KATERINA
"Oh my gosh! He gave you his jacket! That's so sweet!" Jasmine and Lucy where both in my room early in the morning, both of them wanting to know all the details of my "date" with Haydon.
"Okay calm yourself Down Jas. It's just a jacket..." I rolled my eyes.
"Just a jacket! Just a jacket! No, it's not just a jacket. It's Haydon flipping Veneziano's jacket."
"Okay that is kinda big!" I said squealing. Lucy soon joined in. At first, she was a bit upset about the fact that Haydon and I were more than just friends and that I had not even told her a single thing before. But after she saw how happy I was, she was no longer upset.
Just then my phone began to ring. I was about to check who it was when Jas had grabbed it
KATERINA"Haydon, we are back!" I heard Lily say as the door closed behind her and Jeremy. Haydon and I were playing with Garrison who woke up five minutes after he fell asleep. Jeremy and Lilly came into the lounge with shocked expressions on their faces. Their expressions grew even more extreme as they saw me with Haydon and the baby. "Hello Katerina...""Hey Lily, hey Jerry. I hope you don't mind, I just came to check up on them, but Haydon was doing fine on his own, weren't you Haydon?"I gave him a look and he nodded immediately. "Yup!"Lily looked up at Jerry with a weird look and then shrugged. "Wow, you two are
KATERINAI gave a small smile and asked, "So now, what are we?"He stared very, hard at me, and then I saw the nerves creep onto his face. His eyebrows rose and his lip twitched. "H-how would you like to be my girlfriend?" It was really clumsy, the way he said it, all flustered and nervous.I wasn't sure myself if I was ready to be his girlfriend. We were safe just being more than just friends and now we were taking it a step further. Was I ready to be a vampire's girlfriend? Was I ready to be hunted my whole life? My whole life I was taught never to feel for something so undead, so lifeless. But now I realised he wasn't lifeless at all, nor was he monster. However, the question to be asked was, was he worth dying for?
KATERINAPacking for Italy was an utter nightmare. I didn't know what to wear, what to pack nor did I even know what the weather was like there. So eventually I packed my entire cupboard into my bag... and some of those clothes into Haydon's bag. "It's Friday and we're stuck here with you, packing for Italy. I could be out doing something, maybe attend one of those underground fights you two used to go to." "Can you shut up Jas? It's not like this is a walk in the park for me either!" I growled. Okay, maybe I was a teensy, tiny bit nervous about explaining this to my parents. It was at times like these where I wished Death wasn't the bad guy. "Calm down Katerina, it’s just clothes," Haydon said laughing with Jasmine.
KATERINAWe arrived in Italy after a long, uncomfortable flight. I hadn’t been able to sleep at all as I though about what Haydon’s father’s reaction would be to me and began to mentally prepare myself for rejection. Italy was quite beautiful this time of the year, and the weather was warm enough to allow me to remove my thick jacket soon after we arrived at the airport. After we had gathered our luggage, Haydon rented us a car and we began driving. In all honesty, I paid less attention to the road, people and homes which passed us, and more attention to my shaking hands.“Katerina, calm down please. You have nothing to fear, I will be beside you the entire time, okay?”His words, meant to be reassuring, did nothing to get me to calm down. If
KATERINAWe sat in the dining room which was as grand as anything I had ever seen. The beautiful mahogany table was decorated with a white silk cloth which had intricate blue petals embroidered in. The table was filled with many different types of food which was odd, since Haydon and his parents did not eat any food, instead, they sat with wine glasses filled with blood on the table. It had been exactly five minutes of the four of us staring at each other awkwardly, when finally, Haydon broke the silence. “Is there a reason that we are waiting and staring at each other?”Mr Haydon spoke, never lifting his eyes from me, “Yes, we are waiting for a few guests. They should be here, right about-“Knock. Knock. Knock.
KATERINAWe sat in the lounge beside a fire. It had gotten colder now, so much so, that I found my self near Haydon, clinging to him for dear life while receiving some serious glances from my mother. Haydon’s parents were clearly way more accepting of our relationship than mine were at this point.“So, let me start,” Mr Veneziano said. “It all began the day Death resurrected Haydon. For something needing so much of power, there are always serious consequences. The first, was the death of his wife, Elisabeth.” He then paused, clearing his throat, and the continued. “The second, and most dangerous consequence, was a prophecy. It was a prophecy fortold by the oracle, Cecilia. The day Haydon was resurrected, she rushed here and immediately told us what she has foreseen. That day, I had kicked her out of this house, banishing her from ever se
KATERINADestroy the remains. Destroy the damn remains.Haydon and I might as well have just broken up because there was no way in hell, that we’d be able to, firstly take the remains away from Death, and secondly, destroy them when they were imbued in dark magic.“That’s why we tried to keep you two apart when we started suspecting. We wanted to figure out how to prevent the prophesy. But clearly you two had to start liking each other and ruin our plans. Honestly Katerina, first underground fights and now this.”And once again, I was busted.“How did you know?”My father smirked and shook his head, “Your brother is an awful liar, Dylan Connors.”
KATERINAWe had gotten on the first available flight, rushed, panicked and panting. The phone call my mother had received was one fatal call, the call from Death. Apparently, my parents had not been secretive enough, and he had caught on to their plan. He was, at the moment, holding my brother, along with Jeremy and the boys hostage. Tonight, was the night he was convinced that he would achieve his goal. He knew that he had power over us, and we could bend to his will. The flight was once again, long and uncomfortable and distress was evident on Haydon’s parent’s faces as well as my own.“I just don’t understand how he figured out that we knew. How the hell could he have known. We showed no evidence whatsoever that we knew about his real plan
