The music began playing as soon as the large mahogany doors opened.

Vernon forced his gaze not to wander and his heart pounded in his chest. His shoes were heavy against the expensive carpet and he wondered if he was going to fall.

As if sensing his anxiety his father leaned in to whisper "Don't worry, son. Papa will not let you fall."

Vernon nodded and tightened his grip on the older man's arm.

His eyes fell on the alpha standing by the aisle.

Dressed in a black suit that accentuated his wild shoulders and muscular physique with his hair in a man bun, Xavier Donovan looked gorgeous.

And devastatingly handsome.

The walk was over and Vernon found himself taking the alpha's offered hands.

It was large and warm.

Marcus nodded and left to his designated seat.

"Are you ready?"

Vernon nervously licked his lips. "No."

Xavier hummed. "Honest. I like that."

Vernon did not know how to respond to that.

The ceremony passed and Vernon found himself repeating his vows. The words were ingrained deeply into his mind.

His heart skipped when they were told to kiss.

How was he supposed to—

A soft press of lips at the corner of his mouth snapped Vernon out of his thoughts.

He barely had time to register it before Xavier pulled away with a smirk on his lips.

Did the alpha just—

He shook his head and tried to focus on the rest of the ceremony avoiding Xavier's eyes.

If his cheeks were red, he would only blame the heat.

                       ************

The after party was spectacular. Xavier observed the guests from the top of the stairs while keeping an eye on his husband.

"I cannot believe you are already a married man."

Xavier jaw clenched and his hand curled into a fist. "Why are you here?"

"That is no way to speak to your mother, is it?"

The alpha turned to meet the woman's eyes and he chuckled. "I don't remember having one."

The woman's eyes flashed with hurt which she masked with a smile. "He's gorgeous," she whispered, eyes lowering to the crowd downstairs.

Xavier's eyes fell on Vernon. He watched as he chatted away with his brother and it caused a fuzzy feeling in his chest.

"You love him" his mother said with a soft smile on her lips. "I am happy for you."

The alpha sighed. "Did you come all the way here to tell me that?"

He looked at her. "You should stop pretending to be something we know you are not."

His mother was silent for a while. "I know you are angry" she said softly. "But I never meant for all that to happen."

"Your grandfather caused all this. He made me—"

Xavier chuckled interrupting her. "Of course. It is easier to blame others for your mistakes than yourself, is it not?"

"You have always been good at that."

"Xavier—"

"Stay away" the alpha said. "Just like you have all this years."

With that, he walked away.

His mother stared after him helplessly and tears filled her eyes.

                              *********

"Xavier is not a bad person you know?"

Vernon resisted the urge to scoff at his brother's words. He downed his drink the wine's sweet taste sliding down his throat.

He glared at his brother. "The articles say much about his behavior. I know it is true."

Kyle shot him a look. "Since when did you start believing the press and paparazzi?"

"That is very hypocritical of you."

"Since Dad thought it was okay to sell his son" Vernon said with a shrug.

"That is a lie and you know it," His brother said with a sigh.

Vernon rolled his eyes. "I have already made peace with it. Tell Dad to expect a divorce in a week."

"This union will not last."

A hand grabbed his shoulder and he turned to meet his father's eyes. "Barely a day into the marriage and you are already complaining about your husband?"

"That is very rude."

Vernon huffed but said nothing.

Kyle, not one miss the opportunity to tease his younger brother chipped in, "And to think the alpha took him out a few days ago."

He wiggled his brows, lifting his glass to his lips.

Marcus's brow raised. "Is that so?" He shot his son a look. "You could not wait till the wedding?"

Vernon's cheeks reddened at the implication of his father's question. "That's not... what happened. We didn't..."

His father chuckled kissing his temple. "I won't mind if you did. You're both adults."

"My little brother is also bold" Kyle added with a smirk. "I'm sure Xavier couldn't resist."

Vernon shook his head "I'm telling you that nothing happened. Why won't you—"

"Darling," came Vincent's voice. "We have guests that want to meet you."

He circled an arm around his husband's waist which Marcus immediately leaned into.

Vernon looked away from his parents, a lump stuck in his throat.

"Fine" the omega heard his father grumble. "You owe me dinner for a week."

"Make that a month" his dad replied softly and led his husband away.

"They still love each other after all this years" Kyle mumbled with a wistful sigh. "I want what they have."

Vernon snorted. "I doubt you can get that."

His brother regarded him for a while. "You tried to run away didn't you?"

Vernon stiffened. "Yeah," he admitted quietly. "Xavier brought me back."

"You should give him a chance" Kyle suggested. "He seems like a great guy."

Vernon's eyes fell on the alpha standing at the other side of the hall. Xavier was talking and smiling with a guest.

"It is not that easy."

"You're the one making it harder than it is" his brother argued.

Their father waved Kyle over and he kept his glass.

"I will be right back."

Vernon nodded and watched his brother leave. The party was a busy affair and the omega's gaze roamed around the extravagant decorations.

His shifted on his feet masking his tiredness with a polite smile.

So far, no one had approached him yet and he was grateful.

"I wonder what he sees in you," a male voice sounded beside him. "You're barely up to standards."

Vernon winced at the nasally voice before turning to the newcomer. He raised a brow. "And you are?"

The other looked offended. "I'm Oliver Hamilton" he stretched a hand with a devious smile on his lips.

"Xavier's ex."

"What?" Simon's eyes were wide as he stared at the alpha. The omega's heart pounded in his chest, not believing what he just heard. It couldn't be—"Marry me," Kyle repeated. "I want to start a life with you."The room was plunged into silence as Simon's gaze darted around the room, completely at loss for words. "You're joking..." He chuckled awkwardly. "Right?"The alpha shook his head, tenderly caressing his cheek. "I would never do that to you.""Will you give me an answer now?"The omega bit his lip. "Why do you want to marry me?"Kyle's lips tugged in a smile, eyes filled with sincerity. "I want us to be together. You're everything I need."He intertwined their fingers. "I love you and I see a future with you."Simon wasn't convinced. "I'm a mess. I can't—""You're not," the alpha interrupted, kissing his knuckles. "You're the reason why my days are brighter and happier. Knowing you are with me, is enough to make me look forward to everyday.""I want to spend the rest of my life

Vernon's heart skipped a beat as they stopped at an unmarked headstone. He glanced at the alpha, barely able to hide his nervousness."Is this...? He trailed off, unsure."It's my dad's," Xavier clarified. He stared at the headstone, a blank expression on his face."Why is it unmarked?"The alpha's lips twitched. "It was his last wish." He exhaled quietly. "Dad never said why he wanted it that way."Vernon swallowed and looked back at the headstone. He tightened his grip on his husband's hand as he took a step forward. "I'm Vernon," he began, voice slightly shaky. From his peripheral vision, the omega could see Xavier's brow raised in surprise."I'm honored to meet you, Mr. Donovan. Your son is an amazing man, alpha and husband," he added. "I'm lucky to be with him."Vernon licked his dry lips. "I promise to love, support and care for your son for as long as I draw breath. Don't worry about him being alone.""He might not be the kindest person out there but..." Xavier let out a quie

The limousine stopped at the entrance of a black, large gate and Vernon glanced at his husband. "Is this where we are—""I want you to meet my dad."The omega's eyes widened. "Why didn't you say anything?"Xavier's brows furrowed. "I just thought that—""I could've brought flowers and given it to him and—""The dead has no use for flowers," the alpha calmly interrupted. "Let's go."Vernon watched him step out of the car and he sighed, before getting out. He sidled up to the alpha, fingers shaking with nervousness. "How should I act?"Xavier's lips twitched with amusement. "He's dead. There's nothing he can do to you—""Be serious!" the omega scolded, slapping his shoulder. "I don't know what to do.""Just be yourself, sweetheart." The alpha leaned in and kissed his forehead. Simon checked the time, pacing around the room as he bit his lips nervously. "What was I even thinking?"He looked down at the outfit he was wearing. A black satin shirt that hung on his slender form, stopping just above his laps, exposing the pale thighs and legs."There's still time to—"The doorbell rang, cutting him off and the omega stilled, heart skipping a beat."I need to go and change—"The bell rung again more urgently and repeatedly and Simon ran to open it. His usually tidy hair was slightly messy, like he had ran his fingers through it on the way.His gaze trailed over Simon and the omega's body tingled in response to the heated gaze. "Why did you send that picture to me?"Simon swallowed, shifting on his feet. He was suddenly aware of his exposed legs. "I was feeling a bit...""Rebellious?" the alpha finished for him, eyes fill

"Finally," Simon exclaimed, standing up from his seat. He cracked his knuckles as he looked at the file in front of him."And that probably sums everything up." The omega's gaze slid to the wall clock and he let out a gasp."Twelve thirty!"Simon immediately grabbed his bag and the file and rushed out. He sprinted to Felix's office and knocked."I'm done with the file!" he yelled, knocking more urgently."Who's there?" a voice asked and the security guard came into view."It's late. What are you doing here?"The omega stopped knocking and looked at him, slightly sheepish. "I'm sorry. It's just that I want to speak to Felix and he hasn't—""Mr Felix?" the security guard interrupted, brows furrowed in confusion. "He has already gone home."Simon frowned. "What?" "But he said he was going to wait for me in his office and we were going to go home together."The other raised a brow in surprise. Vernon woke up to fingers threading softly in his hair. He leaned in to the familiar touch, a small smile curving his lips."You didn't wake me up," he murmured, eyes still closed. "Your promise was..."A soft kiss to the lips interrupted his statement and the omega's eyes fluttered open to see his husband gazing at him fondly. It made his heart skip a beat."I didn't want to disturb your peace so I let you sleep some more," Xavier whispered. "I know you're probably tired from last night's activities," he added and Vernon's cheeks turned crimson. He slapped the alpha's arm, hissing, "You're shameless!"The other let him, chuckling. "You didn't think so when I was—""Shut up!" Vernon said, covering his mouth. "I mean it, Xavier."The alpha gently pulled the hand away, turned it and gave the knuckles a kiss. "You're just so easy to tease."The omega arched a brow at him, despite his heart melting at the soft gaze of his husband on him. "Are you implying something, Mr. Donovan?"Xavier,
