Chapter 4- Unbelievable

Claire said goodbye to Victoria as she prepared to depart.

Her day to relax was today. But she was at a loss about where to go. Her friends, who had also succeeded on the board exam, took a flight to their vacation spot. She was invited, but they were all with their families. If she observes their happiness with their family, she will become bitter once more and be overcome with sorrow and rage.

Claire sighed once again. She grabbed the bath towel and stepped into the shower right away.

"This is the life! Yea! Right!"

Claire is located in a small subdivision that is off-limits to cars. That's why the breeze is pleasant, particularly at night. But there are homes and businesses all over the place.

She was sitting in the locked rear of one of her father's cars, which had not been used for a long time, and drinking a glass of wine alone. Her car is in the shop right now. By tomorrow, the mechanic promised, it will be fixed.

She stared at the already-cut-in-half drink glass she was holding and spoke to it as if it were a person. "You are the one I will always love and can relate to my life! Greetings, buddy!" Then she raised the glass of wine into the air. Claire laughed. She is very drunk.

For one time only. She would dedicate the entire day and night to herself to indulge all of her desires. She will go back to her regular life after this day. She'll go back to the life that her father wanted for her. "It's great to be alone," Claire said eyes wide as she took in the stunning surroundings. "I don't need company! Do I need them? Hell no!" She sighed again before finishing her last glass and then throwing it somewhere.

Suddenly she heard a sound.

Claire scanned the area. Her car was the only one parked there.

"Is this your glass?"

When she heard a chilly voice, she gasped. The voice sounds so profound. She saw a man as she turned around. The man has an ashen face. She had the sensation that she wished she could run as quickly. However, she could not because the man grinned and extended his hand.

He spoke, "I'm Jaden."

Claire was taken aback by how cold his hand was, so she immediately removed her hand from him. "I apologize. Did I hit you with that throw?" Claire pondered but was unable to get up from the stand. No matter how strongly she willed herself to go inside her car, it was as if she was stuck to the spot.

"Damn! Please don't give him a direct stare! You'll be in danger, you foolish woman!" Claire said herself.

"Yes." The man rubbed the left side of his head and muttered, "It aches a little," He continued to smile.

Claire avoids looking the stranger in the eyes.

"Fuck! Get in your car now!"

The voice was there again, and Claire felt a chill on her face and ears again. But this time, she thought she recognized the voice. It appears that she heard that already. Was that the same man she saw last night in her dreams? Does he appear once more? Claire thinks that she needs to speak with a psychologist or psychiatrist already. She feels that she's under a lot of stress already.

"I apologize. I had no idea anyone was there. I assumed I was by myself," Claire merely said.

"And it's better… just yourself. It's easier."

Claire wasn't sure what was causing her the unusual goosebumps and chills. Given how much alcohol she consumed, she ought to feel heated.

"What are you saying?" Claire asked.

"I mean, being alone makes a person more personable."

Claire couldn't stop staring into the eyes of the man who introduced himself as Jaden. It appeared that Claire was enchanted by him because of his good looks. The man's face inched closer to hers with time, but she did not attempt to back away. She appeared to be fascinated by Jaden's good looks. She wanted to leave once Jaden's lips were close to hers, but she couldn't move her body.

The man's hand raised Claire's chin as it moved up to hers. "Get your mouth open."

Claire was so anxious that her chest rumbled. The man's look made her feel unsafe. His eyes also abruptly changed color—warm brown to blazing crimson. Anyone who encounters him would be horrified. Claire desired to shout and run away, but she was unable to. What's even more astonishing is that she opened her mouth like carrying out his instructions.

Is she so drunk that she has lost her self-control? To the point that her body can't move even if she tried to. She felt as if all of her strength—even her soul—was absorbed when Jaden's mouth was close to hers.

When she feared she would exhaust herself and come to an end when a man suddenly appeared in front of them and punched Jaden. They fought until they were fully enveloped in darkness in the middle of the night. The furious crackling signals that someone was fighting started to fade away as the two appeared to be moving apart.

What was even more stunning was Claire knew that the man who suddenly appeared was the same man she had met the previous night.

Claire was startled and appeared to have lost her drinking enthusiasm entirely. She hurriedly stepped inside the car despite appearing to be exhausted. She drives her car in a bustling and lighted area of town.

Claire widened her eyes and peered around. Her profound fear at what she witnessed was still causing her to gasp for air, and her mind could not understand it. "Who is that person? Or who are those men?" she asked herself.

The man from last night, whom she believed to be a hallucination, was the man who suddenly appeared. That man even considered erasing the things she had seen and heard.

"Gosh! What is going on with me? Am I losing my mind? Has stress caused my brain to malfunction? Gosh, no!" Claire hugged herself after running a palm over her face.
