Chapter 6: Why should you hide it?

Dylan agreed to stay by Miren's side for the duration of the night because of Miren's persuasion.

It looked like the lovely girl lying in his lap was breathing steadily, her delicate face buried in his lap as if she were peacefully lost in a dream. Perhaps the god of dreams blessed Miren with a pleasant dream, as evidenced by the lovely smile that formed on her lips. The little girl's hands were wrapped around Dylan's waist, her little fingers digging into his shirt as if she was afraid that if she fell asleep herself, Dylan would leave her without a warning.

Dylan leaned over, arms propped up, leaning against the edge of the bed. He doesn't know how long he's been looking at Miren, fanciful thoughts floating around, making Dylan's mind restless. He was surrounded and troubled by conflicting emotions in his heart, making it impossible for him to be pure enough to do other things.

Although he understands that he holds a special place in Miren's heart, Dylan does not dare to accept Miren's feelings for him. Dylan doesn't dare to love, he can't even push Miren into a dangerous area and be noticed by the enemy. As a prized possession in his heart, Miren is always cherished and loved unconditionally, which may explain why he cannot accept that other people can hurt her in any way. Dylan had a good understanding of his situation, and it was precise because he had such a good understanding that he was afraid.

Dylan is afraid that others might know that Miren is his weakness and take advantage of this weakness to do evil things. He is not concerned about himself being plotted against or harmed by others; rather, he is concerned about Miren being harmed by those same individuals.

Soft silver curls wrapped around Dylan's fingers, carrying a floral fragrance that made others fall head over heels. He looked her in the eyes and sighed.

“You should be a little obedient, you shouldn't have feelings for me. You and I should not develop male-female feelings, it will put you in a dangerous situation. Miren, the lovely flower I'm in love with, I can't bear to see you hurt."

Miren's eyelashes fluttered slightly, but the movement was so quick and seamless that Dylan didn't even notice.

———

It had been a long time since Miren had been with Dylan for such an extended period. Normally he would only stay in the castle for about three days and then leave for a few months. This time, however, things were different because Dylan had been in the castle for nearly a week. The fact that Miren has received all of Dylan's attention and pampering has caused her to believe that she is experiencing the happiest time of her life in many years.

She was like a delicate flower, spending the entire day cuddling into Dylan's lap and pleading with him to love her. Dylan also did not hate this attachment of hers, he was always ready to comply with all her requests without refusing one bit.

The surface of the lake is calm, with a beautiful blue tint imparted by the clear blue sky above it. The contrast between the clear, innocent blue color of the lake's surface and the deep blackness of the lake's bottom is striking. Fish of all sizes and colors play in the cool water, waging their long multi-colored tails and splashing the water upwards as they swim. A large lake is surrounded by lush green grass. Small flowers are scattered throughout the lawn, providing subtle accents against the lush green backdrop.

The sky is high and clear blue, and a few white clouds are floating lazily in the sky, allowing the wind to blow away in the vastness of the sky. All that is illuminated by the warm sun appears to be a brighter color as the sun's rays reflect off everything it touches.

On Miren's body is a yellow floral dress, the color of which is bright but not dazzling; the top of the skirt is embroidered with tiny red flowers; the dress gives the wearer the feeling of having something innocent and pure, as well as something cute and salty. She is lying on the boat, her hands leaning against the side of the boat, her eyes half-closed, her chin slightly raised, taking in the warm sunlight.

It's all-natural and soft, from the silk scarf around the neck to the small hat on the head, which is made of fresh flowers.

Flowers on the grass are not as many as those on Miren, she transforms herself into a spring flower fairy, loves small flowers, ready to put them in her lap and cuddle.

Dylan was sitting across the table from Miren, reading a book. Although he is dressed in a very simple manner, his calm demeanor cannot conceal the noble aura that he exudes.

The girl on the other side of him slowly opened her eyes, her eyes filled with sweetness and love as she looked at him. She reached out, grabbed a tangerine, and handed it to him with a smile on her face.

"You should give it a try because the tangerines this season are very sweet and the flavor is not bad."

Dylan smiled and reached out to pick up the tangerine and pop it into his mouth; he nodded again. Dylan's senses were stimulated by the sweetness combined with the succulent juiciness of the fruit, resulting in a delicious taste that improved Dylan's mood even more. Everything that Miren gives him, Dylan will always take and eat, a habit that makes him unable to refuse what is?

“Tangerines are delicious, you should eat them too.”

Miren smiled and put a tangerine in her mouth. This delicious flavor makes her heart skip a beat.

The time spent together is truly enjoyable for her and she never wants to end it. Miren also knows that she is a greedy person herself, but there is nothing else she can do other than be greedy. The longer she was with Dylan, the more Miren yearned to become an important person in Dylan's heart, to receive all his love and attention.

Perhaps Dylan's affection and pampering caused her to become reliant on him.

Miren sat up slightly, moving slowly, leaning back and leaning close to him. The two of them once again formed an ambiguous pose with overly close skin-to-skin contact. If someone were to touch Dylan's body in this manner, he would almost certainly ask that person to leave him immediately, but Miren didn't, and he never felt uncomfortable with physical contact.

A couple of years ago, he had also reminded Miren that such an intimate act was not appropriate for men, because it could lead to misunderstandings between the two of them. And the answer to this is that Miren only used it on Dylan, she never used it on other people so he didn't have to worry. If he can't be tough, he will gently advise her, but hard or soft Miren won't accept it, she always wraps up with Dylan.

Dylan has no choice but to comply with her wishes in any case.

Miren sank deeper into Dylan's lap, allowing herself to be seduced even further by his intoxicating scent. She asked him a question.

"Dylan, I have something to ask you."

Dylan responded with a light blink and a nod of his head.

“What do you want to know?”

Miren paused for a few seconds, then she continued.

“I want to ask something about my mother.”

Miren noticed that Dylan's body had become slightly stiff at one point, and although the state passed quickly, Miren could still feel it.

"Just ask, if there's something I know, I'll let you know."

Miren cooed as she poked her finger lightly across his chest.

“Of course, since you know, I will ask you. I want to know why my mother was killed by my father that year. I don't believe it was because of the rift relationship, I knew something was going on in my family but since I was too young at the time to understand… Dylan, my father's kills of my mother had something to my mother's voice?"

She did not attempt to hide her curiosity and thoughts; it was just that this time she spoke so bluntly and honestly that Dylan was taken aback by what she had said.

Despite his initial gaze, he immediately turned his gaze away, fearing he would lose his nerve and look her in the eyes. Dylan doesn't want to hide anything from Miren, but he also understands that there are things that need to be said at the right time, and shouldn't be said too hastily. Everything he's done so far has always been for Miren's sake, Dylan never wanted to hurt Miren.

Miren didn't urge him to give her an immediate answer. But it was Miren's calmness that made Dylan a little uneasy.

"Why do you suddenly ask like that, is there something in your heart?"

Miren shook her head, she calmly replied: “I just want to know more about my family. I know you're always worried about me that's why you keep these things a secret from me, but I hope to hear from you. Only then will I feel at ease.”

Dylan took a deep breath, unable to bring himself to say anything.

"There are a few things I can't tell you right now, but I promise that once you turn eighteen, I'll tell you everything you want to know."

Miren soon guessed the intentions in his heart. She looked at him seriously, with no intention of giving in. Now that she's turning eighteen, she has a right to know what's going on around her and her mother. Miren always had the feeling that Dylan would never tell her everything because Dylan wanted to protect her from something.

"I'm almost eighteen, too, I want to know there's nothing wrong with that."

Dylan: "It's better not to know."

Miren countered: “No way. Isn't it better to just walk around in a fog than to go somewhere where you can see everything?"

Dylan sighed: "But if the ground in the fog is safe and flat and the land outside the fog is dangerous with lots of traps, then it's better to walk in the mist."

Miren grimaced, continuing to retort: "Who can say that it is forever safe inside the fog, and who can say that if you go outside, you will fall into a trap."

Dylan: "As long as you're with me, you'll be safe."

She immediately wriggled out of his arms, vehemently disagreeing.

“No, I don’t want to turn myself into such a useless thing.”
