Chapter 9

I didn't know where Sebastian's home was or when Hansen would be back.

So, after I washed up in my room, I kept wandering around the living room.

"Aren't you going to work today?" Barbara couldn't help asking. It was the third time she saw me come out of my room.

"Mom, today's Saturday," I sighed. "You are too strict with me."

With a shrug, I took out a bottle of milk from the fridge, pretending to be thirsty.

I took a sip, and a sour taste filled my mouth. I immediately ran to the kitchen sink and spat it out, frowning.

"Mom, it's stale. Why is it still in the fridge?" I asked, shaking the milk bottle.

Sitting on the couch watching TV, Barbara replied nonchalantly, "I thought you'd check the expiration date before drinking."

Speechless, I walked to the dining table and sat down with my mug.

After a while, Hansen finally came back.

I carefully observed his facial expression. He seemed pretty natural, except looking a bit tired.

Phew. It seemed he hadn't found out about it.
