Prologue

I was peacefully drinking my coffee outside the cafe, while staring at the view infront of me. There are a lot of people passing by and some are hanging around the bench, some of them are talking to one another while the others are minding their own business like me. 

My phone beeped indicating that there's a message, I took a peep to see who it was. It's my assistant, I picked up my phone to see her message.

“Ma'am, please don't be late. You have a meeting later today at 3 pm with Mr. Collahan and at 5 pm with Mr. Cohen.” 

She texted, I opened my iPad to confirm if I really do have one because sometimes she gets it wrong. I saw that there truly is so I quickly typed a message and sent it to her.

“Noted, where was it again?”  

After a few minutes, I received a reply from her.

“Your meeting with Mr. Collahan will be at his wife's restaurant while Mr. Cohen will be waiting at the cafe beside his company building.”

I nodded as if she can see me, I typed 'okay' and sent it to her before placing my phone back down on the coffee table to continue sipping my coffee peacefully.

I stayed at the cafe for a few more minutes before deciding to go back to my office. I drove my way towards my office, it was a silent drive while I was on my way. I didn't like turning on the radio, nor listening to any music.

When I arrived, I handed my key to the valet before entering the building and walking inside the elevator to reach the floor where my office is.

As soon as I got out of the elevator, I walked directly towards my office and got inside. I placed my purse on my desk and walked near the window to open up the blinds. The afternoon sunlight was hitting my skin.

I smiled and sat down at the chair and turned on the laptop which was infront of me, I scrolled through my news feed for a bit before starting to do some works.

I stood up and stretched my back, after doing so, I check the time on my wrist watch. It was 2:30. I turned my laptop off and took my purse before heading out.

I climbed the elevator down and walked towards the parking area of the building. I opened my car and got in, I checked the rearview mirror to see if there was a car or anyone passing by but good thing, there wasn't, so I turned the engine on.

I made my way to the said place, I drove my way slowly to avoid any accident. As soon as I arrived, I parked my car and got out of it. I looked at my watch before continuing on my tracks. It was 2:59 in the afternoon, I'm right on time.

I walked inside the restaurant and looked for Mr. Collahan, he was sitting at a nearby window. When he saw me, he raised his hands and waved to come. I smiled at his direction and slowly walked towards him. 

I greeted him, he then in turn demanded me to take a sit. So I did. When I sat down, our meeting didn't start right ahead. There was just awkward silence for a moment.

“Can you please stop acting so formal? It's as if we weren't friends back then.” he said to break the silence, I smirked and leaned closer.

“I would want to, Mr. Collahan. But I can't, you're also my ex's friend.” I laughed bitterly, he sighed and looked at me sadly.

“I know, but I—” I interrupted him.

“You asked me to meet you here to talk about business, not to bring up the past. So if you wouldn't mind, can we proceed?” I cut him off, I crossed my legs and stared at his eyes. 

“Right, let's start then.” he said, he begun to talk so I in turn listened to what he says. “I want you to design my new house that is located in Sanford, you remember that place right? My wife and I want to move back in that town, that's why we wanted that our new house would be there.” he explained, the memories from the past flashed right in front of my eyes when he mentioned the place. The place where I found love, felt different kinds of emotions and met strangers that became close to my heart but in the end, we just turned to be strangers with fun memories kept hidden and treasured.

“Sure, text me the details whether you want it farmhouse, craftsman, contemporary or just plain modern. And send me your current house address, so I could mail you the blueprints of the house.” I told him, he nodded. I was about to go when I remember something, so I turned to look at him. “But before I even start doing the blueprints, can you tell me where the lot is? I've go no other plans for this day so maybe I can check it.” I lied, I still have a meetinf with Mr. Cohen. He nodded again.

“I'll text you the details and send the directions.” he told me, I in turn nodded and smiled.

“That's all, right?” I queried him, 

“Yeah ” he said shortly, I nodded and stood up. “It was nice seeing you again, Architect Gen.” he said then smiled. 

I looked at him, “It was nice seeing you too, Attorney Collahan.” I said with a small smile and turned my back to walk away.

I walked towards the parking lot and turned the engine on. I was about to leave when my phone beeped on my purse, I took it out to see who texted me. It was Jake.

“This is the direction towards the lot. I want it plain modern.”

I read the text, I send him a text saying 'Noted' before leaving the place.

I decided to just go there tomorrow since I only have 40 minutes left before my meeting with Mr. Cohen.

I passed by at the gas station to fill up my tank, after doing so, I spent the rest of my time at the cafe reading my emails and scrolling through my news feed. When I looked at my wrist watch, it was 4:52. 

I stood up and took my purse with me, I made my way to the parking and got inside the car. I sighed and shut my eyes close before turning the engine on to leave. My grip on the wheel became tighter and tighter as I was getting close to the Cafe, my heart beating fast and loud.

I got in and turned to look around to see where he was sitting, my eyes met his. The whole world felt like it stopped spinning on its axis and everything went slow motion.

I walked closer and closer to him, “Gen.” he said on a low voice, my heart beat so hard and fast against my ribcage, as I looked at the guy who is now infront of me.
