Chapter 8

"Sure. You two should have a lot to talk about." My enthusiasm stunned Hansen.

In fact, I did it just to prevent Sebastian from spilling the beans.

"Nah. I'd prefer Hansen take me back," Sebastian refused my proposal with a smile.

My dad naturally agreed.

Then he returned to his room to get dressed.

Barbara, on the other hand, cleared the table and carried the dishes back to the kitchen.

Only Sebastian and I were left in the dining room.

I stood up, walked to him, and leaned over.

"Why wouldn't you let me take you home?" I whispered.

"Don't overthink. I turned you down simply because my parents are home," he answered casually.

I did a double-take and said, "I wasn't gonna visit your house."

He looked up, his lips almost touching mine.

Astounded, I immediately straightened up and stepped back.

His gaze toward me turned meaningful.

"So you wanna do it again in the car?" he cooed.

An embarrassed blush settled on my cheeks.

"Stop talking nonsense," I hissed.

"When did I talk nonsense?" he shrugged and continued, "You said it yourself last night..."

He left the sentence unfinished and smirked.

Damn it!

"Shut up!" I couldn't help raging.

How I wish I could tape his mouth shut!

"Weren't you the one who kept suggesting we did it again last night? Why are you blushing now?" He stared at my burning face and laughed out loud.

"Piss off." I clenched my fists and glared at him.

"Fine. I'm just about to leave anyway." He stood up nonchalantly.

Hansen had walked out of his bedroom fully dressed.

When Sebastian walked to the door, he turned around and bid me farewell. "Seeya, Jasmine."

With that, he followed Hansen out of my house as if nothing had happened between us.

After he left, I stood in the dining room, lost in thought.

Barbara came out of the kitchen and strode to me.

"I didn't expect Mr. Munoz's son to be so handsome. If only he were part of our family," she exclaimed.

I eyed Barbara with confusion and asked tentatively, "You wanna marry Mr. Munoz?"

"What are you talking about?" Barbara rolled her eyes at me and said, "I mean, it'll be great if you marry a guy like Sebastian."

So that was what she meant.

I shrugged and said, "Sorry, Mom. I'm not good enough for a man like him."

"I know." Barbara turned her head and sized me up.

Right now, I wasn't wearing any makeup. I was in the most ordinary T-shirt and jeans with my hair tied in a ponytail.

I saw disdain in her eyes.

If only I could run back to my room right now...

Just then, she suddenly spoke up, "Though you inherited my beauty, you really can't marry Sebastian. Hansen told me that Sebastian was about to get engaged."

"Engaged?" I acted curious, trying my best to stay composed.

"Yeah, to the daughter of the head of another company," Barbara said, shaking her head. "They are doing it for the sake of their family businesses."

Her words had my heart dropping in my stomach, my mind going blank.

So I got Sebastian cheated on his soon-to-be fiancée last night?

I was so screwed.

What a horrible thing I had done!

If someone found out about it, my reputation would be ruined.

"What are you thinking?" Barbara's voice interrupted my thoughts. "I heard that when the two companies joined forces, Hansen would get promoted. He has been waiting for it like forever. That's why I asked you to be nicer to Sebastian," she reminded me.

"Got it," I stuttered in response.

My mind was in turmoil.

If my one-night stand with Sebastian was exposed, his engagement would definitely fall through. And the promotion my dad had been craving would be scuppered, too.
