Valera's POV

The day that will determine my future in the world finally arrived. I stood weakly in the middle of the training ground, surrounded by the two pack members, the Sunlight and the Silverclaw packs. There was tension in the air, and with unprecedented anticipation from everyone, my heart pounded non-stop.

I couldn't believe that Alpha Kelly could suggest to them that we should fight! I mean. Why exactly will he want that? He knew I was pregnant, I was weak, and I was unsure of myself. I stared at the crowd and looked at myself; it was going to be a serious fight; however, I didn't feel the fire that usually burns inside of Mr. before a fight anymore. I felt something had changed now.

I couldn't believe that the small weapon I was given would feel so heavy in my hand; my grip was nothing but weak, and my fingers shook slightly as I tried to balance myself. My eyes took a glance at the ground, and my consciousness drifted back to the jungle, where everything was simpler. The animals, the trees, and the absolute sense of freedom, and I instantly wished I could go back there. I miss the jungle where I was a boss to animals myself. However, it's hard now—not even now! Not with the child that is right in my womb.

My left hand moved slightly to my stomach; I placed my hand on it, and I felt the slight swell that had started forming.

It was the only reason that I will stay, which will make me fight for my position in the Sunlight Pack. Right now, I couldn't abandon Alpha Kelly's baby; I couldn't let Celia win everything. I tightened my hands harder around the weapon; however, it didn't feel right! It was as if nothing felt right anymore.

Right in the middle of the battleground, Celia stood tall, with fully prepared and bold confidence, holding firmly to the instrument of war, her eyes radiating dangerous excitement, and her sharp smile indicated a mock. It was obvious she was ready for it, like she had prepared for this day all her life; she was ready to defeat me. However, here I was, looking weak, feeling weak, and I could even barely hold a knife.

Alpha Kelly was there, right on the sidelines, watching. His face was cold; it couldn't be read. I could feel the tension right in his face; I could sense the tension in him. I could tell that he had mixed feelings; he was uncertain, he was sure, and he also wasn't sure of me anymore. I couldn't fathom why he had proposed a fight between me and his fiance; I guess probably he was sure I could win. I felt if he wasn't sure, he would have just gone ahead and married his fiance without proposing a fight between us, not even in my condition.

The signal came earlier than I thought, and Celia lunged at me with extraordinary speed, and I tried to block her attack immediately; however, my body was too slow, and my reflexes had disappeared. Her blade grazed my arm and I instantly grasped in pain; it was an excruciating pain and then stumbled backward. There were uproarious murmurs in the crowd; however, I could barely hear them. My mind was swirling, and my chest rang some bell; it was tightened. I realized I was no longer myself anymore; I couldn't fight anymore.

Before I could stand firm on my feet, Celia attacked me again. She couldn't wait. This time around me, he moved fast and definite. I couldn't even keep up, and I struggled to block her strikes. My hands were weak; they were trembling hard, and my body felt the same. Every swing of my knife felt clumsy; they were uncoordinated, and I realized that I had lost my skills. I am no longer the Serena who defended her friends in the jungle; I couldn't even defend myself anymore.

I felt a wave of panic run over me. I tried to shift into my wolf form; however, I couldn't; nothing happened. The black evil pool took everything away from me, and I couldn't shift anymore; I could no longer fight. I was an ordinary shell of who I used to be.

It was as if my fears were obvious to Celia; she saw the fears and panic right in my eyes, and she smirked.

“Is this really all that you have gotten?” She taunted me, and her voice was filled with disdain.

Panic surged through me. I tried to shift, to call upon my wolf, but nothing happened. The black pool… it had taken everything from me. I couldn’t shift. I couldn’t fight. I was just a shell of who I used to be.

Celia saw the fear in my eyes and smirked. “Is this all you have got?” she taunted, her voice dripping with disdain. “You really think you can win?” She asked, already feeling disgusted by my actions.

I tried and swung my knife again, but it was nothing for her; she dodged it easily, and she started laughing. Her laughter echoed around the field, and she was immediately joined by the crowd. Their laughter echoed deeply right into my ears, and I wish I could block them. They were laughing so hard at me, at my failure. My eyes were blurry and filled with tears, but I immediately blinked it away. I couldn't cry, not for them, not in front of everyone.

Celia then moved closer to me and knocked off the knife in my hand with just a single swift motion, and I stumbled and fell to the ground. Dirt was clung to my skin, and I felt the bitter taste of defeat. I tried to stand up, but Celia was right there, standing right over me, pointing her blade rightly at my throat.

“Just give up now, Valera! It is over,” she said with a low, firm victorious voice. And absolutely, she was right; it was all over for me, and I had lost.

The crowd instantly boomed with cheers, but they weren't for me. They were for Celia; she has won easily. She would marry Alpha Kelly easily now. My heart got pieces as my eyes moved towards him slowly. I wished and prayed he would stop, and he would say anything just to stop this. However, he stood there; his eyes were cold and his face was hard as stone.

“Celia wins,” he finally said, his voice firm, cold and final. “The wedding will take place in two weeks.”

My breathing instantly seized for a moment. The wedding between Celia and Alpha Kelly was really going to take place. I eventually failed, not just in the contest but in everything. I couldn't protect myself; I couldn't protest my baby, and I couldn't protect my place in Alpha Kelly's life. I realized I wasn't a wolf anymore; I am an ordinary being.

Then I saw Alpha Kelly walking towards me. I thought he was coming to protect me, to tell me that he would always be there for me no matter what; however, his gaze was distant and empty, and his very handsome face looked way cold.

“From this very moment, Valera would no longer live here in the Sunlight Pack as someone worthy. From this moment she will serve as an omega, an ordinary maid.” The world immediately halted, and I felt like I had been punched right in my chest; the air knocked out of me, and my mind spewed as I tried to process what he had said. “An omega? An ordinary maid? That is who I am for now? My new place?”

Celia's face radiated with joy, and she smiled. She moved closer to Alpha Kelly and placed her hand right on his arm; her eyes ignited with cruelty, and she claimed him as hers in front of everyone.

“You heard him,” she sneered at me. “You’re nothing but a maid now. Isn't it the best place for someone like you?”

I kept quiet; I couldn't respond. My body felt numb too, and my mind was filled with excruciating pains. I was nobody anymore; Alpha Kelly, who put me in this situation, had forsaken me. I wished I could go back to the jungle; however, I couldn't any more; I was an ordinary human now with a child in my tummy. I wished Alpha Kelly didn't disrupt my peaceful moments in the jungle. Now he has cast me aside and chosen his fiance after doing this to my body, after making me useless.

I raised my eyes up to him for the last time to plead for him to change his mind; however, his eyes were somewhere else, and he didn't take a glance at me.

“You can leave now,” Alpha Kelly said quietly.

I stood, my legs trembling under me as I turned to leave. The judgment whispers and hangs heavy over me. The crowd parted slowly as I walked away, their eyes full of pity and disdain.

I was no longer Valera the Alpha Wolf anymore. I couldn't even fight to protect myself anymore. I was just Valera the Omega. And that… that was my new reality. The black pool and Alpha Kelly are both created for my destruction.
