"This is domestic violence! Why didn't you call the police?" I gaped.

I wanted to roll his sleeve up further to check how badly he was injured, but he pushed my hand away.

He smiled at me and said, "Don't worry. It's no big deal. I bumped into the cabinet while running."

Since he refused to tell me, he must have his reasons.

With a shrug, I asked, "Why did Mr. Munoz beat you so hard?"

"Well, it's not your fault anyway." He took a glance at me, his tone casual. Then he sat in a chair and resumed playing mobile games.

I felt less guilty thanks to his answer.

"That's good news. Don't you have another place to go to? Why did you have to come to my house? What if your future fiancée misunderstands our relationship?" I asked.

"I have nowhere else to go." He replied without lifting his head.

"Why don't you go to the hotel? It's not like you can't afford it," I wondered.

"My dad froze my card." He looked up at me and asked, "You wanna drive me away?"

I paused and said, "How can I let you stay
