Katie's POV

The courtyard still smelled of iron and smoke when I left the fountain, but the stench faded with each step away from the castle and into the lanes that spread outward like veins. My boots were smeared with old blood that would never wash out; I kept thinking I could scrub it away with running water, but the marks seemed to sink deeper than the skin. They were inside me now.

“Take care of them,” I told the twins, hard and quick.

They didn’t argue—because they were themselves, stubborn and brave—but I saw the hesitation in both of them. They want to go with me but at the same time, they couldn't just leave the others behind here again.

Rori’s jaw had tightened into a line, and Victoria’s fingers had gone white around the hem of her dress.

“We will,” they said in unison.

“That’s an order,” I added. “Sebastian and Miranda need rest and someone to hold the castle together while I go find that stubborn brother of yours.”

Rori opened his mouth. He was going to march on after me,

  • Unwanted Omega   121 - Heat of the Bloodline

Katie's POV The battlefield was a wreck—blood-slick ground, splintered stone, smoke curling from half-burnt banners. My pulse still hadn’t slowed from Draven’s last taunt, but the air was finally—mercifully—free of his presence. Vladimyr’s shadowed aura was pulling back, the glyphs across his skin dimming, though his grip on my arm hadn’t loosened. We were still standing in that tense quiet when a shimmer tore the air in front of us—light bending, distorting, before snapping back into place. Two figures stepped out of it like they’d just walked through a doorway instead of a tear in reality. And of course it is Tori and Rori. They both froze when they took in the scene—Vlad’s jaw bloodied, my shirt slashed and stained, Fenrir clutching his side, Sebastian’s shoulder hanging at an awkward angle.Victoria’s eyes—sharp amber, brighter than the fire licking at the edges of her aura—landed on Fenrir first. But when her gaze swept to Sebastian, she stopped cold. The air between us seemed t

  • Unwanted Omega   120 - Between Whips and Blades

Katie's POV The “black” wasn’t unconsciousness. It was instinct.Reflex.Before Draven’s fingers could close around me, I rolled hard to the left, boots catching on the torn edge of the tent floor. My hand was already at my belt. The familiar weight of my titanium whips slid into my grip with a comforting hiss.A snap of my wrist and the first coil lashed toward him, catching the faint light as it split the air. He stepped back, faster than I wanted, but I still caught the edge of his coat. The metal tips sparked against whatever enchantment he’d lined it with.He laughed—low and rich, like we were sparring instead of dancing on the knife’s edge of murder.“Ah. The little wolf bites back.”“Bite this,” I spat, spinning into a low crouch. My dagger came free from my boot and I launched it at his throat. The blade should’ve buried itself in flesh. Instead, it stopped mid-air, quivering as if an invisible hand had plucked it from its path. His eyes darkened further, like I’d just given

  • Unwanted Omega   119 - A Moment of Peace?

Katie's POVThe world returned to me in fragments—heat at my side, the faint scent of iron, the ragged thump of a heartbeat that wasn’t my own.I expected the first thing I’d hear to be Vladimyr’s voice, low and scathing, ready to tear into me for waking at the wrong time or for stepping into his fight and not just staying behind to watch over our people. But instead…Fingers brushed my cheek. Not harshly. Not to check for wounds like a commander inspecting his soldier, but soft—almost reverent.“Easy, my heart,” he murmured, as though afraid the sound might splinter me. “You’re safe.”Safe..I blinked up at him, confused. His hair was a wild mess from the battle just seconds ago. There was blood drying along his jawline, and the faint red glow in his eyes told me Lucifer hadn’t gone entirely back to sleep. As if that devil of mine would.By all logic, this should be the moment he lectured me until sunrise.Instead, he held me like I might vanish if he let go.“You should be furious,”

  • Unwanted Omega   118 - His North

Vladimyr's POV The distance between us felt like a taut wire—one wrong move, and it would snap into bloodshed.Draven’s grip on the trembling human duchess was almost casual, but the faint pulse of compulsion in the air told me it wasn’t kindness that kept her still. The human’s knuckles were white where she clutched her skirts, and though her head stayed bowed, I caught the flicker of her eyes. Pleading.“Let her go,” I said. My voice was low, measured—each word a promise sharpened to a blade.“Who?” The damned bloke of a duke asked as he tightened his grip on his supposed to be ‘heart.’I glared. “Both of them. Especially my mate.” “Oh, I will,” Draven said, tilting his head in mock consideration. “But you’ll give me something in return.”His gaze slid over me, assessing, calculating. “That ancient treasure in the North.”My nails dug into my palms. “You’re a fool if you think I’ll hand you that.”‘You don't even know what or where it is.’ Lucifer laughed inside my head. I inwardl

  • Unwanted Omega   117 - Devil's Restraint

Vladimyr's POVThe air crackled with dark energy. Although, that isn't uncommon here in the vampire territory. The fortress loomed, a monument to Draven's twisted ambition. Lucifer was a coiled shadow, a tense power humming beneath my skin."He knows we're here," my devil murmured, his voice tight.I didn't need him to tell me. The very stones seemed to pulse with anticipation, a kind of predatory awareness that sent a shiver down my spine. But something was off. The air was heavy, stagnant. Almost… expectant."Too quiet," I muttered, my hand instinctively tightening around a stake. "The dumbass psycho is toying with us."Then, a flicker in the corner of my eye. A ripple in the air, like heat rising off asphalt.A portal. But not one of ours. This one pulsed with the same dark energy that permeated the fortress, laced with something else… something sickeningly sweet and familiar.Draven.He stepped through the portal, and I was ready to strike. But this time, it wasn't Draven who cam

  • Unwanted Omega   116 - Wolves Never Wait

Katie's POV The second I realized he was gone, the ache inside me ignited into a fury that could’ve burned through stone.HOW DARE HE!?!I am honestly considering punching his face for this!‘Please don’t damage his handsome visage!’ Kath whimpered and I could only roll my eyes. Although she, too, is fuming at the audacity of our mate.I leapt off the bed, barefoot, hair a mess, heart pounding loud enough to crack ribs. Fenrir was already growling—low and guttural—his hackles raised and eyes blazing with primal light. My wolf’s presence clawed at the walls of my skull, wild and snarling.‘He left us.. again!’ she hissed. ‘He left us alone! That selfish, reckless, bone-headed bastard! Okay! Now I agree to punching his face!’I inwardly chuckled at her outburst. My teeth were gritted too tightly, and I knew if I opened my mouth now, I might scream so hard the whole castle would shake.I threw open the bedroom doors. With force and purpose.A gust of raw pheromones exploded into the hal
