CHAPTER THIRTY SIX - DEPARTURE

The Alpha's statement makes everyone around us gasp and I hear whispers of people wondering if Shane will be replaced by someone else.

"I don't mean to disrespect you, Alpha Gavin, but I think it would be unfair if he is not given a chance to defend himself."

A strong and defiant voice says, rising above all the voices in the hall and everyone turns toward me in shock.

That's when I realize that the strong and defiant voice belongs to me.

Alpha Gavin looks surprised as he raises a brow at me, as if in a challenge. I stand straighter and hold my ground. There is no backing out now. I have to do this for Shane. For my best friend.

"Are you sure you don't mean to be disrespectful by questioning the Alpha's decision?"

I take in a deep breathe. I can get in serious trouble if the Alpha gets offended because I am not a high rank member of the pack.

"I am just stating what the law says, Alpha," I say.
