Chapter 1

It's 7 am and I have been lying here awake for the last 45 minutes. Moving to a new city has been kind of hard for me. I miss my old friends but my father assured me once we moved here I'd make new ones. We've been here a few months now and I still don't know anyone. School starts soon and I will be a junior in high school. I am supposed to be a senior but I was held back in 6th grade. I am scared that I won't fit in with any of the crowds here because where we moved from was pretty bad, here everyone seems stuck up. I shouldn't care though because I have always been a loner.

I get up and go fix myself something to eat and head back to my room. I turn on the radio and listen to music while I am eating. When I finished eating I put a movie in and try to get into it so I can try and forget about how bored I am. 3 movies later and I am still bored and there is nothing to do. My father is on his computer chatting away with women from different states. I walk into the living room and tell him I am bored. I ask if we can go out and do something but like always I get not right now. I told him I was bored and he looks at me and says,

"You are on summer break Crystal you can go outside and find something to do.”

I roll my eyes at him and say there isn't anything to do here besides sit outside. We don't even have a pool. He turns back to the computer screen and ignores me. I huff and decide to go find something to do outside. I walked out on the front porch and hopped up on the rail and sat there looking around. I sat there for a while just staring across the street and watching the birds land in our yard and fly away again.

I finally got up and went inside and changed into some shorts and my bathing suit top. I walked through the living room and told my father I was going to wash the car. When I was halfway done washing the car I noticed a black SUV driving slowly down my street. The window was down and a guy was staring at me. I rolled my eyes and watched him pull out of the neighborhood and with my house being the first one I could see him still staring at me as he was driving away. He looked like he was close to my age but I didn't get a very good look at him.

I went back to finishing the car and as I was bending over to put the sponge in the bucket and rinse my hands off that black SUV pulled up in front of my driveway and the guy rolled the passenger window down and motioned for me to come to the car. I hesitated but slowly walked over and when I got close enough I could see he was young. He looked like he was 18 or 19 years old and he was very good-looking. He said hi to me and said he had to run home for a few minutes but he wanted to come back down and talk to me.

I said that was fine and he drove up the street. I picked up the bucket and hose and put them up and went inside to change my clothes. I put on a pair of baggy jeans and a cute shirt and went and sat outside close to the road waiting on him to come back. It had been about 2 hours since I came back out to wait on him and the sun was starting to go down I had been sitting here drawing in one of my journals and was just about to get up and go inside when I looked up and saw someone walking down the road. I figured it was him so I closed my journal and waited until he got closer to me. He sat down on the curb next to our mailbox where there was more light. I got up and walked over to him and sat down next to him. I was nervous because I'm not one of the girls who usually catch a guy's attention and them want to talk to me. So I sat there smiling like an idiot and my hands shaking.

He laughed and said,

“Why are you so quiet?"

I said because I'm nervous. He said,

“why are you nervous?"

I said I'm not used to guys wanting to talk to me. He laughed and said,

“my name is Brooks. What's your name?"

I smiled and said my name is Crystal. He said,

“it's nice to meet you, Crystal."

I smiled and put my head down. He said,

"how old are you?”

I said 17 how old are you? He said,

“I am 21."

I said Oh you don't look 21. He said,

“how old do I look?”

I said I thought you were 18 or 19. He chuckled and said nope I am 21. He said,

“how long have you lived here?"

I said we moved in a few months ago. He smiled and said,

“I don't want to get you in any trouble with your parents so I am going to head home but I enjoyed talking to you Crystal and I hope we hang out sometime.”

I smiled and said it was nice to meet you Brooks and I enjoyed talking to you too. I hope we can too. He said,

“see you later."

He walked back up the street and I went inside and had a huge smile on my face. I went to my room and laid back on my bed and giggled like a little girl. I thought to myself the first guy I have met here is hot and wants to hang out with me. Unfortunately, he is too old for me and I'm sure he doesn't like me like that anyway. He was probably just being nice. My father called me to come eat dinner so I got up and went into the dining room and ate. When I finished dinner, I went back to my room turned my radio on, and laid down. I fell asleep and ended u dreaming about the gorgeous guy who wanted to talk to me.
