The car pulled up outside the venue at eight o'clock exactly. The building was designed with all clean lines and lit glass, the entrance was flanked by arrangement of barriers and lighting that transformed an arriving crowd into content. The Vine Entertainment showcase drew a specific tier of industry attendance, a kind of even where everyone was there to be seen and had prepared accordingly. Some were there to make new connections while some were there to flaunt the connections they'd made and also to gist. Regardless, what nobody had prepared them for apparently was them. It was like an automatic gravitational thing. After all, she had suddenly seemed to become the star of the night so she waa used to it. She had been ready for twenty minutes before she allowed herself to look. The mirror in her bedroom was full length, positioned beside the wardrobe where the light from the window caught it correctly in the evening. She bit her lips, clearly pleased with what she was looking at in the mirror. The gown she had decided to go for was a deep burgundy and it was structured at the bodice with a sweetheart neckline that sat cleanly against her collarbone, fitted through the waist, and fell into a skirt with enough movement to be interesting without being dramatic. The fabric had a subtle sheen to it and the back was low fitting more into her shape.Her hair was up, with a soft twist that left a few pieces loose at her jaw and the back of her neck. The makeup was light and precise, enhancing the architecture of her face without announcing itself. She didn't want to drag too much attention to herself. She already had to deal with a lot. She looked at herself for another minute and smiled.

Everyone was present at the sudden meeting in the main production suite on the third floor of the studio building. It had become a familiar space for such things to be held. The cast settled in with their coffees and their scripts and the low level speculation that ran through any production meeting that hadn't been precedes by an agenda. Vespera took her usual seat and listened to all the guesses. Jerry came in at three minutes past ten. He set this folder on the table, looked around at the assembled faces and smiled. "Good morning, everyone. I won't waste anyone's time and just get straight to what this is about. We are making a cast addition. The network came back to us on the supporting role in episodes seven through ten which is the younger sister arc. We've been running with the role underwritten, as you know, and they want it filled properly." He glanced at the folder again and then back up. "We have someone coming in. Katy found Lynn in the corridor outside the production wing. She almost walked past her but her horrible state made her pay attention to notice it was even her. She stopped and looked at Lynn from the gown to the hair to the face and back to the gown. "What...the...hell...hapoened to you?"Lynn straightened from the wall. Vespera exhaled in relief after the final cut had been announced. The scene wrapped at half past two. It had been a good shoot. There was no trouble and also certainly, no trouble with Katy. Jerry had called cut on the final scene with the specific satisfaction of a man who was ahead of schedule and intended to enjoy it. "Good job, my darling." Jerry blew her a kiss, causing her to smile. Vespera came off set in high energy, proud that things had gone the way they were supposed to go. Ezekiel arrived at the office at seven fifty-three. This was not unusual. What was unusual was that he had been awake since four and had spent the intervening hours doing the specific kind of non-sleeping that involved lying in the dark with his eyes open and his mind running calculations he hadn't even asked it to run. He had not resolved anything by morning. He just simply waited for it to be late enough to justify getting up. Philip was already at his desk outside the main office when Ezekiel came through.
