AVA'S POV
My consciousness slowly returned and at first I couldn't feel my body. I couldn't see anything either, it was all dark around me, yet I could feel a strong and menacing presence, it didn't seem too far off either.
‘The moon goddess didn't give me another life?’ I questioned in an aggrieved tone, but I couldn't feel anything in the state I was in, which was surprising.
I felt like I was floating, but I couldn't make any sense of my surroundings. A fleeting feeling, soft as a feather, grazed my left cheek - it felt like it was there one moment and the next moment it vanquished.
When I tried to speak, my lips felt extremely chapped and cracked. As in on cue, I suddenly sensed gentle touches, light and feathery at first, but as time passed became more solid. Someone was shaking me awake, urging me to rouse myself, and so I did.
As my eyes slowly flickered open, the sudden brightness of the room forced me to shut them again, wincing at the intensity of the light.
“Ah,” I groaned, blinking my eyes a couple more times to get used to the sudden brightness.
The first face I saw was magnified in my view but I could make who it was, Alpha Axel. Up close to him, I could see my reflection in his dark eyes.
I didn't realize my lips were parted in awe, he just kept staring at me. I tried to remember how I got to this point but it seemed the more I tried to remember, the more I forgot.
“Are you alright?” Alpha Axel asked, with a slightly concerned look on his face, and his bare muscled chest heaving slightly.
“Oh, yes me. I-I-I'm fine. I mean I'm alright,” I stuttered, only managing to form coherent sentences, warmth coating my cheek.
The feeling of wanting to touch his ripped chest was far greater than anything but a quick glance at his face which held a frown and tightly pursed lips told me that would not be a good idea.
‘Way to go, huh. So much for being a werewolf,’ I thought, shutting my eyes tightly, my face scrunching up in disgust. When I opened my eyes, Alpha Axel was still staring intently at me, his eyebrows furrowed.
Awkward!
“Good morning, Alpha Axel,” I greeted awkwardly, meeting his gaze, my heart beating so furiously I was almost certain Alpha Axel could hear.
In response to my greeting, Alpha Axel harrumphed, after a while he asked me, “Do you feel pain anywhere?”
At that time, it suddenly clicked and the memories came back rushing to me. My hand immediately found my rib cage where the dagger had been lodged in, but there was nothing there. I couldn't feel any pain or even as much as a sting.
My lips curled in a small smile as I happily answered, “No, I don't feel any pain.”
He hummed, his lips sealed tightly as he continued to stare at me. I didn't know why but I was compelled to look at him but I did.
Something was pushing at my back from behind, as if trying to claim the space but I ignored it as it didn't make me absolutely uncomfortable.
His eyes seemed empty at first, then looked like it hid a lot of secrets, ones I was eager to find out. So I stretched my hand to touch him and… I was momentarily distracted, distracted by how firm his abs felt against my hand and in those few seconds, I became greedy for me but I never got more because I was suddenly pushed off.
When my gaze met Alpha Axel's, his face had darkened, a scowl was luxuriously resting on his face, like it had a place there and he was now standing away from me, like I had a disease or something.
That was the first time I realized he was stark naked. And my eyes out of sheer instincts, went down to peek at his d*ck. But peeking turned into a full blown out staring.
‘So big…’ My thoughts trailing, my eyes drawn to it as his movement made it away slightly.
‘Darn it, so much changes in how many years? That must be 12 inches right? Or is it longer?’ IALPHA AXEL'S POV“Why did you assign her to your room if you don't trust her?” Kaiden asked as soon as we left the training arena. “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer,” I replied with a bored tone. The phrase was something I had learnt due to interactions with humans for so long. “Did you forget what happened with Piper so soon?” Kaiden huffed, definitely not buying my reason. Piper was the daughter of my father's Beta and we had once been so close as friends until she tried to poison me following my parents death. Kaiden bringing up this particular matter made me clench my teeth in anger. Piper's betrayal still so fresh in my head.“Alpha,”“Alpha,”The guards outside the training room curtsied as I walked past them. “Can you even listen to yourself?” Kaiden boomed, his eyes darkening furiously. “We barely know her and you are going to trust her with your personal space.”“There's something about her…” I began but trailed off midway, unsure how to explain how diffe
AVA'S POV A knock broke up our little heart to heart discussion and goddess if I wasn't grateful for the interruption. There was no way I wanted to tell Sage what had happened but I couldn't lie either. Damn the Vampire Queen oath, I was bound not to tell lies. “You can go back to bed, you're pregnant, I'll check who's there,” I assured her, urging her to go back to bed. She obliged after a few seconds but I could see her hesitation. When I was sure I no longer appeared to have bawled my eyes to sleep, I pulled the door open and I was met with the face of one of the maids who was assigned to my room previously. ‘Thank goodness it wasn't the same maid,’ I muttered to myself. “You aren't dressed?” she asked, an alarmed look on her face as she forced her way in, looking me all over. “Dressed for what e
“What happened here?” I heard beta Kaiden ask but Alpha Axel kept mute and instead helped him up, leading him away without as much as a stare. Beta Kaiden's eyes met mine, confusion gracing his face, but I immediately turned my face away, staring at the earth beneath as they walked away. I stayed there for a while, watching them till they were out of sight and then the tears that had long threatened to fall, came running down along my cheeks. I whimpered softly so as not to alert anyone. My hands finding its way to my cheeks as I cleaned it slowly. “Ava?” I heard a soft voice behind me all of a sudden, making me jump in fright. It wasn't any I was familiar with. “Ma'am, it's just me,” the voice came again, granting me a good sight of the owner of the voice. That was a pretty familiar face. One of the maids who had helped arrange my room.
“Give me an answer to something I'm very inquisitive about, why do you, for some very crazy reason, always get involved with trouble?” Alpha Axel asked; staring down at me from where he stood. It felt kinda weird, awkward as well so I slowly stood up, confused on what to do.“I asked a question!” Alpha Axel suddenly raised his voice, causing me to jump in surprise at his tone.“I came out for a walk,” I began, meeting his icy gaze with a gaze of the same intensity. “Then he attacked me. How does that count as me having a tendency of always getting into trouble?”He stared at me for a long period of time or so I thought and I met his gaze for a long ti
AVA'S POV“Just how many broken people were in this pack? I should leave him alone with his problem, I mean, even I have mine to solve.” I muttered, just wanting to leave quickly and quietly without disturbing him. But his next words made me stop dead in my tracks.“Sage...” he called out again. Lifting his head, his eyes suddenly snapped in my direction. It was Kaiden. But there was something about him that was too scary. His beautiful brown eyes were gone, it was replaced with a blood red color, fully highlighted under the full moon.He dangerously stalked towards me and I'd be damned if I wasn't scared. I stepped back slowly, wanting to keep as much gap between us as possible.Suddenly, I couldn't see him again, the fear making me shiver furiously as I looked around, still retreating slowly until suddenly I hit a wall. A wall of flesh! I slowly turned, dreading what I would see. And that's when I saw him.Beta Kaiden's face was just inches from mine, his blood-red eyes blazing w
AVA'S POVThe pain, sorrow and regrets in her eyes were evident, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of empathy towards her. Despite the situation, I found myself wanting to comfort her, to tell her that everything would be okay. But deep down, I knew that the wounds ran too deep, and forgiveness would not come easily.I didn't know what to say or do, so I sat there, just staring and hoping that my presence was enough to speak volumes. “You're the first who hasn't ever run from me. Are you new to the pack?” Sage asked, after a while, when she was calmer. “Technically, I've been in the pack for the past forty days - in a coma.” I said rather playfully, but the look she gave me was one filled with pity. “How long have you been in this place, secluded from everyone else in the pack?” I asked, my curiosity piqued. “Almost three months now,” Sage said, a smile dazzling up her face. “I'm guessing no one dared to visit you here?” I asked again, even though I was sure of the answer. “E
