a week ago I have written a resignation letter, but Steve always returns the letter to me. So this morning I immediately tidied my desk, and said I was leaving his office. "My mind is in a complete mess. While I'm here, my mind is only focused on Sean. I'm an unprofessional employee." "I'll give you days off. How about it, Angel? Can you consider that?" "You're a really good boss, but sorry I wanted to focus more on keeping Sean in the hospital." Steve tapped his finger on the table, then was silent for a long moment. He
"You'd better go home. You look tired. Let Anne and I stay at the hospital today." Hearing Harvey's suggestion, Sean glanced at me secretly. "I don't know. Should I go home?" I said looking at Sean. Sean's nod disappointed me. I'm not serious though. I also don't think I have the heart to leave him even for one night. "See? Get some rest." Harvey continued again. Speaking of Anne, she's still here. Sean and Harvey's mother had been quiet all this time while sat on the sofa, unlike Harvey and I who were talking in bed next to Sean. Anne had been crying hysterically in the hospital hallways until Harvey brought her here. I'm not comfortable with Anne, but she also has a right to be here even if it's not clear what she wants. "Are you sure you'll be fine without me?" Once again I asked for confirmation, but Sean didn't respond. His sleeping position had his back to all
AUTHOR'S POV"Harvey, do you still have feelings for Angel?"Those were the words Sean asked after Angel left. The last three days Sean had purposely stopped talking to Angel, not because he hated Angel, but he had been thinking a lot. Sean clearly loves Angel, until his love hurts his girlfriend again in a different way.Harvey glanced at his younger brother warily, "Why do you ask that?""Because after death I can't possibly ask.""Sean!" shouted Anne interrupting. "You'll be fine. Don't say weird things.""Don't interfere." Sean said."Sean! She's our mom. Don't be rude to her." Upset Harvey."I know she's our mom, but do you remember the last time she saw me? Yes, at my wedding." Sean smiled wryly, then his gaze was now on Anne who was starting to cry. "You know that I got Angel pregnant, but you forced me to marry Jessie only to protect Harvey's feelings. You hoped that that damn marriage would get Angel out of my life. Th
Angel's POV "We broke up? Are you kidding?" I looked around, looking for the possibility if Sean had put a hidden camera or something. Sean likes to tease me. I stopped laughing because Sean's face didn't look like he was playing. "I'm serious, Angel." For a moment I digested Sean's request carefully. "W-why is it suddenly like this?" "It's not sudden. I've been thinking for the last few days. I've also told Harvey and my mom about my decision." I looked at Sean in disbelief. If Sean had gone to the extent of telling Harvey and Anne about his decision, it was serious. I gripped Sean's hand tightly as my face looked at him in panic. "D-did I do something wrong? Tell me." "I'm giving you freedom, Angel. Don't you understand?" This time Sean spoke more firmly. "You can go where you like. Live in the country you've always dreamed of with Harriet. Start a new life without me. I've already sent the money into your savings account. If
Angel's POVThis afternoon Harvey and I went back to the hospital to see Sean. Sean was watching television, exactly the same as when I came here this morning. He saw my presence, but didn't say anything. Finding Sean ignoring me, I stayed in the doorway until Harvey pulled me in."Sean, Angel is here." Harvey said.Sean switched channels without looking at me or Harvey. "Why is she here again? Isn't my relationship with her over?"I looked down, and fiddled with my fingers. I shook my head and gave Harvey a sign that I couldn't stay here any longer. I want to go. But Harvey held my waist so I wouldn't keep walking backwards."Is this how you end a relationship? This is childish, and annoying." Harvey said as he stepped closer to Sean. "You used to ruin my marriage with Angel because you loved her. When you already have her, why do you throw Angel like trash? Don't you know how much I loved her too?"Sean gripped the television remote tighte
I remember how I struggled to have a child. For years I waited for a miracle, then asked myself; does God still not entrust me as a mother? Then my prayers were answered with Harriet, the beautiful and adorable female version of Sean. When I was pregnant with Harriet, Sean left me. And now the same thing is happening again. No, now it's even worse. Sean not only intended to leave me, but he also wanted me to abort my womb. A tiny fetus that is only two weeks old. "Sean, don't make Angel have an abortion! Otherwise you'll regret it for the rest of your life!" Harvey shouted while being pulled by hospital security. When Harvey beat Sean a few minutes ago, I wanted to restrain Harvey, but how could I do that when Sean had said such cruel words? I'm even quite grateful for what Harvey did earlier. Doctor Russell asked me to leave Sean's room so Sean could rest. As I was about to walk out, Sean grabbed my wrist, and I let go for the umpteenth time. "
"Once again I ask you. Are you sure about this decision?" I nodded in a lying position. Abortion is legal, but only for rape victims or those with medical indications. So I'm looking for a clinic which is certainly not legal. I knew it was easier for me to take misoprostol as an abortion pill because my fetus was still small and weak. But I couldn't bear to do it myself, and I'd rather let someone else abort my poor baby. Yesterday, after finding all of Sean's meds, I had a big fight with him. I feel betrayed. All my energy and time was wasted during the last month. Why should I fight so hard when he refuses to live? I'm the only one trying here, while he has no desire to recover at all. My disappointment ended in this cursed place. "Yes." I answered. "Then you can spread your legs and bend your knees. You're in a position like you're about to give birth." This middl
AUTHOR'S POV "Stop it!" Angel had almost lost consciousness, suddenly heard Sean's scream. Is this a hallucination? "S-stop, I beg you, madam." Angel's eyelids fluttered, and found Sean was crying. No, this wasn't just Angel's hallucination. This is reality. Sean pleads with an old woman named Olive not to have their child aborted. Even Sean was pleading with his hands clasped together, and he nearly fell out of his wheelchair. His sanity just returned. He really couldn't bear to see the sadness on Angel's face, and it occurred to him that their baby must be in pain too. Sean loves them, so why should he put his loved ones in such a difficult situation? Just because Sean wasn't sure he would recover, and he wasn't sure he would be able to take care of his second child in the future, why did he have to go this far? "Is the baby still... here?" Sean asked Olive. Sean felt a tremendous sense of dread. Whether Sean will die soon or not, Sean certainly doe
