FIFTY SIX

Nicholas brought the car to a stop in the garage of the restaurant. He stared at it. It looked like a really small restaurant – not a place he would ever bring a date to. But he wasn’t bringing a date; he was bringing his sister, Jenny and her best friend Ashley. Actually, he planned on taking only Jenny but Jenny had insisted that Ashley came with them. Now, three of them were here. Ashley still refused to grasp the fact that this wasn’t a date or that he didn’t even want her here. She kept bouncing around in excitement and blabbing about how this was just a stepping stone for her relationship with him. Silly, delusional girl.

Jenny stared out through the window. “Nicholas, what in the world are we doing here?” She asked in an incredulous tone.

“Well, I heard that they make very good pasta, so I thought we would come here to try it out?” He replies, forcing a proper amount of cheerfulness into his tone.
